If you like hearing all these stories please Subscribe to my channel and ask friends to do the same. By the way... have you seen "Anderson Bench" on here yet? It's free and it's freaky. Want to get a feel for what it's like inside my head..? Check out that movie! Warning: It is a VERY DARK comedy and NOT for the kiddos!
OMG John that was my dream car for soooo many years when I was a kid. To be honest I still want one. Haha. Great memories for you I'm sure. Can't wait to see the car in "Stand on It"!!!
Have you ever thought about doing a "Road Trip" and going back to Duke's of Hazard filming locations? Probably bring back some great memories for you. I know there have been a few through the years but none of them would be as authentic and accurate as what you could do.
That sounds like a great idea!! Yes, John... Get in the General Lee and we can enjoy MEMORY LANE Fun locations with the General Lee... The Duke Boys, and Daisy Duke approved!! 😊😊🚙🚙🚙
John, I can't explain how much I enjoy watching your video's but its not so much the content. You seem to have a kindness about you that comes across as such a grounded and wholesome person. I know you're ultra famous, but being able to get to know you in this way is fascinating to me. Most actors, we never see this side of them, and I can't say enough how cool it is to be able to even think my message will be read by you. I always forward all your videos to my family members, because I too want them to be able to see you in this way. I remember as a kid watching Dukes with my older brother and it brings back such fun memories. Thanks John, for those memories back then, and these memories now.
Crazy I remember this just airing for the 1st time , I was in auto body shop in high school ,who'd a ever thought 40 years later Id be watching true facts of locations of the show.
I enjoyed tuneing in on Friday nights ! The Dukes of Haszzard was a decent show very well worth watching & all the memories ! They where a part of My child hood !
I think it's fantastic the way you embrace the show and its legacy. Many actors don't do this because it was jut another job for them. The way you keep it alive and make it fun after all these years really makes it meaningful for all the fans, including myself. James Best and Sorrell Booke did this, as well. It was just a great cast of down to Earth people that made the Dukes. Back in the day, laughing my butt off with my brothers, I had no idea it would be so big for so long. Thanks for great childhood memories! (of course, my mom still hates it to this day, lol!)
Those first 5 episodes are very dear to me. Being from Georgia, those episodes have a distinct look and feel. So those along with Smokey and the Bandit are just heritage for us Ga. Folks. Oh and your Cash impression is quite good.
Lord Motorsports YES!!!! I was just watching season one again yesterday and after those first 5 episodes the look and feel of the show are completely different! I too am from Georgia but currently living in NY and man you talk about be over come with homesickness!!
I think it's safe to say I speak for everyone. We are so grateful and appreciative that you're so open with this stuff. It's amazing to hear all of this information right from the source. You were always one of my childhood heroes, and to see you still rocking it is just amazing! Keep up the good work.
As a life long Dukes fan, the Disney Ranch location is my favorite. It would be awesome for John to go back there and give a tour there someday. I believe that is where that iconic wooden bridge is that Bo jumped off the truck into the lake in the episode "Follow That Still". Also, in "The Rustlers" with Mel Tillis, the white farm house and land is very picturesque. Especially, when they show the pasture with the distance signs when the horse races the General Lee. Those sunny scenes with the trees and winding dirt roads like that really added to the show.
John, I remember a car show you worked in Baltimore in the late 70's early 80's. We talked a bit, we kissed. We were young. But I miss all the guys hanging out working on cars and celebrate the freedom our own car or truck gives a person. Thank you for keeping that part of Americana and MEN alive
I’ve been watching Dukes of Hazzard all day (season 4) now and was curious about the film locations in California so I Googled it and came across your channel. Thanks! You answered everything I needed to know.
John, back in early 2000’s I, worked at Warner Brothers part time in Burbank when I lived in California. I met someone that worked in the transportation department and I told them I was a life long Dukes of Hazzard fan and asked him if they had any General Lees in storage because I’d been wanting to see an actual screen used General Lee my whole life. Sure enough, I got to see the stunt car that did the street jump in the last reunion movie “Hazzard in Hollywood”. So I was there, at Warner Brothers, with a General Lee stunt car. It was a Dukes fan dream come true! Plus I got to walk the sets where “Hazzard Square” used to be, like downtown Hazzard. They were set up at the time filming “Gilmore Girls” at that time. I just wanted to share this story with you!
You're the best John . There's nothing more iconic to a genX kid than the Dukes. Your genuine appreciation for what the show means to us is great to see. You really get it
As a lifelong Dukes fan who's been spotting the 'different' Hazzards since I was a young boy, these videos are fantastic. Maybe you could do a dedicated video on Georgia locations and memories, John? The Georgia locations and episode are generally my favourite, I always wonder how it would have panned out if the series had remained there. My least favourite Hazzard setting is the final one (the Warner ranch) as it all seems squished in; both the farm and the Boar's Nest always look to have convienently stacked hay bails to mask things in the background! :)
We wouldn't know that much detail if it wasn't for you,I'm learning so much at 62 years old, does it seem weird seeing yourself back then, your a good guy. Thanks for taking time to share with us.Stay safe.
You're not a dumb guy, John, like you'd said earlier, these memories are some 40+ years ago I'm personally not expecting you to be able to remember everything as if it'd happened yesterday
Love hearing about the making of the duke’s! Have you ever thought about doing a session where you talk about all the different country singers you guys had the pleasure of working with. Some of my favorite episodes are Roscoes celebrity speed traps. I would love to hear about those experiences.
Man, seeing that thumbnail...I totally forgot that years ago I read in a magazine that you used to race friends in a Countach back in the 80s in like Texas or something. Can you tell us about that? That's my favorite car of all time, and I'm very interested in what it was like.
I'd say it is with the second in the countdown being the one where they're jumping over the river and you can see the camera mounted to the passenger side of the General, then in the next shot its that camera's POV.
2 best jumps was ‘million dollar sheriff’ jumping the old guy delivering the cheque, and jumping the cement truck in Daisys Roadrunner in ‘goodbye general lee’.
I just have to tell you about y'alls biggest fan, my grandma Scott. She NEVER missed the "Duke of Hazards". She loved the stories and thelove between the family. Thank you, John, for great memories.
I love your channel, the dukes of Hazzard was always a favorite of mine. I remember being on a March of dimes telethon with you when I was a child, I was a poster child in the late 70's- early 80's
Thanks John for the wonderful new video. My family and myself love the Dukes especially during these scary and somewhat paranoid times that we are living in. But enough of that...time for another episode! :)
It's weird how much time has passed since I grew up watching the show. When your small time seems to pass slowly but as you get older it fly's bye so fast.
John you are a good old boy and I do thank you for your time and your videos and movies you have made over the years and your music just wanted to say thank you ronin from BOSTON Ma. .......
I wish you would do a 5 minute video on Paul Baxley and his crews contribution to the Dukes. Not only the car scenes, but fight scenes as well. Their work was excellent.
Hi John I'm a big Dukes of Hazzard fan when I was a kid growing up.I'm 41 now I live in Ventura County where Luke's Love Story racing scene was filmed in Piru California and Granny Annie General Lee train jump in Oxnard California.
I grew up in Tampa, Fl and my most prized possession was my Dukes of Hazard record player. They year was 1984 and I would play the Dukes theme song on full blast 7 days per week... Our good neibor next door, Mr. Jack, never complained once because he knew how much it meant to me... Five years later our family moved to a small place in Valdosta, Georgia, where my new neibor turned out to be none other than Shroyer family... I must had drove my go-kart by their house a million times but never knocked on the door because I was told Enos had passed away a few years before we moved up there... Never the less, each time I raced by their house, I had the Dukes theme song blaring in my mind and an imaginary Rasco and Boss hog in fast pursuit trailing behind me... I never got to tell my old neibor, Mr. Jack, or Sonny thank you for the all of the great memories but Mr. Schneider, now is a good time to thank you sir for all of the best memories a kid could every dream of... It’s so great to see your still rocking and rolling! Thanks for posting all of these videos!
I swear, I have the whole Dukes DVD set, plus I watched it when it was on network every week and in reruns, but I can never tell real from miniatures! Can you show a clip of real vs mini? What powered the minis?
@@JohnSchneiderStudios OK I ill watch closer next time thru haha. I am honored you replied to me. I am a huge fan...I was with you guys from the beginning. I just popped the center caps off my mags on the 1966 Mustang, ala DOH. I like the raw look! Sorry, babbling. Again, glad you responded, thanks!
back in 1982 I had a British Leyland Rover SD1 V8 good engine body "rust buckets" and used to tear up and down the small forest tracks on the North Yorkshire moors UK. you still are amazing in front of a microphone, same goes for being in front and behind the camera. I wish you many many more years of slendid work and good health for you and all loved ones.
John, I sincerely love hearing all the stories from your Dukes of Hazzard Days. Thank you so much for that. I too am trying to keep the Dukes dream alive on my channel through Diecast creations ,and the viewers are loving what i do. Thanks Again, George
LOVE hearing about how Dukes was filmed! Do you have any behind the scenes pics to share, especially of the studio where the inside of the Duke farm was, Boars nest, police station, etc?
I think the Georgia filming is why I have a deep-seated desire to leave the Northeast and live down there somewhere (anywhere, lol). That, and the general craziness that has always been the Northeast ... 😂 Used to love watching the General Lee go tearing down those GA backroads (and around those oaks in Cali) every Friday night. Good ol' days, for sure. 👍🍻 Can't wait to see Stand On It. Smokey and the Bandit is my all-time favorite movie. Sounds like something that would get me back into a movie theater. 😎 I just have one question: How the heck do you ONLY have 88k subs??? RU-vid's algorithms suck!
My family is watching the show right now, I've seen them a lot, & my kids are getting there 2nd, time around, well I own the seasons now, I got them from Cooters in Tenn. can't wait to go to Lurray, Va. to visit with Ben, as always Love watching the show, always entertaining! Hopefully get to meet you soon at Ben & Alma's👍🏻😍
I love this trivia! I could tell in the later years that things were shot on stage because I was so into behind the scenes stuff. my dream as a young boy watching these shows was to be a camera operator in Hollywood, and that's what I am doing today!
John. Schneider is awesome I got a autograph photo mailed to me when I was 13.in Winslow..I'm 53 now but the hole crew must be nice.🤩I've done 5 movies and 5 commercial. I understand now.thanks
Best TV series ever. Someday I'm gonna buy it on DVD! Me and my friends used to go off roading wishing we were Bo and Luke Duke! I want my own General Lee! And thanks for all these great videos!
John, when you say they made the "Robin Hood" film at Lake Sherwood, that must be the 1922 B&W silent film with Douglas Fairbanks. They made the 1938 Color film with Errol Flynn in Chico California which has an abundance of large oak and sycamore trees in our park.
Love your videos love the show and I actually live not far from the city's where you filmed the Frist 5 episodes. I've been to Covington town square and the other city's. My dad thought they'd filmed it all in Georgia. But I had to tell him they didn't. But you guys did good replicating the Georgia scenery and all that. God bless you and have a good day.
I've lived in Santa Clarita all my life and a friend of mine and I used to ride our dirt bikes up Haskell Canyon in Saugus to the movie ranch to watch you guys film once in a while. Later we used to ride up there to watch them film The A-Team. Thanks for the videos!! Keep them coming!!
I learned my best driving skills from watching your show and later on in life I had a chance to show off the skills I learned from you guys and guess what? I caught the bad guy By chasing him down in my car they had a Camaro and they tried to do a Dukes of Hazzard whippy to turn around in the road and they high centered their car on a dirt pile on the side of the road then it was my turn and because of your show and practicing I pulled off that Dukes of Hazzard whippy I even got offered a job by the police officers for my driving so thanks Dukes of hazard 💗
You know John.. grew up watching dukes.. born in 77.. moved to Santa Clarita in 87.. right down the street from Disney ranch. I believe I will be able to see the difference in sets.. Really cool that I got to grow up in the area my fav show was filmed.. I even got to load some hay at Disney ranch with friends Dad Gene Walker.. he was a Wrangler for the movies..
Fun Fact: Lake Sherwood was where they filmed the original Robin Hood and eventually the Dukes of Hazzard, and the theme song compares Bo and Luke to "modern day" Robin Hoods.
I enjoy hearing John reminiscing on these FUN DUKES facts! I do recall all the things he said! Ive been to Dukes farm and Boarsnest in GA! Its like when we pulled up to the spots and got out to just take it all in! It was like I was a kid again and came full circle! Its like I was meant to go to these places! I would love to find the spots from MOONRUNNERS in GA.!!!! That would be AWESOME!!!!!
Dukes is back on here in the UK with season 1 starting this week so enjoyed this video. Haven't seen these early episodes in well 40 years. I do remember as a kid watching the first episode and seeing Cooter drive the Ford Torino from Starsky and Hutch so that episode screened on Monday brought back happy memories.
It's amazing how much the center of Covington and the town center at Burbank Studios look alike. The red brick is identical. The first time I visited Covington, I came around the back side and was looking right at the courthouse tower. I recognized it immediately. They shot In the Heat of the Night there too.
TV from our childhood. My wife and I have all of the seasons of Duke's of Hazzard on DVD somewhere in our house. We sold our rural Upstate New York Dairy Farm last year and moved to a Kentucky Holler. We love it here. South and East of where we live is a Hazard Kentucky and I know that we've past a billboard sign for Cooter's Garage. Is there any connection with those two pieces of information to the show or cast? Thanks. Take care and GOD BLESS
Interesting stories! Thanks John! Is Boss Hoggs house on the set still there today? The one on the set where they shot the outside exterior of the house? Ive seen pics of it online. Curious if any of the old Dukes set buildings are still used for anything else today.
stacey sanders The boars nest in Georgia i think is currently a church. And I think the original farm house is gone, just the chimneys. Down town around the square I think looks kinda the same.
Hey @johnschneider Am currently rewatching season 2. Was it episodes were not shot in sequence? Because in this season we suddenly get Sheriff Grady. In the Loretta Lyn Epi, Roscoe is back. Next epi: Grady. Same for Cooter & his cousins BB & LD? #justcurious
Thanks for sharing that info. I had noticed some of the things you mentioned that were different. It is nice to now know why! Looking forward to seeing the car, too.
Was any filming done at Universal Studios? My sister went there on her senior trip (1984) and saw some General Lees in the parking lots. My parents took me there in 1986 and of course I saw a bunch of vans used for The A-Team and Firebirds used for Knight Rider.
Mr. Schneider, I passed by your current residence in Louisiana in the first week of March 2020. I noticed a General Lee with the top caved in. Was that the General Lee that was built on the Ford Torus frame or the General that was restored for you.
