I have to wonder how stone giants would react to clockwork horrors. If they have a bunch of aberrations locked up in the center of the world what could they do with an alien construct? Or would they be so offended by their existence they would destroy the metal bugs immediately?

In my campaigns, this is gospel about Stone Giants... and after human lifetimes, the Stone Giants often have Human kingdom allies, especially when they are anti-Dwarf. I did and always do the intrigue thing.

i also wonder about the possibility of heroically waged battle of intrigue on the part of the early giants -- perhaps sowing the seeds of the Dragon Civil War. i can imagine it as a kind of desperate propaganda gambit during a period where it might have been possible that the Dawn War could be interpreted as turning against the giants, their numbers dwindling ... the dragons decimate one giant stronghold after another only to find suggestive carvings in the smoking ruins. these carvings were actually purposely written and left behind strategically ... and seem to be about dissent among the giants, and a possible civil war among their kind, but in truth the stories plant the seeds of complex mistrust and betrayal which cause the dragon society to begin to fall apart. however, even when this happens its too late for the giants to recover sufficiently to overtake the dragons on a global scale ...
