In response to the pressing issue of food waste, a collective of individuals in Singapore has united under the name of "Freegan." They actively engage in activities such as dumpster diving to salvage edible and usable items.
Their mission goes beyond merely reducing expenses in a high-cost-of-living country; it represents a profound commitment to utilizing global resources wisely and maximizing their benefits. By rescuing discarded food, the Freegan movement aims to combat food waste and promote a more sustainable and conscientious approach to consumption.

Hey, please dont be disheartened by the lack of views you guys get. Just know that I, as a regular viewer of your videos, appreciate the amount of high quality effort that you guys put into the videos. Keep up the momentum, and soon you will hit the views of other documentary channels like Insider Food.

Lack of views? I would consider this (at the time 7.1k views in 1 day) a lot for a smaller channel, but I agree with you, this channel puts so much effort into these videos. I hope their effort pays off.

I work at a restaurant and we probably throw away 2+ tons of food waste a day(4 full waste trucks worth) and at least half of that would be perfectly fine i.e. food that was ordered but untouched. It’s just one restaurant.

So happy to see the food is being recovered from getting in to the waste...consumers should always think 10000times b4 buying.. plan the groceries for that week not any beyond, by doing so tons of food can be saved from being dumped..And if u think the food u have prepared bcome excess for that day, u know w t todo!!! Freeganism used to be so much easier in the west until stores got wise to the fact and started locking their bins or contaminating the 'waste' - though some stores do operate with local foodbanks. I wonder if these guys are still able to operate like that, especially after COVID.

It's sad that food gets thrown away just becs it looks ugly !!!people are struggling in India to pay for food as prices have gone up drastically. Climatic changes, unseasonably rains, superhero summers are destroying agriculture in so many ways. I am glad such groups exist and Respect food in all forms. So what if fruits and veggies are just a few days old. Discard only what is rotting and use the good stuff. If you have a mental block consuming such food atest donate to animal shelters. Certain foods like peas carrots beans can be used to prepare food for stray animals.

Business also wants to give their leftover, but it's not possible since they will be hold accountable if any of it is spoiled and unfit for consumption. Helping other is not equal to sacrificing ourselves. Especially big grocery store, people will sue them for every little thing they could since the store has so much money for them to sue.

The sorting of chicken scraps in the Philippines is not just because they could not afford fresh food. It's a multi benefit action. One person, the one who gets/sorts the chicken scraps sells it to get money. Another person, the buyer cooks the chicken scraps for their food and also to sell it to people who would want to eat it. The ones who eat it are usually who wants to budget their money and prefer the cheaper cooked chicken scraps meals to save money.

collection of items from stores, that cant be sold because its too "ugly", is ok...but picking it up from rubbish bins? seriously? that's over the limit. and instead of looking at consumerism standpoint...all the restaurants, cafes, bakeries, hotels etc would also throw off tons of food after every buffet session, or end of day etc, as it cant be sold the next day etc. that should be looked at!

Good cause. We do waste a lot of food whilst many around the world are starving. The guy should at least wear gloves when going to the bins to search for the food. Please remove the ad for subscribers, it’s annoying. The woman in your channel needs to be more well prepared with questions. At times I find her asking really silly questions that make it uninformative as the reporter.
