Most of the phrases deal with posturing, checking for injury and high courtesy given regarding the honorable opponents who've offended. In the end someone was nicked (the guy on the right) and he admitted he lost so apologized, then shook hands.
Bravo! It is a shame that not all duels in movies are like this, this is the prove that stage fighting can be done with real historical techniques without extra protection nor hurting your opponent.
My Father was once challenged to a Duel. He said. "Since You made the Challenge . I get to choose weapons." It shall be Buckets of Shit with brooms at 10 paces." The other fellow decided not to engage.
Allow me, Sir to disagree. There's a much greater beauty to me in such not rehearsed combat, as it looks much more like the real thing, as you can see in historical footage like this one (albeit this is épée): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dK6JVtR2Qfc.html Someone who understands real combat will feel the tension, the fear, leading to smaller, more prudent steps and attack. The hesitation, the insecurity are all things which do barely exist in choreography and who make a video like the one above the more incredible. But this is only my opinion to which you can obviously disagree ;-) Salute to you, Sir.
The biggest clue was the modern cars in the background.... But you knew that ,right? I mean really, did you actually think that it was... No, that's silly . One couldn't possibly led to believe that this was a legit film from the past? Oh well , maybe so. Ahh but you figured it out because of the zoom lens. Very perceptive.
Looks fake. Since when did they have telephoto lenses with autofocus back then? Body language is modern. clothes are modern made to look like old. Love the modern cars in the background. Lol
