gibbdude The worst Mario Maker level is better than any SMB level. It may have been impressive at the time but the interactivity and depth of ideas are just absent compared to the wealth of options players have in SMM. Powerups in SMB don’t give you new opportunities or challenges in levels, just an easy way to take out enemies, whereas levels in SMM can be designed with only one powerup like the Boomerang and still be captivating and memorable.

He does recognize really niche indie games but he is not gonna come around to all of them especially the ones that he probably won't like. One of the most underrated games i've seen was zero ranger and that game is way more underrated than outer wilds.

There's the "advised" way, and an objective through line, but that's not all you're allowed to do. Dunkey not liking the game because of the way he played it doesn't make him not liking it any less valid, his opinion isn't suddenly going to change if he's told he just needs to play it the "right way." No one's opinion would.

Some games can be played wrong. A developer takes that risk removing the kiddie bumpers. Some reviewers will choose to play a game in a way that they won't enjoy.

I dont know anything about that guy or the game but your statement is wrong. There are some games where you cant just hop in and play and get the full experiance. Some examples are Rust, Ark, League of Legends. These are all games that take time to learn and have tedious learning process. My point is that yes people who make reviews dont always have the right to review a game. And a reviewer who has played plenty of games with a quicker learning process might instantly get bored.

If a game didn’t impress a ton of critics and gamers then I’m pretty sure the game isn’t all that. Having tedious gameplay and I use the term “gameplay” loosely when referring to Death Stranding is fine, but blaming others for not wanting to sit through said “gameplay” is ridiculous and easily approaches fanboy territory.

Death Stranding is probably going to be the standout game when it comes to a hit or miss title. If you like the things it did well enough, then those alone are going to make it worthwhile and enjoyable, and probably will make it a very memorable experience. However, if your tastes don't align with that exact section of the game, and you try to enjoy literally anything else about it, you are likely to find it bland and boring. Dunkey's review is still a valid review and important to watch even if you already know you disagree with him, see Dunkey's piece on Video Game Reviewers to understand why people who would never like the game can still give useful reviews.
