Do you wish to hear a tale about the dragons I do not like? the ones who dwell on the coast and view themselves as guardians of law and justice? The metallics who can turn to tyrants? Come and sit by me a moment as I tell you the tale of these dragons.

"But to us, these actions might seem quite evil." One might say... draconian.

Well if you are sacrificing people to orcus then get put to work by a bronze dragon then I'd say that's pretty solid recompense.

Bear in mind that repulsion breath can prove... ahem... very *useful* when engaging in confrontation with a ship at sea...

What an excellent look into the mindset of the bronze dragon. Not all the intelligent creatures in the world view good and evil like we humanoids do.

Bronze dragons are the definition of the phrase "You'll hate him in peace, but you'll love him in war." Honestly...I really like Bronze Dragons, in peace or strife. Warriors and generals always on the front lines, and staunch fighters for good, who will always seek out the horrors that blight the world not in an effort to stymie them, but to end them. Where other metallic dragons look at the world and try to seek out prosperity within what it allows, to me a bronze dragon is someone who knows that things can be better-and can't bear to pretend otherwise. Now as to your choice...I am very curious what became of that town with the death of that dragon. I hope everything ended peacefully. Though the arrogance in thinking one alone can hold back living beings from sin, now, that is a delusion.

All of this begs the question - would Bronze dragons be more likely to work with kobolds than most other metallics, and would such an association be a good influence on the kobolds?
@theashspawn
@theashspawn 6 месяцев назад
Almost all dragons like kobolds, both chromatic and metallic alike (aswell as any other type). Some more than others but they all have a natural affinity for each other. I imagine a bronze dragons kobolds would be alot more militaristic and loyal compared to other ones. I will one day make a video on the kobolds and this connetion will probably be the main focus of it

I find them most interesting because they are lawful good but like all dragons, they still believe they have supremacy. It’s just draconic nature. All dragons believe they, as the longest lived and among the most powerful creatures in the world, are the rightful leaders and guides. Chromatics just use violence to take what they believe they deserve. Metallic dragons are just polite enough to consider the feelings of the shorter lived folks around them. I like your vid but I really was hoping for a more objective explanation. Then again I am biased as one of my favorite characters I’ve made is a Bronze dragon that’s challenged on her previously unbending view of lawful good.

"Morality is subjective" is a terrible lesson. If morality is subjective, then that means that there are no moral facts, and therefore, no morality, period.
@lucasgood4438
@lucasgood4438 24 дня назад
Morality is only subjective to those who are afraid of being wrong. Let that sink in.
@lucasgood4438
@lucasgood4438 24 дня назад
Now that that has been looked at, let me explain. Morality is being in accord with what is good and right. "Right" being what is the good thing to do. And in order to be good and right you must keep an open mind about everyone and everything. Meaning, you must understand that both evil and good effects all people in different measures. The evil is what is wrong and the good is what is right, thus it is the evil that must be removed. In a situation for example, a train is heading to run over an old man or a child but you have the ability to redirect its path to hit one or the other you should not redirect it's path you should attempt to free the people. And if you are to far then that is simply unfortunate sercomstance. It is not for you to dicide who dies and who lives. You just have to try to save everyone involved regardless of age affiliation and so on. If you let yourself be tricked into believing that one person must die and one person must live then you are letting evil trick you. One of those people will live so don't waist time deciding who will live and instead rum as fast as you can to free the person who is about to get hit.

Excellent video I hate, however, that 5e brought the perspective of “good and evil are perspectives” because it *ruined* the established lore from all previous editions Good and Evil with a capital G and a capital E are real, manifested elements of the universe in older lore - Evil entities like demons and devils literally have no choice *but* to be evil as they’re *made of it* Now they have devils and even *demons* in the newest edition able to suddenly just *decide* to be good, it’s absolutely ridiculous Similarly, if dragons follow a Cosmic Law, and not just “regular perception of law” we might understand, then they *are* Lawful even if some of their acts could be *perceived* as chaotic or random or destructive because they’re following the cosmic aspect of Law Just like how evil specific races are no longer actually evil despite being literally curse or influenced by devil blood etc now they can suddenly all just make choices to… not be evil? So everyone is Drizzt? It’s crazy Anyway, rant over! (Sorry) Nice video

I view it more so that they are accepting exceptions. Orcish culture is evil but orcs by themselves are not, so if one was raised outside of that culture they wont be, but most will. the only exceptions are fiends and angels who are fully manifested alignments as far as my knowledge.

Sooooo for the record you are a backstabber? Trying to keep an open mind. I love Bronze Dragon. I do acknowledge that absolute .... I have not read many stories about dragon. Something that I will fix in the near future. My favorite Bronze is Crucible of Sanction on the world of Krynn. I hope to one day have my oldest PC reach 17th level as a Bronze Draconic sorcerer and use the Wish spell a few time over the course of years. The sorcery goals my PC have are to raise a sea spire off the coast of Waterdeep. Use the Wish spell to cast the spell shapechange in to a Bronze Dragon. With continued use of the Wish spell turn the area around my sea spire into a Bronze Dragon domain.

Morality is not subjective, it is just placed next to things that want morality. For example Law and morality. These two do not go hand in hand. Law needs morality so it can feel justified, but morality does not need Law. Morality is being in accord with what is good and right. "Right" being what is the good thing to do. When you try to mix Law and morality together you often face a dilemma. Do I follow the Law or do I help these people. You should help the people. Now you may ask what if they are bad people, well, to that I say, "this brings us to my main point". There is both good and evil in the world and in all people to varying degrees, but all people have some amount of both. Seeing this is what let's someone see the moral decision. Now putting it into action is what people struggle with. Because there is good and bad in all people, you must do everything you can to expunge the bad from the people. Most tend to confuse bad and good by mixing them into a puddle we call "grey" people like to glorify being grey as better than trying to differentiate the two, but that is because most can't or won't see that there is not a fine line, they are just both happening simultaneously. For example. A villan might have lost their family from a terrible tragedy. Now they are trying to harvest soles to bring them back. The good is that they love their family and want them back because it was unfair that they were taken. The bad is that they are killing others for this aim. This person is not all bad, they are just corrupted by the evil that lives in us all. That person needs to understand that killing people is wrong. Unfortunately they will most likely never realize it unless they are fortunate enough to meet someone who is able to show them the right way. This being said, back to my former example with the saving of people that might be bad. Yes they might be bad which is why you must be there to help them push away the evil inside them. In conclusion, Morality is not subjective, it is just confused. People mix bad and good, calling it grey when in reality they need to weed the bad from the good. It's a constant battle but can be overcome if you are strong of mind, open minded, understanding, determined, and have friends to help you when you falter. Don't give up. Good can blossom if your willing to do the weeding.
@lucasgood4438

Previously, I was speaking mostly about moral behavior, but I feel I should address it from the perspective of situation. When people look at a situation that may force a decision between who lives and who dies, most tend to only look at it from the one perspective, bit what people don't see is that you shouldn't be concerned about who lives and dies, you should be concerned about getting both of them out alive. For example, if someone is going to shoot one of two people and you get to choose who dies and who lives. You should not make that decision. You must find a way to stop the person from shooting either person. If you are incapable of doing anything because you are tied up, then you are just put in an unfortunate sercomstance. That person will not care who dies they are just corrupted by evil, so hopefully, you can find a way to sway them away from it, but ultimately, it is them who makes the decision, not you. Don't let evil trick you into making a decision that is not for you to make. Do everything you can to save everyone involved.

I usually ignore comments like this as I believe arguing philosophy on social media is pointless, but I feel like I need to respond to this because it is so narrow minded and actually harmful to ones understanding of the world. For every human being alive today who views an act like slavery as evil there was more than hundreds that not only partook in it, but it became so endemic in their life to the point of normalcy. In fact when empires tried to end the slave trade they were betrayed as evil people trying to undo “the good of slavery”, most people believed it was good and that ending it was evil. This is what the majority of people on the planet have earnestly believed, slavery being viewed as an evil act is a shockingly modern concept, and it’s only shocking because of how strong people feel about it today which again is the opposite of what most of history felt. (and its sadder when you learn that the main reason we ended the slave trade was on ecenomic grounds not moral ones) When someone sates that morality is not subjective they are stating that every human being that has ever or will ever live feels the same morally with every issue, which is blatantly not true even when just looking at people today let alone people throughout history. The modern era is not the end of history and in the future they will fundamentally disagree with things we believe today as we have with our ancestors. What is wrong for one generation can be seen as good for another and this can go back and forth constantly. We can easily be manipulated into believing anything is the right thing and we can change our minds on any given topic with enough reason. Many people have genuinely believed that murder is fundamentally good. It’s not concepts themselves that try to corrupt and tempt people, it’s just other people. To say that this does not change is to say that you are okay morally with things like slavery and the modern world is evil or you are accusing most humans to ever live as being liars and that you have to tell every human being what they already think. Remember that many people who committed horrible acts genuinely believed they were doing the right thing and an idea like “morality is not subjective” is what they can use to justify it, even when the whole room disagrees with them.
@lucasgood4438

@theashspawn I am glad you have commented. Not because I think either of us are completely right but because others can find a balance. I feel strongly about the topic of morality because I hate seeing people harming one another and never addressing it. It is actually important to speak your mind not because you are nessasaraly right but because others people can question their judgment. Unfortunately, in the heat of frustration, people may sound brash, but hopefully, others can read and find the truth in what is said. People justify their actions because they find the good in what they do and ignore the bad because they want to keep doing what they are doing. It's not looking and not correcting that is the problem with me. Now, I should say that I have realized that my statement "morality is not subjective" is actually wrong. You have reminded me of that, and I thank you for that. (Which is why it's important to say your peace). My comment still has its truth, and hopefully, onlookers can find these truths in both of our comments.

This tale ... was a tragedy. But ... I feel as if your story is more the exception than it is the rule. I find your hatred of bronze dragons ... misplaced. Because one only knows what will happen if one grows to hate part of that which he loves. Watch yourself, and be certain that you're not falling to your own form of evil.

@@MegaGaming11 You could do what my party does in that we use a great deal of prep time to stack the odds in our favour. A ballistae at a convenient position, some blasting powder in a weakened part of the lair... or even just sending something taxing to deal with but not overly dangerous at first in order to see it's reactions so you can put a plan together. Or if you're really mean, tamper with it's food source. There are WAYS to deal with even the biggest predator problems. My personal favourite is to insert a small device under the hide of something the dragon likes to eat whole and quickly, water skins filled with poison are an old favourite but I prefer something... a little crueler. A double pronged barb of springsteel tied with leather cord to keep it from impaling it's victim too early. It hits the stomach, the leather is weakened in the acid and now the dragon must shift a cruel knife through it's digestion. One of them is a torture they will never forget. Get three or more inside their gullet and they'll never survive.

You've really misrepresented Bronze Dragons. Of the Metallic Dragons it's the Bronze as well as Gold and Silver who are natural shapeshifters, capable of taking other forms with ease, albeit the Bronze gain this capacity at a later age than the Silver and Gold who are born as shapeshifters. Where Golden Dragons and Silver Dragons often take human form, Bronze Dragons have a reputation for disguising themselves as harmless animals and spending their time with humanoid races that way, often finding them fascinating but not directly interfering with their lives unless some form of tyranny or warfare rears it's head. You are correct in that they're natural crusaders. But I have several resources, including a Draconomicon and several accounts of individual Bronze Dragons and not a one of them have so much as mentioned the concept of slavery beyond the general caveat of resisting tyranny and there was nothing about taking prisoners either. Furthermore they're known to be very polite and kind among 'lesser' races with one account of the Great Wyrm Kielistanilopais having not only lived many lives and lifetimes among humans in disguise but having willingly serving as the mount for a paladin of great skill within living memory. A dear friend who's death she still mourns. This is one of the most powerful examples of the species and there is no great hubris there. Furthermore there are other mistaken assumptions in this video. Gold Dragons are well known to be capable of breathing underwater as well and often favour lairs with a significant portion of their home submerged. Both Green and Black Dragons are capable of breathing underwater as well and other such details. I've double checked my sources and implore you to do the same, because from what I have available to me the vast majority of this video is inaccurate if not outright slanderous.
@theashspawn
@theashspawn 2 года назад
I didn't want to dismiss your comment because in almost every way you are completely correct however you have sort of missed the point of the video. The video is meant to be taken as a first person account of someone's interactions with the world and is an unreliable narrator (I even state so in the video) and the character was scorned ageist bronze dragons due to one bad encounter early on. I do understand how I can be a bit misleading though.
