People ask me all the time what it was like being on the show. Well here is a typical day in the life of Bo Duke on the set of the Dukes Of Hazzard. I hope you enjoy this half as much as I did! No production here. Right off my phone.
@@JohnSchneiderStudios So working 6am till 6pm 5days of the week that was only filming for the one episode that was scheduled for the week? Did you ever do scenes for the following upcoming episode if all the scenes were done and dusted?.. 🤔
John Schneider Your interactions are the reason I subscribe to your channel. I am also a very big Smallville fan, not so much because of the subject of the show but I for one thought the writing was exceptional for that kind of program. I’ve never seen a show delve deeper into the personal relationship between Clark Kent and his father. Almost always we see Johnathan for a few minutes and he dies. Never really an intricate part of the story but you and Tom really did that justice for many years.
Just subscribed! Really enjoyed your acting and singing over the years. I’m a Disabled Veteran now and still never pass up a chance to watch “Dukes”. Do you get out and tour anymore with your singing? If you make it to Indiana sometime, let’s have a beer and I’ll tell you a sea story and we’ll raise some hell here in Martin County! Heeehaww!
So excited that we just clicked 100,000 subscribers here on this channel! To all 100,000 of you I say thank you thank you thank you! Here’s to the next hundred!
John Schneider Thanks for this no nonsense real life pieces, great voice btw, yehaa , vote John for president ;) ... all the best take care from the Netherlands
Grew up watching this show. I am 46 now. Had the die cast General. Named my yellow hamster Bo and my black hamster Luke. Had the 70’s styled Dukes tee shirts. Went to the World of Wheels and saw a real General Lee and met James Best. Growing up in the 80’s jumping our bicycles and yelling “Yeeeeeeh Haaaaaw”. Those were the days and I thank you For help create them John. You were my hero! Watching your channel shows me you were the “real deal” Brutha. Peace to you and your loved ones. Oh my son is 19 now and you better believe he got just as excited as I did when we saw a General Lee driving down the road past us a few years back. Blast from my past!
I love that you don't act like a celebrity. You don't talk down to people. You don't preach or virtue signal. And I love that you remained passionate about the Dukes of Hazzard. The show was so important to so many of us. And it's almost like we're really reminiscing with Bo Duke. :)
I was 11 when the show debuted in 1979, and it's one of my favorites. I wish that today's TV shows were this good. Shows like The Dukes of Hazzard take me back to when I was a young girl. TV shows sure aren't what they used to be.
This is a EXCELLENT video of Dukes insight. John Schneider, literally one of my favorite conservative celebrities and a very decent person. God bless you John!
This man is a class act. He explains all of the life of Dukes. The people who made the dukes, not just the stars, but the cool background people. Director, stunt people, all the audio folks. The camera people, etc.
Top idea, there must me a screen play that could be written of the General and Bo and Luke as elder gents in modern Hazzard County dealing with the young whipper snappers in the rice rockets and the corrupt authorities.
Considering being a 17 year old, it’s hard to find anyone that has any idea what dukes of hazard but just wanna let you know that the show was great you’re the absolute legend
Thank you for sharing these fabulous stories John, for those of us who had the opportunity to enjoy this series, this is solid gold, always acting with a smile and great charisma, you transmitted it in every scene, my respects to all the cast, Dukes forever!
I like to thank John for that wonderful description of a day on the set, as a kid ,the hard work he and his fellow cast made the show truly wonderful to watch , every character was a star
So awesome. Thanks for sharing, John. I grew up with Dukes and it will always be one of my favorite all time shows. I was completely OBSESSED as a kid and I guess I still am. Keep the stories coming!! 🚗💨
I have always found it strange when I watch an episode where it's an outside scene at the Boar's Nest, then the actors go inside, but it's not actually inside that building it's on a sound stage on Warner Brothers or Burbank lot. It's just the way it's filmed/edited that makes it look like the same exact location. I have always liked the Dukes, the cast worked very well together and that shows up on camera. It's nice that the surviving cast are still friends to this day.
Also, there were 3 Boar's Nests (not including Georgia), and Boss's office wasn't always on the same end. From the interior shots, it should be on the right side of the building, but I can remember several instances when it was on the left side on exterior shots.
mattcastiglia don’t quote me on this but I think if we watch random episodes close enough we will notice a lot of things different and out of place from the original
The dukes of hazzard was and will always be one of my favorite shows and thank you Mr John Schneider for taking the time to always explain questions about the show. Thank you sir 👍🏽 and thank you for the great memories
Thank you John you are awesome for making the time and sharing your memories. You along with Tom Wopat, Catherine Bach, and the whole cast made my childhood worth while. I was 4 years old in 1979 and was glued to the couch watching the show and I still have the figures and The General Lee. 😉✌️👍
It is just awesome to wake up in the morning and see on the Italian TV the dukes of Hazard, simply hazard in the Italian version. Still in love of this TV show!
Very interesting video John big fan! I'm only 26 so I didn't get to watch the show when it was originally on but when I was little I watched the reruns on TNN. Probably seen every episode at least 100 times lol. Never gets old!
I watched The Dukes of Hazzard when i was growing up in the late 70s and early 80s . It was and still is one of the Best Family oriented T.V. shows ever made . I still can't hardly believe they won't rerun the show on T.V. because of the flag on the General Lee . That's just crazy to call a inanimate object racist .

Wow... That was really insightful, .... A lot of information about the daily routine... And how there was a pattern to the daily production, informative... I like it :-)
Thanks John, this is great,, I can only imagine the excitement of my 6 year old self to be able to watch a youtube video of John Schneider. Favorite memory watching The Dukes, watching with Grandpa on a Friday Night. I think watching him laugh at Boss and Roscoe chase or plot against you. Was the greatest. I can still see him laughing in his chair.
John, I've been a fan my whole life. I live I Nashville and at Dukesfest one year you signed my Dukes DVD. I've always loved your singing as well. Thanks for the memories BO.

I just saw Sid Haig " the clown guy in Rob Zombie movies" in a episode of dukes season 4 episode 18 Miz Tisdale on the Lam. I never noticed this before
The show came about at a time in my life when there were only 2 things that meant anything in my life and that was girls and cars and not always in that order.lol well the more popular the show got. I started noticing General Lee cars popping in the area I lived in. I wanted one so bad.It was awsome time the show was spectacular. Thank for the memories.
I was born in 1996, my dad showed me the dukes when I was 5 or 6, I'll never forget the feeling I had watching that show with him! Thanks for the memories
My childhood hero! A highlight of my 8 year old childhood. Thank you so much for taking me back in time. Great stories! Thanks for all your stories and memories you share.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy hearing you talk about what it was like filming the show. For the common person like myself we have no idea what all goes into it. When you go back in time we to back in time with you! Thank you so much

The Dukes of Hazzard was my all time favorite show growing up and i really enjoy watching your videos and especially all the inside information about the show and cast members. It would be a dream come true if i was to ever meet You or Tom Wopat or any others from the show but being on disability funds for events n stuff are very limited.
Watching the show religiously as a young boy. I never imagined that. I’d be able to interact with Bo Duke. In this manner. Thank you John thank you tube God Bless America 🇺🇸
I was a little kid when the dukes started. I have great memories of watching the show with my grandfather on Friday nights while my parents went out for the night. Thanks for everything John. I wish we could go back to those days!!!
John, what was your initial reaction when you saw the General Lee for the first time? Can you do a video about that memory of yours please, I think many would find the story very interesting! Thank you for sharing!
Danny J. Rumbles this is a great idea, I also remember the first time I saw the General and what an impression it made on me. I know John has said before that it was The dirty Mary crazy Larry car, but I would like to also know what the rest of the cast also thought about the car. What did they talk about the first time they saw the General. Great idea!!
Were you ever surprised watching back an old show and seeing someone that "made it" in Hollywood? The one that still gets me is seeing Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell as a robber.
@@JustinMacri007 my two favorites are Go West Young Dukes* and Ghost Of General Lee * am curious was jumping off a building onto a horse as painful as it looked. Bet the Ghost was a hoot to film
Thanks from the uk john , I was born in 73 , the show was all I grew up on , I loved it , Massive memories for me thankyou to all of the cast past and present

John Lant & Schneider - I was just thinking the SAME thing, it is SO refreshing to hear a television icon talking to us like it was us 1 on 1 w him. I’m 52 & this dude is my best memory of Friday Nights as a kid & he’s not pretentious 1 bit, you can’t help but love him all over again, but in a different realm. The show had perfect chemistry & an eclectic group of characters & think about “Daisey Dukes”, she was so hot, a style of shorts are named after her, Luke was a great co-star & it’s refreshing to see them still so close. I wish I could go watch a few episodes now!!!

My question is: you said you filmed 12 hrs a day 5 days a week so how many days did it take to finish one episode or was it one episode filmed per day or per week for you and tom? And if it took multiple days did they make a big deal every couple of days or every day today we are shooting this episode or this episode? Or was it you guys came in and just filmed a bunch of stuff and then they mix matched it however they could fit it?
John, you should have a show called Stories with Schneider I feel like a kid again when you reminisce about the show and your life. I remember when I was young I genuinely thought there was only one general lee used in the show and it survived the jumps and crashes and drowning in the water in ghost of general lee😂 in the words of roscoe, I love it I love it. Thanks John stay safe✌
i was a kid in the 70s where we too said grace at the table, if you wanted to get up from the table you asked to me excused. we said yes mam no mam. referred to our elders as mrs or mr. we had manners. how simple life was back then. i sure miss them days . i have the dvd collection and still watch them often. thanks for such a wonderful show
I don't think there were any of those episodes I missed, and though I loved every one of you, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane made that show so comical. Even at 68 I still watch some of his clips on RU-vid when I need something to smile about. May he rest in peace!!
My son hopes to meet you…. We live in Hammond. He has everything possible of Dukes of Hazard….shirt, TV tray, DVDs, and VHS.ext. so glad you still talk about Dukes of Hazard. My son is challenged…but knows ever thing possible. Thank you for all the stands you have made. Blessings
Thank you so much for explaining you on the set !! My son n our family loved the Duke boys ! He still has the original dukes of hazard sheets to this day lol ! My son was 2 years old then n would say " Bo Luke mommy "!! He got so excited ! He even got two parakeets n named them bo & Luke ! Question....Did you like the remake of the dukes of hazard the movie ? If you saw it ..that is ...you still look as great as you ever did John take care & God Bless ! Ps I watch all your videos as soon as you upload them or if you go live singing ....Do you keep in touch with Tom W ? Or luke? Thanx!
Mabe I’m missing something but at the start of season five when Coy and Vance came to the show how did bo and Luke leave hazard county if they were on probation
Hi, John. I commend you for staying in touch with us fans. Back in 2005, I was invited to perform at the World of Wheels auto show in Birch Run, Michigan. Ben Jones and his wife, Alma were there along with one of the General Lee cars. Alma was a sweetheart and Ben was the ultimate southern gentleman. Well, I was due back on stage for my next set and I grabbed what I thought was my leather jacket. I put in on while walking to the stage...only to realize I had Ben's jacket. His arms were significantly longer than mine.I stopped, turned around and looked back in Ben and Alma's direction. He was leaning on the General Lee, smiling, with a look on his face that basically said, "Um...I think you have my jacket". Man, I was so embarrassed! He had my jacket behind his back and we traded. I apologized repeatedly, lol. He signed a photo later and wrote, "To James, All my best. Ben Jones. PS: Give me back my damn jacket!" I had to share that story with you. Thank you for answering questions, sharing your memories and for your wonderful music, sir!
Fascinating! While you were doing that, my days consisted of 6AM wake up. 7AM catch the bus. Classes and recess until around 11:30AM. Lunch and recess. Back in class around 12:30. Classes until a little after 2PM. Bus ride home at around 2:45PM. Home, outside, homework, dinner, and bed. I could not WAIT until The Dukes kept me company on those special nights. Thanks so much for sharing. God Bless.
I loved the show and my wife and I have been watching the show again this last week. I just watched an older video of James Best talking about it too. You guys were a huge part of our lives, especially as kids. Thanks to all you guys who starred in the show and keep it alive.
I loved hearing about what went in to making the Dukes. I could listen to this kind of stuff all day from you. Thanks for sharing this info with us John!
John, I loved this video of what a typical day on Dukes Of Hazzard was like. It was very informative and I often wondered what it was like filming the Dukes. I grew up watching this show every Friday night and it was truly the highlight of my week. I was just 10yrs old when the first episode aired in 1979. I've a been a fan every since and still enjoy watching the episodes on dvd with my kids. Thank you so much for years of great entertainment.
Such a great family friendly Friday night show with good ole clean cut humor the series made its debut in January 1979 it was a regular in our house after The Incredible Hulk and right before Dallas sure do miss those much simpler and happier times God Bless John Schneider and all those that made it possible I know a few of the older cast members have passed on but the memories they left us with will last forever.
We Love the Dukes of Hazzard so much that We sit down and while eating supper alot of times We watch an episode of Dukes of Hazzard. My daughter loves the Generl Lee car that she wants to one day get her truck looking like the General Lee. Thanks for sharing A day of Dukes of Hazzard. Hopefully one day you will be close by so we can come to one of your shows. GOD Bless ya.
Thanks for sharing John! Since I'm a aspiring actor myself I love hearing story's like this! loved watching you in Smallville as Johnathon Kent. Its one of my favorite TV Shows!
Hey John' Im still that little boy that didn't miss an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard as I rode my Bicycle all around where the show was being filmed Yup! That little town of Covington Ga.We lived on east street just around the corner from where the legendary jump was made by the General Lee that hill was right beside the feed and seed store thanks for you and the Crew for the memories! The hard work and Dedication
This is so awesome John! I have been having a ‘Duke-a-thon’ lately. I picked up the complete set of DVDs and the 2 movies. Sure is great to watch the show again! This show was my favorite during my childhood as well and you were my first tv star crush! I was 11 when it first aired January 1979 but 12 by October so loved it throughout my teenage years! Thanks for so many wonderful memories John! Many more to come! God bless and take care! 🥰
Dukes currently back on Forces TV here in the UK so watching every episode.... helps when your stuck at home! Thanks for the insight in to your average day John.
So happy to find your channel. I grew up in the UK watching Dukes of Hazzard in the 80s. I loved your show. Just found a channel playing the repeats recently and it's just as great now. You looked like you had so much fun. Thanks for putting out your videos 😊
John, while you were cruising around in your Porsche to your job on set I was an 8 year old who would gather on Friday evenings to watch Dukes with my dad and grandpa. That was our regular Friday evening routine for quite a while. You mentioned the Hazzard square. I live 10 minutes from Metamora, IL and it's town square. Everytime I drive thru there I am reminded of the Hazzard square as a lot of the buildings look like the Hazzard square, especially the gazebo in the center that looks a lot like Hazzard. Good memories. Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed this video. Some of us are YT Creators and understand the concept of editing, but not on the level you experienced. Still to this day, Dukes is on my top 10 shows I love to watch.
