Nice, Thanks to this, I managed to understand more about Gold Box Companion. How did you change the actual sound effects? Mine are still those ugly pc speaker sounds.
I am not expecting a response, but I can hope. I have been searching Google for the last couple days, after three or four hours of searches and reading a lot of forum posts and such, no one seems to be finding my exact problem their problem. I have my GoG setup for Pool of Radiance, no changes, I setup GBC as instructed, everything loads and starts fine so far. Problem is; no music in towns? I have the first music pack decompressed into the GBC folder as instructed and the second pack over that. I thought there was music through the GBC program?
I had issues with the music as well and never was able to get it to work right. Since I am thinking of restarting the series, I may tinker with it again and see if I can't get it to work this time around.
@@timersongaming Well... Found it. No mention on the GBC tutorial page for it and I am guessing it is supposed to be one of those "pretty evident" things. In the newest 2.65 download is a "GBC_Audio.exe" and an accompanying txt file. Why I didn't look at that first, no idea. Anyway. Run that instead of GBC.exe and you will have audio.

As for problems after that, I'll see if tinkering with various files and folder structure causes issue, but from a fresh install, following the GBC tutorial and extracting the files from the music packs into the GBC folder with no additional changes, it "just works".
Awesome, I'll have to get it working when I reinstall the game. I'm going to do a playthrough of all 3 Baldur's Gate games and then restart the Pool of Radiance series again and go through all the old 80's games.
Can I ask which version of DOSBox you are using ? I do not have the GOG version. I purchased one disk with all the Gold Box games on it. The way it's setup I don't need the disk to play. For some reason I can't get GBC to work (sync) with POR. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using the version that came with the games when I bought them from Steam, and I put a few add-ons in. I downloaded and installed the latest version and could not get it to work, so I just went with the version that came with the game.
I just wish there was an option to make it where you just don't expend spell slots period. Whoever came up with the Vanceian spell system was a real jerk.
