Wouldn't it be a nice thing if the grocery stores had a discreet thing where they would lay out all their leftovers in crates near the door, first come first served, no questions asked, and that way hungry people could get food without having to get it out of the trash. I know it will never happen, but wouldn't it be a nice thing?

It would be nice, but it's the governments that don't allow it. They say that it's a health issue. I had a friend who had a restaurant and allowed people to eat what she was going to throw out. The health inspector came and poured bleach all over it. Really sad.

Jam is the English word for what you call Jelly, it's nothing to do with seeds. It's all Jam over here. Jelly is what you call Jello.

Get well Amy. I just got over the flu. I found some shower menthol bombs. They are to use when you're sick. Just put them on the bath tub floor and take a hot shower. So soothing and relaxing. They were so comforting. I had a nap after my shower all snuggled up and cozy with my cats,all four of them. You did awesome FD.

Whip double (heavy) cream, sweetened with icing sugar, to stiff peaks. Crush some meringue cases. Fold the meringue into the whipped cream and gently fold in the raspberries. Put into individual dishes, and drizzle with a little sweetened raspberry puree. Eton Mess! It's yummy, low calorie, low fat, and cures colds....fact....xxx

I used to love Cream of Wheat made with milk and covered with a cup or so of fresh, fully ripe, crushed raspberries. It 2as like fruit covered yogurt with out the sourness of yogurt.

Good job, FD. What wonderful finds. Take care of yourself and get well, FM. We couldn't cook in the dorm, either. But I had an ancient popcorn popper that had a cooking unit which could heat up canned spaghetti and make mac 'n cheese. A clothes iron with foil would cook hot dogs, so we were set!

That was a mega haul Daddy. Amy he could at least bought you a cup of tea with a cookie or 2. . Hope you get well real soon . Rest up as much as you can but I know it is a bit hard when you have family and pets to look after as we all know that we can never turn off our brain to just relax as we always wonder if things are getting done. My oldest son has caught covid and he has been sick for nearly 2 weeks with it. Look after yourself and your family hope you get well real son.

This has to be a record dive - I think it's the best so far. All that meat, gorgeous fruit, beautiful veggies (cabbage! french green beans!) holiday foods, candles and .. right now you guys TRULY NEED hot water for lots and lots of comforting teas. Great Dive. Those peppermint donuts looked so enticing. I have never seen them inside of Aldi. That wasn't chocolate cheesecake. It's individual chocolate mousse, and they are delightful. You did good ,Frugal Daddy!

Frugal Daddy, you hit a holiday haul. I cannot believe you found a big ham. Good for you. You found a lifetime's supply of Velveeta. A case plus two is pretty impressive. (A can of Rotel or two with a block of Cheese melted and warmed together is a great appetizer with tortilla chips). Frugal Mommy, I did not realize what a sweet tooth Frugal Daddy has.
