One of my favourite pieces. It was performed for the first time right here in Vienna in 1828, not so far from where I live. Schubert's Ständchen (Serenade). 😊 Subscribe: ru-vid.com By the way, since many people have asked: I use the wonderful DOLFINOS shoulder-rest system.
Each and ev'ry time Alma Deutscher posts a new piece of music, no matter how short, I realise how lucky we are to witness the brilliance of this lovely young lady. She spreads happiness all around her. We, as listeners, indeed are lucky.....
So beautifull played its like she lived many lives already ( imagine Schubert himself could hear this i think he would cry from happiness) Alma is not of this world just unbelievable what she does! Thank you so much Alma you are the purest soul i ever have seen! what a honour for me to live in the same time you live
At first I didn't even realize it was Alma on the piano. At first I was thinking her and her friend both wore red. And then I thought maybe Alma cut her hair to match same length of her friends hair because they are best friends and want to have same hair length. Then when it zoomed in on the pianist I was like wait a minute...that's Alma!!!! Isn't that crazy I didn't recognize at first?!!!!
I love the way Ms. Deutscher interpreted this Schubert's Serenade with such a sweet air of melancholy, depth and full of emotion. Other violinists (even the great Anne Sophie Mutter and Izahak Perlman) seem to play with too much sweetness and make this serenade overly romantic. It seems to me the lower voices of cello (Camille Thomas and Beautrice Berrut), viola (Carr-Petrova Duo) and sucj vocalist as Peter Schreier and Fischer Dieskau suite this melody better. While checking others play this music, I notice they start the first part low and move up to high when they play the second part, which is opposite to what Ms. Deutscher did. I feel Ms. Deutscher's version evokes a feeling of sweetness, melancholy and longing much more effectively in telling a story. It's not one dimensional. How she can make her violin sing with so much emotion!
Not only are you a fine composer, a lovely interpreter. Beautifully and so sweetly played, thank you. You have such gifts, so generous that you share them
The violin is the only instrument that can truly touch my heart…I remember visiting France as a young man and in the many back streets of Paris I stumbled upon an old Jewish busker and he played “Yiddisha mama” and he played with such feeling I burst into tears I will never forget him I’m sure he is with the Ángels now playing his violin.
Alma plays Shubert Schumann plays Robert Hearken to tunes divine For lonely Tree of Pine Give an ear to Deutscher And to those who taught her Violin - Dew of Immortality Piano - Heart of Vitality Playing with her best friend Self-knowledge is a trend To banish the darkness To usurp the starkness!
Alma, you are literally an angel. An old soul from an earlier age in music. And a welcome one. Thank you Alma. Your gifts have given us hope and music, through truly difficult times.
Your friend seems just as nice as you, Alma! :) Beautiful performances from 'both of you' in this delightful rendition. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Your violin sounds wonderful, it is singing like a human voice, full of natural feeling! Your piano is singing together with the violin. Your interpretation is pure and fine. Thank you many times!
Thank you sooooo much Miss Alma Deuscher! I have just got home after a long shift and sitting for dinner at 23.00hrs and there you are. You are truly amazing and bring so much joy with your talents, we are blessed. May you continue to shine always. God Bless you. ;-))
Brilliant young woman ! Ive watched you since age 8 There is no stopping you- full of talent to share with the world You’re an absolute delight . Bravo Alma……💓🎻💓
I wonder if most of the commenters realize how difficult it is to achieve that perfect of intonation throughout, especially on the double-stops. Amazing precision, yet played with so much mature musicality too.
Absolutely wonderful Alma. Loving the vibrato and doublestops. Keep up the good work and the whole world will eventually see your brilliance. I'm sure of it.
I've loved Schubert for as long as I can remember (and that's a long time). In college, my music-majoring friends told me, "forget it, Rick, Schubert's derivative, unoriginal, didn't move music forward." I feel so vindicated every time I hear such a rare talent and brilliant mind as Alma Deutscher's championing Schubert's music.
Most beautiful! Thank you Alma. I am looking forward to seeing you play in person again. I was at Carnegie Hall. When I listen to you my heart soars it's indescribable.
Very well done Schubert would have greatly approved. Greetings from the far South of South Africa, and I wish you success with your musical career. Your heart is in it. You can bring it really far.
You should play with your friend again. Such friendships are precious. She doesn't even look at you (naughty!), but you are still getting along wonderfully. Oh, please tell her that the red dress looks good on her.
