Dunino Den is said to have been used for human sacrifice and pagan worship. The Druid’s have left their mark at this holy place, and it’s easy to feel their presence all around you at this atmospheric location in Fife, Scotland.

Welcome to Fife! I camped overnight there years ago as part of a shamanic ritual. Quite a haunting and powerful place and the wee church just up the hill is gorgeous.

It is important to show a deep respect for these places. That includes these "new age" and neo pagan types who take entitlements. We are fleeting, but these places are ancient and will be here for thousands of years more. It is no accident that many of these places remain today because locals have always insisted it would bring terrible luck to destroy them for "progress". Our greatest act would be to do nothing.
@mackieoutdoors9410
@mackieoutdoors9410 4 месяца назад
Thank you for your message J. These places as you rightly say are respected because many people, even if they don’t believe in the spirit world, tread these places lightly in fear that it would be seen as disrespectful. I think deep down we all sense there’s more to our World than can be seen.
@bobrobertson9547

Not sure we should be celebrating these sites. These are gruesome places where injustices against, often vulnerable people, took place. I can understand the fascination, but we should take away the right message from these sites.

@bobrobertson9547
@bobrobertson9547 Месяц назад
@@marsupialbiology7395 By ‘modern harm avoidance’, do you mean human rights, like the right to life? Rights that you seem to enjoy. I’ll take it as a joke, but remember, other people might be thinking you’re serious and need psychological readjustment. Most people look at wrong doings in history and baulk at the suffering of ordinary people through no fault of their own. But you think its ok, its funny, its normal. It’s not normal for most people. Killing people and animals is not fun. Now go off and sit in the corner until you’re sorry. Off you pop.

Most amazing is the Scots Celtic delusion which began circa 1822 with the tartan fashion fad when it became expedient to fain Celtic ancestry because of the lucrative cottage industry that sprang up for textile piecework that all you Dutch immigrant invaders were occupied with. You's killed all the actual Celts from 1066 to the mid 18th century. You're Flanders people. Anything before 1066 is 100% absolutely, totally nothing to do with you. Only Glaswegian Celtic fans have Celt ancestry. Your people exterminated & expelled all the Celts. .

@@mackieoutdoors9410 Hi an interesting programme would be the druid serpent mound at Skelmorlie this is one of only 2 sights identified in Scotland acknowledged and by archeologists although I believe there is more. This is reportedly a place of sacrifice and sun worship although It may be for Moon worship . The sight is not protected by Scottish heritage which to me given its significance is a disgrace. There is not much on the internet about this sight and has only had limited excavation although the site is of in my view national importance. I enjoyed the programme keep them coming.🤩👍

Honestly the whole build-church-on-top-of-another-religious-whorship-site thing sounds more like a hostile takeover and replacement of the previous religion and displacement of the older one. If I had a stranger with a strange crazy religion come and express their interest in wanting to replace our sacred building with a sacred building of THEIR RELIGION that stranger would mysteriously disappear. And honestly he would have written his disappearance sentence the day those words fell out of his mouth. Seriously the absolute NERVE to not only want to built a religious building NEARBY, on OUR LAND, but literally say you want to TEAR DOWN OUR OWN and built ON TOP OF IT? Sorry but even crazy has to have limits.

the Kirk was built as all churches are on the lines walked by druids for pilgrimage, this one however has a deep history with us locals and resect the old ways and the vaults under the kirk are protected by the building and we love how it has kept our and their place of worship together, the Glen is important to all walks of faith as is the field across from it shaped so unusually ? the Pictish culture was partly why Scotland was named as the Egyptian queen Scotia from Ireland gave us the name of the nation , we have druids, celts picts and temple links in and around this area of the kingdom or nuke , st andrew and other first missionaries came here to Fife for a reason, but that's for the intrigued to find for themselves , we are an old ancient people mixed with new religions and we all love our Dell and all the stones around the kingdom and like many old communities we respect each others ways, now for the challenge to visitors can you walk bare foot and feel the power of the place as it should be felt ? theres a small waterfall and well there and if you bath in this gully it is said to heal you body and soul ❤

Many pagan buildings survived precisely because Christians and others built their churches etc on them - otherwise they would probably have been torn down and the materials reused. Two noteworthy examples being the Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome. The latter one was originally a temple to all the Gods but got transformed into a church and therefore keeps its basic shape. Of course the statues and other accessories have gone -probably melted down for cannonballs etcetera and I believe the massive bronze doors were melted down in the Renaissance to make the massive canopy called the baldachinno in St Peters basilica. Catholicism for one incorporated so many of this originally pagan sites into their system - like holy wells, holy caves and holy mountains but it was when you had Protestants and Puritans becoming dominant who objected to these things.

If these places involved human sacrifice they are surely not morally good places ....elementals can be either good or evil..? The good god did not create nature, so why worship it ..? creation ,nature is the manifestation of the conflict between good and evil..do why worship it ?😮

@@juliaforsyth8332 The other 'gods' are referred to with a small 'g' precisely because they're not gods but products of man-made, human idolatry, precisely because they are carved out of wood or cast in metals, "They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound. And those who make idols (gods) are just like them, as are all who trust in them." (Ps.115:5-8). Baal is a reference to satan. There is only one capitalized reference to God, precisely because he is the only God - there is no other. Consider yourself schooled. You're welcome.
