Oh my, I just noticed the gorgeous lid flip at the end! Went back to see half a dozen other videos to realize that you did this all along...And I was only paying attention to the amazing box toss at the beginning all this time. One more thing to be excited about :D
I have been looking for this game for a long time without buying it… but after I saw the movie, I decided myself to do it and OH BOY, this game ROCKS!!! Now I’m paying to reserve my copy of this expansion on Spanish. I will be waiting!
I was on the fence about this expansion...aaaaand then Rodney does a video...Shut up and take my money!! Dune Imperium is probably my favorite game ever. Can't wait to play this with my crew as well.
after playing the base game for like 6 months now which was many many runs of this great game in solo, i've finally decided to add the expansion another great video Rodney, i feel like i don't even have to read the expansion rulebook
We have a solo play through going up next Wednesday using this expansion and I just watched it last night and it was... well, I hadn't played the solo game yet and now I really want to - it seems excellent!
BTW, I have watched you for many years, even the early ones that sometimes featured your children. I hope they and you are all doing well and they still love gaming. Merry Christmas to you all!
Excited about this! It is in the mail already. I'm just still disappointed that they have not fixed shopping with Persuasion! I'm doing tabletop rules with it, but was hoping for the game devs to implement more into that, especially since they added more cards. Thanks for the video! My mom and uncle are obsessed with this game.
Thanks for making this video Rodney. Once again it was extremely clear and gave me a very good idea of how the expansion plays. The tech mechanic looks interesting and the Dreadnoughts look pretty powerful. I'll be trying out the base game over the next few days, and it's nice to know that there's a cool looking expansion out there too. Great job!
I was halfway through the video before it was taken down :P. Glad DW is delaying this somewhat until we get the upgrade pack that was due back in spring
Thanks for the tutorial as usually, as well as showing off some gameplay of it next week. I can't wait to hear Paula's funny jokes again while she plays it. In addition, I look forward to the expansion coming to North America in the future, whatever the board game gods say that the stores can now sell it to the public (and not be trapped on a boat in the oceans. Maybe a Dreadnought took the games and went to Ix with it right now.) As for thoughts, the expansion adds some more strategy and interesting decisions you'll have to make while playing it.
Thank you for this video, it really helped a lot. However 1 thing was not discussed, specifically how many tech can you buy in 1 turn. Please get back to me, could not find it anywhere.
I’m traveling right now, so can’t easily check, but I believe the video says that the buy tech action lets you buy “a tech tile”, which means just one.
Thanks Rodney! Just got my copy Thursday (long shipping delays). But, as always, you videos help streamline the learning process and clarify some of the clunkier rules descriptions. However, don't you feel dirty storing your Dune Imperium expansion on top of Chronicles of Crime? ;-)
Maybe this time I can watch it through to the end without the video being taken down mid-way through... Without so much as a "Sorrey" I might add! (Nah, it's cool. I don't even have the base game. I just like giving Rodney his well deserved watch-minutes :P)
I'm curious about the overlay...this will have a huge impact on the game...the standard engine was to get three spice, cash for 8 where the overlay now is...and get a swords master. It seemed to the way to go...how does this change with the guild bank under the overlay? Is it harder to get the 8 solari via the spice path? In some respects that would be a good thing.
We have a full play through here on the channel with the expansion - I think that's the best way to directly get a sense of how the changes will affect the game play.
For anyone looking for the Table For 1 Solo Playthrough, it is up (I don't think I'm allowed to put a link to it in the description, but look for Dec 1 2021 videos on this channel, and you will find it).
Do unload effects happen at any time when the card is in play ? Or does the unload effect only takes place during the reveal turn. I don’t understand how to trigger the effect during the reveal turn when I normally can’t discard or trash a card during the reveal turn. Also if the card is in my hand, it doesn’t take effect right ?
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Excellent video, but I have to say, I still don't completely understand the unload and discard cards. Where can I go to dive deeper on how they work? Thx.
@@WatchItPlayed Ok. So I get that "Discard" means you take a card from your hand to your discard pile. Whereas "Trash" means you remove the card from the game. But why would you ever want to do that? And then "Unload" means what exactly? Why would you want to unload a card. I think in your example you used it to double hit a card's effect or something. I didn't really get it. Thanks for responding so quickly. That's why I love your channel!
@@tomworks8004 Hey Tom, some of these questions aren't so much rules questions as much as strategy questions, but let's see if I can assist. Trashing helps you remove cards from your deck that are weaker, or less useful to you, increasing the odds that you'll draw cards into your hand that are stronger or better. You begin the game with relatively weak cards in your deck, but then will acquire better cards as the game goes on, and not having the weaker cards clogging up your hand can be helpful, strategically. Now let's talk Unloading. I'm not sure if you've watched the original tutorial video for Dune Imperium that we did, or just this expansion video, but I'm going to assume you understand how reveal effects normally work. Well now, you have a new way to get access to reveal effects BEFORE your reveal phase - because if a reveal effect has an unload symbol, it means if that card is discarded or trashed (through some other effect), you get to resolve its reveal effect at that time. This might give you the resources necessary to do something extra on your turn, or set you up for later. Normally when you discard a card, you just lose it - now you get something when you discard a card with an unload symbol. Hope that helps!
@@WatchItPlayed thanks! That helps a lot. I did watch your original tutorial and I have played the base game about five times, so I'm by no means an expert, but it will fall on me to explain this expansion (on order) to my gaming group when I get it, hence my questions. Thanks again!
If you were playing the epic game mode as the viscount would you draw 2 intrigue cards to begin the game? One because of the epic game mode and one due to his special character ability?
The discount happens right away. So if you are resolving the top space, at that exact moment you must purchase the tech card at the -2 discount. It's not saying that all tech you purchase later is also discounted. Hope that helps.
@@WatchItPlayed Thx for the quick reply! But in order to purchase a tech I must put an agent on the appropriate space which I can only do on my next agent turn. That's what I meant. To put it in other words: does the discount persist until my reveal turn?
@@adalbertblech6497 I think you're misunderstanding - when you resolve that top space of the shipping track you buy a tech card right then. And the cost of buying it is reduced by 2.
I'm not quite sure how that time stamp relates to your question. Do you have a time stamp to something that gave you the impressions that you deploy troops when you visit Tech Negotiation? Or are you referring to the ability of that location to allow you to add a cube as a negotiator to the tech board? If so, you'll find this answered here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gn2qIOdPcd8.html (each time you resolve Tech Negotiation you can add 1 troop as a negotiator).
Usually RU-vid will attempt to create them automatically, but it doesn't always work. I don't have the bandwidth to create subtitles individually for all my videos - sorry.
The funny thing is, we have two of them Bob! Solo play: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CkChIbXEE5w.html Two player: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yks7ktL75m4.html
