Everybody gangsta till space Jesus starts dropping nukes and Zendaya starts firing rockets. As a HUGE book fan, this trailer looks amazing. I love how they're focusing on how Paul struggles with this role of being the hero, which is a huge thing in the book. It's a critique of what we usually think of when we think of that word 'hero' and how it might be really unhealthy and destructive. It's such a unique take on the theme of heroism and it's a giant flaming middle-finger to the classic 'chosen one' narratives. It's not just relevant to current pop-culture, but also politically.
The dialogue of Paul comparing himself to Hitler (in terms of death toll and loss of innocent lives he's responsible for) in Messiah really drives home the struggle he deals with through his jihad.
George Lucas ripping off DUNE was one of the best things he ever did George Lucas ripping off DUNE was one of the worst things he ever did. DUNE is a cautionary tale of the highest order.. one that spins the "heroes journey" on its head in a way the average movie goervused to the three act heroes arc popularised by star wars will NOT expect
@@jacksonferrell4656 I love when he tells Stilgar how many people Hitler killed and Silgar answers "not very impressive statistics". It says who he became.
I like that his visions are presented as possibilities/probabilities (ie seeing Chani in his place during the jihad, him having the possibility of a different relationship with Jamis before he had to kill him in a duel in Part 1). It’s great. One thing I also like is The Emperor saying “your father was weak” is ironically not telling Paul something he doesn’t already know: his father was kind and did things with a heart of love; to take control of the Universe, Paul will have to set love and mercy aside to “do what must be done”
Not going to lie this is probably one of the best trailers I have ever seen period. I get chills every time I watch this. I have family that works at Warner that saw an early screening of this an she said for fans of the first film and the books that this movie is going to blow people away & for me personally judging by the trailer alone I can say this looks incredible
Spettacolare! Timothee so gangsta in this trailer. This has the potential to be Lotr: The Reyurn of the King at the academy. Big challenge with Oppenheimer and ATS
Fun little fact, when he says "my name is Paul Muad'Dib Atreides" muad'dib is the name of the little kangaroo mouse that appeared in the first movie. He adopted it as his firemen name
"Is it Muad'dib Time?" (Timothee Chalemet apparently kept asking Denis repeatedly during filming part 1, and when part 2 was official, Denis texted Timothee "It's Muad'dib Time!"
Paul at the start can see some possible futures, after he gets his full powers he can see all possible futures. As he acts he can see how that narrows the possible futures. That's why he says in the trailer he gains control. There are a few nexus points that he cannot know the outcome. One is at the end of the film.
I think they deemed Brolin necessary to the trailer, for the sake of the 'Because you lose control/Because I gain it' exchange. Because I don't think the trailer - the best trailer I've seen in YEARS - is nearly as effective without that. And if they're going to include Gurney, they have to show the reunion scene, so the viewer isn't confused as to why he's suddenly back, talking to Paul about prophecy.
what do you mean the first one had less lore?? the whole reason Denis wanted to do a duology was to get the lore right. the fist one was just setting things up. the second one definitely looks more cinematic than the first
Paul's visions are of possible futures that might be. Like in the first movie, which I can see people missing this, He cries for Jarvis because he seen a vision of them being comrades and Jarvis takes him under his wing and trains him in the Fremin ways. However in reality he must kill his friend and comrade when he has yet to kill a man. Paul likewise sees himself in the desert fighting, but because of how events play out it's Chani is the one fighting them off and he sees this through the visions he has. Hopefully I explained it without spoilers.
@@pat7917 I would consider Rogue One and Andor to be right up there if not better than Dune but it is hard to compare them to Dune since Part 2 is coming out. But as novels I would agree with you that Dune is better
The fact that Star Wars loves to overuse Tatooine as an ascetic but has never captured this level of scale and intensity of the desert landscape just shows the complete failure from the top to understand how to evolve with technology and camera work , how to utilize color and taking your time and also actual study of how a desert is dry yet still alive. You would think they would have mastered this as they keep going back but they are only going back for fan service. It's unfortunate Andor , which is a short series, probably the only Star Wars property that can compare to this level of detail will end so soon...
George Lucas ripping off DUNE was one of the best things he ever did George Lucas ripping off DUNE was one of the worst things he ever did. DUNE is a revolutionary cautionary tale of the highest order.. one that spins the "heroes journey" on its head in a way the average movie goer used to the three act chosen one arc popularised by star wars will NOT expect.. the REAL definition of "this is not goibg to go the way you THINK" PS: the scene with Chani in the killing fields shows how drastically Pauls visions can change whilst remaining very similar.. this was exemplifoed by Paul's vision of Jamis on pt1 where he was his friend &mentor guidong him in the ways kf the fremen.. then the brutal reality ending up with him having to kill him.. This is what scares him at times.. beacsue the things he sees the multiple possibilities the many futures he bears witness to when he gains full control of his powers are not meant for any one man bear
November 2023 was the scheduled release. But unfortunately there was an overwhelming 118 day writers strike in 2023. Happily the strike ended Dune part 2 was given a March 2024 release. It was a very successful sequel grossing over billions at the box office. I watched twice in theaters first on IMAX and second on standard. A great cinematic experience. 100% ❤❤❤❤
Pauls visions are never always what actually will happen. Like in the first film. He has visions of the Fremin that he thinks will be his mentor. But when he meets the Fremin tribe, he ends up killing the man in his visions.
Hey guys i just joined your patreon to catch up on aos reactions but for some reason the videos weren't available. Is there another way to watch them or could i get a refund?
Paul can see the future but it’s never a clear (or absolute) vision. He is terrified that MOST of those visions result in him being the prophet of a religion that kill billions of people in his name.
not gonna spoil it for you. But no it's not a kylo and rei situation. Chani has fighting ability cause she is a fremen. But only paul is the "chosen one" Chani doesn't have the abilities paul has.
