Hard to say if it's the nostalgia influencing me from my childhood, but the old cards are by far my favourite. The newer ones are really cool too but they don't give me that "I could stare at this for days and I don't know why" feeling.

If only we'd gotten the better GBA games in the West. The ones we got are substantially inferior to a couple of the ones they got in Japan. Look up a video showcasing all of the GBA games if you want to see what I mean. I'm seriously considering attempting to translate one of the games into English myself.
Garkago Dragon....I was with my mom back then, we opened the pack together. I was so happy, and I hope she was, too. Ah good old days, linkin park and duel masters.
This was the thing back then. 2 friends and me were always rocking duel masters during the times the product was still officially supported. Each one of us was specialized in one element. It was great. Wish the game did survive. It's the perfect deal between yugioh and magic.
Recently found my old duel masters collection. It's a shame the game died in the west (I know it's still quite popular in Japan). It was quite funny as an "easy" alternative to MTG and the art is fantastic
Awesome. I received my first packs when I was around five years old or so; sadly never got any kind of ruleset so I never figured out how to play the actual game. Seeing some of these cards really does give me a sentiment of nostalgia! I appreciate the fact that you hovered over each card for a couple of seconds. +1
Thanks, I tried to keep the pace to what I would want if I were watching it, linger long enough to enjoy each card but don't waste too much time. I tried battling but only had 1 friend who got into Duel Masters. The simplicity of it was fun in a way, but yugioh was better to play. I just loved the DM artwork.
Same it wasn't nothing like it duel masters is so underrated and underappreciated when I was growing up because of people thinking is a Yu-Gi-Oh clone which it wasn't.
"its a yugioh rip off! waaaaa" me: shut up, the artwork on these cards are beautifully kickass. explosive fighter ucarn and galklife dragon were my favorites.
My play group were split between MTG (me included) and YGO. But DM was the game that all of us played. My 2nd favorite TCG for sure. The art was beautiful & mechanics were easy to understand. I love the resource mechanic the most. Having to decide which card to keep & which to use as Mana.
@@zaklesiou I think it was similar here, caught on for a year or 2 in small groups but didn't have the same staying power as pokemon or yugioh, I thought the artwork was uniquely different though, certainly had its own style.
Thanks, I really liked the artwork of these cards, felt uniquely detailed from Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh but still had that similar artistic vibe. I got most of these cards from packs when the game was brand new to NA (except Deathliger, that was one of those "always wanted since I was a kid" kind of cards).
I really miss this card game. Pretty sad it just survives by being a mobile card game on Japan, no western video game like master duel for ygo Duel master show was so sick, like CHAOTIC. I used to play the games for gameboy Pretty amazing collection.
That's pretty sweet, just started playing the tcg myself after remembering it from my childhood, mono water best budget deck (yes i know it's not as good as fn rush, but if you only have English cards then it's considerably cheaper)
I desperately wish I still had friends to play this with 😔 I still have about ~250 cards, just no one to play with. None of my family or current friends would be interested. And I guess while I'm here wishing for stuff, I wish Duel Masters had been more successful in the West and that the franchise was still ongoing here like it is in Japan. They're so lucky.
Bro I remember focusing on collecting as many Survivor cards and rainbow cards lol I forgot what they were called but they were like double element cards and they looked epic. I’ve still got a lot of my duel master cards but I can’t find my rarest ones.. the holos always curved too so that was dumb.. but yeah I miss my collection. My Asian friends helped me get better at the game lol I loved this game.
Tbh I use to really love duel masters back in the day I use to collect cards and everything duel masters is underrated masterpiece that a lot of people don't get enough credit to sadly is low-key a top tier series and franchise tbh.
never really got why yu gi oh was more popular than duel masters, the art, the details, the quotes is just something else. Too bad I lost my darkness deck.
Might have just been bad timing, I grew up collecting pokemon cards then yu-gi-oh cards and battling with those for years. By the time duel masters came out, most of my friends were onto video games and other things and kind of got sick of card collecting just from short term burn out, that's when duel masters was coming out in NA with the show and decks etc. I think duel masters was pretty huge outside of NA though, called Kaijudo
@@PointofParallax I also collected pokemon and yu gi oh cards and battled with my friends in the early 2000s, mainly because of the cartoons, I checked out your channel and found that digimon cards was a thing too in NA? I was in SG then and it didn't catch on, but I agree with computer games gradually taking over, we were obessed with dota and maple and ditched duel masters by 2008.
@@deanj2554 Yea Digimon was a thing in NA, but not nearly as big as Pokemon/Yugioh. I am surprised Duel Masters didn't catch on more though, just because the art was so unique to the other IP's. Highly detailed but still clearly not photorealistic, I loved it.
@@deanj2554 I remember when I was in SG I would always go to this shop near my school if I remember it correctly that sells individual cards from normal to the rarest ones. You can even build a deck there if you had money. I jumped on it late and by the time I was able to save up enough to buy good cards I got introduced to Blackshot and xbox 360. I really wish I was more into it. I never got to build my darkness deck of my dreams nor tried the survival deck and rainbow ones
@@sooooootamad7539 LOL I was in SG too when I started playing, cos kid's central was playing the cartoon hh. I was in AMK by the way and they didn't sell individual cards. Another thing I played was mushiking in arcades lol. But like you, I moved on to playing dota on garena and that was that.
Thanks! I appreciate the offer but I made the mistake of selling my cards once, don't plan on parting with anything but you can find a lot of these on Ebay, some sets on Kijiji etc.
Point of Parallax I Completely understand. I recently found mine after going through some old storage boxes. Can’t believe I ever packed them away haha! Thanks for the info, I will have a look. All the best!
Yes mainly sets from 9 thru 12 because they were discontinued in stores like walmart and target and the only way to obtain them were online as few card stores bothered to sell them
Im selling my collection. It has all the metal tin boxes from DM 01 to DM 12 and the cards and the play board on paper. I have all the cards in this collection plus more. If you are interested mail me at bobsvintagephoto@gmail.com with your contact details.

It's 0 plus the effects in the description, so if you play it with 5 darkness creatures in your graveyard, it would have 10,000. Man I really need to look through my collection again one of these days, the artwork is so sick.
