I Left Dunedin 16 years ago and am now in the China. I lived there in 2002-2008, English lauguage school, Bayfield school and Uni of Otago, etc...This video brought back me so many my youth memories. Dunedin is always my second hometown in my heart. I might back again for my retirement in future.
My husband and are here 4 a week and I've fallen in love with Dunedin. I hate the heat of the North Island. I love 💕💕👍 the history and the gothic church's it s amazing we r coming back I'm from New Plymouth
Thanks for sharing. I lived there for a year back in 2015. Met my wife there and the rest is history. This video brought back so many memories. Dunedin will always have a special place in my heart
Thanks for the video. Left Dunedin 25 years ago and am now in the UK. Tortuous route you took, but interesting. From what I could see, almost all of the retail shops I knew are now gone in Princes and George Streets, but I smiled when I saw that Weir's second hand shop is still there.
Thank you...I love that i can be a part of someone reminising ... I always wished as a kid that I could see where I grew up again. Yes Weirs is still there 🥰
When I move there I want to walk all around Dunedin. It’s been so long since I lived in a city (over a decade!!) but I always loved just walking all day and getting lost down random streets back when I lived in Nelson :D Having lived in a very small town down South for so long now, I am longing for the city 💚
I am Canadian. I always been fascinated by New Zealand. I am hoping one day to visit Dunedin. It is beautiful city. However, i would be in trouble trying to drive over there.
Dunedin is truly a beautiful place on the planet. travelled all over with my wife and two cousins from dunedin. coming back again for another 4 weeks stay at dunedin in first week of july 2023.
Thank you!! Dunedin is underated by many and missed often as a travel option. There is a stunning peninsula, and many places in nature to visit as well.
@@nannajaysadventures Yes, I'm sure. I very much enjoyed New Zealand (twice) however I should have planned it properly. Would do different things next time.
I was born & bred in Dunedin but left 21 years ago to live in Australia. However I do like coming back to visit family & friends. Sadly not a lot seems to have changed but it’s still a very pretty city.
@@nannajaysadventures Me too ... Came back in 2006 . I would have to say an awful lot has changed in Dunners , not all of it for the better . I was born here , grew up over on the West Coast , went to High School and Uni here , moved to West Island in the mid 70s for the better work opportunities , came back at just the right time .
After living in the UK for so many years I'd forgotten how great the roads are in Dn, i love Dn in the summer, hard to beat on a nice day, the winter however...
I was boorn a bred in Dunedin too, but now i live in the worlds biggest monster, cyberpunk city - Tokyo...I still love my hometown though, now more than before i left. I'm seeing it now through fresh eyes and it really is a gem. Tokyo has many faces and too much for anyone to see all of but it doesn't have anything like the charm Dunedin has...All the money in the world can't buy the soul of a town built by people that love it...
I’ve got some Dunedin / Catlins landscapes in editing right now. Love the pedestrian upgrade near the Octagon! Such a void where Cadbury was! Greetings to you 😁
I remember Dunedin from back in the 60's when my ship, part of the Deep Freeze Expedition, was temporarily stationed there. It has changed so much that The main features I recognice is the landscape, not the city itself. I don't know if that's good or bad, just difeerent.
yes it is changing even in the time i have been here. I do wish they would work with the historical buildings and make it more appealing in that way, sadly they are trying to modernize it currently. Thank you for watching.
Nice to see my city I grew up in. Hope to return one day. NZ city councils seem hell bent on destroying the Main Street of every NZ town centre though. I find the random box at intersections with the cycle symbol quite funny too. 12:48.
I agree... it was better with easy flow through the city. I now call it the City of Roadworks. Some funny little things done over the years that are silly eg. the circles on the roads, they are fading now thankfully.
It is smaller than Christchurch but there are many people from around the world living and working here. It is a University town and a hospital town, so they are the biggest jobs available here. If you can get a visa, it is a very welcoming city.
The first little bit of the video up to the red lights, not one person was out for a walk, must be a very dangerous city, heard some stories about Dunedin apparently young people drink a lot.
@@ReneePrice-g5g no 😆 we do have students that go to Dunedin for university and there is a big party scene with that! but... Dunedin is not just the students there is a fantastic community spirit and a thriving town with lots of opportunities and great outdoor activities
