Shit im be honest i watched all of the movies this week and he can pass but he cant ride a horse like gandalf bruh always look like he going 80 on a horse while everyone else goin 45 so can he pass if gandalfa blocking yes but can he pass him in a race no
Man people always use the angel argument. Go do research, the Istaris aren't that powerful, since they're immortals trapped in human mortal forms. So they can be killed like Saruman for example. And talking about feats, in the movies all gandalf can do is summon fire and light. Y'all overhype him just cuz he's angelic or whatever
Oh please. Gandalf stomps. Hey is a Maiar. Basiscally a half God or Arch Angel. Sent by the gods themselves to fight Evil itself. Dumbledore gets obliterated. Anyone who actually thinks that Dumbledore has a chance, has probably never read LOTR or the Silmarilon
@@Otterdrawings Yeah Dumbledore destroys Gandalf, easily. One avada kedavra and he's dead. His demi god state will only help with unlimited respawn, so he will be killed constantly.
ive read lotr, silmarillion, hobbit, unfinished tales, children of hurin. Gandalf would die against Dumbledore because he doesnt know Avada Kedavra cannot be blocked or countered, so if he uses his staff to do so, his staff will break as avada kedavra destroys anything in the way. He'd die upon impact. He would keep dying until he figures this out. If youre gonna say this magic wouldnt work on Gandalf, then I could say Gandalf's magic wont work on Dumbledore so for consistence sake, accepting each story's magic is equally efficient against each other as they were in their own stories.
Everything that Dumbledore does is flashier. It's just the nature of magic fights in Harry Potter, a lot of lights, fire, elements, explosions. But when you breakdown what Gandalf does and who he does it against (and think about what they did) it's just not close.
Yeah, I didn’t realize that Gandalf was an actual Maiar, I thought he was created by them, but also, the problem with this is Gandalf could be capable of the same versatility, after he is a wizard, he just had no need to use it, and so Tolkien never had him use a whole bunch of spells when only a few were what the story was told best with
1) Kingsley, Shacklebolt and McGonagall are way more powerful wizards than the 5 deatheaters who fought Dumbledore 2) Voldemort fought the aforementioned 3 wizards to a stalemate only because he was using the Elder Wand, which he was not the real master of, and at that point the Wand didn't let him do anything harmful, the book says that at the very end he hit people with curses and they just jumed right back up unfazed... 3) Dumbledore did try to kill Voldemort and Vold. had to defend himself with a magical shield, he even asks Dumbledore at that moment if went for the kill there + Dumbledore DEFINITELY didn't win that battle, in fact according to the book Voldemort would have even killed him if it wasn't for Fawkes, who had "swallowed" one of Voldemort's rapid deadly curses that Dumbledore couldn't react to in time.
Gandalf is just a shell for basic angle who was around before time was even a thing. In the movies and books, Gandalf is basically fighting with both hands tied behind his back and is so handicapped except when no one is looking like with the balrog when everyone else is gone.
I don't think most Harry Potter spells could even hurt Gandalf. Strong characters like Hagred and Dragons in HP can shrug off spells that would severely injure or kill a regular human. Gandalf just in his "Grey" form was strong enough to fight the Balrog and cracked the mountain in half. He'd just walk through HP spells.
@@theguy8474 instakill wouldn't work since it specifically targets the soul and does not actually do physical damage. Gandalf having an immortal soul means he is immune to it. As for turning him into an object, his raw power alone should protect him against such tricks
@@theguy8474 forms ainur show themselves in are like clothes to them. As it writes in silmarillion. A form of yavanna was a very tall woman. Another was a veeeeeeery tall tree. Those forms are bodies. Yes, solid forms. But are like wearing a robe for ainur. Imagine aziraphele of good omens s body lend to him, to live among humans on earth. He had to bring it back but accidentally "broke" his "body!?".
Dumbledore and Gandalf are from completely different worlds. Dumbledore doesn’t hold a candle to Gandalf, whose a Maiar . He’s essentially the level of a Angel or lesser God who doesn’t really die.

Comparing Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter is like comparing Star Trek to Star Wars. Lord of the Rings is Dungeons and Dragons in cinematic form. The way monsters and magic works in LotR is much more grounded and quantifiable imo while Harry Potter universe is whatever the plot wants it to be in that moment. I would probably agree that Dumbldore is more versatile, maybe. But Gandalf as well as any lv20 Wizard, would have the sheer power scale advantage. No, what I would wanna see is a D&D Terrasque vs the entire school of Hogwarts. lol
I think gandalf is basically immortal cause he can just be resurrected if he dies in his mortal form. The fact that dumbledore needs a wand to be an effective duelist makes the fight way more one sided.
@@instantheadshot3324 he doesn't run out of magic. Magic in lotr isn't like a rpg with magic points, it is divine miracles. Gandalf is a lesser god / angel, he carries a sword because it is way quicker to slash someone's head off than to conjure lightning to destroy them. And he can also use his sword to perform magic, so there is nothing about him running out of magic. And even if he did, that's like saying that a child with a water gun with infinite water ammo could beat a sniper wgo only has a few bullets simply because he can last longer, forgetting that it only takes one strike to bring him down
@@docomega7862 you dont need to argue with instandheadshot, he's saying the same thing in every video about gandalf vs dumbledore, there's like 10 of them telling him the same thing as you do and he's not even bother reading any. Also some one even write a fucking 2 page of fact and he's not even look at it's once and tell them do the same message again.
C'mon, man. How is this even a question?Gandalf is an immortal angelic being that literally took part in singing the song that makes the world. Dumbledore is a mere mortal that knows a few party tricks.
Gandalf is an immortal angelic being that is known for party tricks, he would get absolutely demolished by the mere mortal known as Albus Dumbledore. Gandalf being immortal just means he can live forever, nothing adding to his power level. Having unlimited respawn if Illuvatar wills it is again not adding to his power, he can come back loads and get defeated loads.
@@denizkenger52 Gandalf wouldn't get demolished by Dumbeldore, Gandalf would teach Dumbeldore how to use spells without a catalyst like a wand or staff Also Gandalf fought against the barlog for days.... Dumbeldore doesn't have that sort of stamina
I knew that Gandalf had this fight because he had more impressive feats than Dumbledore and when he survived the fight with the fire demon he went from being Gandolf the Grey to Gandolf the White which made him even more powerful like when a Saiyan gets a Zenkai boost after surviving a hard battle.
he didnt survive the fight with that fire demon, ie balrog. His physical form died, he was resurrected by Illuvatar. He would have been in the void without Illuvatar. Him and the balrog both went to the void, the balrog is maiar as well.
@@denizkenger52 But he came back as Gandalf the White a more powerful version of himself and he was already formidable as Gandalf the Grey and what I liked best about him was he was no stranger to using a sword if it came down to it.
Hell no. Gandalf has 0 feats compared to Dumbledore. In the movies, all gandalf can do is summon fire and light. And u know why he carry a sword around? Because his magic has a "cooldown"
@@instantheadshot3324 When's the last time you saw Dumbledore battle a giant fire demon and come back from the dead even more powerful than before? When Dumbledore died he stayed dead and he fell to a sorcerer even weaker than him on top of that where Gandalf held his own against a sorcerer who was more powerful than him at the time before he got a power upgrade.
how is this even a topic or video, one is a a literal "god like " being that is immortal, if his phisical form is killed he goes to the land of the gods , when he died they sent him back "until his task was done" a literal mayar same rank as sauron in the LOTR universe, another is a old man, powerfull wizard yes but a mortal man. In the movies we dont see much of gandalfs magic power, but in the books and lore they are insane. Gandalf is 24,000 years old i mean jesus.
Everyone says Gandalf wins bc of his divine nature and his raw power but no one acknowledges the fact that he can be killed by something as simple as an orcs sword. Dumbledore can transmute matter and has shields that can block any spell besides the kc and provide at least some phyical shielding as well. He can also change and redirect spells back at his opponent. Dumbledore is more than a match for creatures like giants and dragons in his own verse. Both of which have very tough skins and high AP. Gandalf's best feat is beating the Balrog and he died in the process. It's an impressive feat don't get me wrong but I can see Dumbledore replicating that feat without dying due to his great versatility and power. I don't see how Gandalf gets close enuff to hurt Dumbledore without being killed himself. Gandalf may have power of a divine nature but what can he do that Dumbledore can't replicate besides coming back from the dead?
Better/more combat experience too. That being said I see your point. Been looking for comments on Dumbledores side for another persons perspective on what could be
@@ceejaydaniel2287 Even elven lords have defeated Balrogs. At one point in time the Balrog were basically just really tuff orcs and Gandalf was able to inflict damage on durinsbane with Glamdring. Some of the winged dragons are far above any Balrog like Smaug who us comparable to dragons from HP. Dumbledore is being slept on here.
I was thinking the same thing bro, like if dumbledore used the killing curse on gandolf isn’t that kinda it for him? (I know this isn’t the thing his character would do but if it was a fight to the death then he has that as an option) if that fails he can just turn gandolf into a cup or something or even use the torture curse. We’ve seen gandolf get rag dolled by Saruman (before his transformation to be fair but it still happened)
@@acies239 what are you even talking about? Balrogs are corrupted angels, not stronger orcs. And while it is true that elves have matched balrogs, you should really do a little digging on elves of the tolkien universe and you would realize that they are very strong in their own right, being the chosen people of the god of lotr. Yes, dumbledore is versatile, but he is a man. Gandalf simply scales higher to him, and the only reason why it isn't obvious is because tolkien doesn't use flashy power moves like city wide explosions to show people's power
@Doc Omega I read ab the evolution of Balrogs in the lore. I read ab a lot of stuff before I made this post. Gandolf hasn't shown anything to make believe he can win this fight and he certainly hasn't shown anything that Dumbledore can't replicate. Elves have certain abilities but they aren't gods. Enhanced humans at best. Also seems like having all that divine power is useless if you or can't or don't use it. Too many ways gandolf can defend and attack and not so many ways Gandolf can defend or attack. I mean the guy relies on swords wayyy to often. That speaks volumes in itself.
IMO, It is more likely that they would end up an old couple together than they would fight to the death. But if they did fight to the death, IMO: Dumbledore ends up bending Gandalf over and driving him to death.
What about when Sauruman was able to bring a storm down onto the mountain range... something Gandalf the White for sure and possibly Gandalf the Grey could have replicated.
Gamdolf, a Maiar is the more powerful of the two, especially when his white status is unlocked. As the Gray, it would be a closer fight... but the demigod still wins. However, Tom Bombadil could stomp them both.
Gandalf is a 24000 year old angelic creature known as Maia(I think that's how you spell it) they're also shape shifters meaning they have full control of their physical body and soul. Meaning none of Dumbledores Transfiguration spells wouldn't work on Gandalf. Gandalf thought a Belrock for a week without a break and killed it and when he died he came back to life 20 days later because it's the nature of his body to do so, he also came back as Gandalf the white who is way more powerful than his grey form. Considering he's 24000 years old with all that battle experience, knowledge and wits. Gandalf can also conjure his magic using his hands. I don't see Dumbledore winning when he's only 130 years.
gandalf isn't exactly an old man his a god or an angel in an old mans body a "maiar"to be exact. his a maiar like SAURON "the dark lord." if gandalf wasn't held back by his old wrinkley mortal form he would be right beside sauron or a touch bellow him in terms of overall power.

In my opinnion Dumbledore might be the winner here... Gandalf might have fought more powerful opponents, Balrog, Witchking, Saruman etc. But Dumbledore has far more spells, some are very strong in defense or offense, mobility, utility etc. Dumbledore can teleport, turn invisible, create protective constructs, create powerful energy beams and attacks, he can fly at incredible speeds, I mean if he was in the Lord of the Rings movie, he could just use Apparition with Frodo, straight to the Mountain of Doom, or just open a portal there... Gandalf on the other hand, does not have such good magic, but he is an Angel and he has superior physical strenght to Dumbledore and his spells are more powerful in the physical nature of them as be fought opponents, far more powerful than Dumbledore had and has more combat experience... But Dumbledore wins due to versatility, complexity and efficiency of his spells.
the thing with magic in HP is that the caster recites a spell and hopes it works that’s why they go to school to learn how to cast spells efficiently. i would compare the magic in HP to an arrow being shot from a bow that requires the archer to be very skilled whereas in LOTR magic is wielded like a trusty sword that never falters. the elves have such great control over magic. and the maiar like Gandalf quite literally just speak their magic into existence. their will and words are reality.

Even when Dumbledoor looses, it’s on his conditions. Even being murdered was his own set up. I get that Gandalf is a God-like being, but Dumbledoor would know that, and find a way to work with it to his advantage somehow, bc he is so prepared and wise.
Fenris scales to Sakarr Hulk who is much stronger than he was after the events of Age of Ultron and The first Avenger’s Movie. A much weaker hulk in the first Avengers movie was able to casually punch a giant Chitari Levithan with ease. Fenris fought a much stronger hulk and was winning until Hulk had to punch Fenris into the abyss.

Gandalf is not only an angelic being, He destroyed another angelic being (the balrog) while Dumbledore couldn't even destroy a human wizard (Voldemort), so Dumbledoor gets destroyed utterly.
So maybe I'm off here, and I know everyone just wants to spam the demigod button. But if the powerscale being used is a Balrog correct? and they are miar, But in Tolkien's own book "The Fall of Gondolin" A man, a human, kills 5 Balrogs with just an Axe then makes a raft with there bones and sails off. By this powerscale that guy is 5 times stronger than Gandalf who died fighting one. So I'm supposed to belive that Dumbledore is losing to a wizard that is 1/5 as strong as a guy with an axe? Also, Sauron was defeated by a man with a broken sword.
I think everyone uses Gandalf's feats without enough context. A possible reason may be that their understanding only come from LOTR (books and/or films) and they may not have read any other supplemental books that Tolkien wrote that go into a bit more depth explaining some of these feats
