As someone who is an undergrad student who works with graduate students and doctors, this is absolutely not shocking. A Ph.D proves your aptitude in an extremely narrow region, and that region does not include common sense or foresight.
@@Polymerata Usuallly there's no money boost, unless the you're in some high paying field with a lot of demand for people with PhD's in topics relevant to that field, otherwise the title is mostly just a prestige thing, having a PhD sounds impressive. Though to be accurate a PhD isn't just a title it also proves you're very well informed or educated on the specific subject/topic that you got your PhD in
