I love the sequence the actors are revealed in. Almost like they knew the level of disbelief would go up and rounded it out with Seth Rogen for the biggest laugh.
The progression is fucking incredible Chris Pratt - What the fuck? Anya Taylor-Joy - Well okay that seems fine Charlie Day - bit weird but not bad Jack Black - okay, I can see that Key - huh? And then they hit you with *SETH ROGAN AS DONKEY KONG*
The black and white headshot of Chris Pratt looking smoulderingly into the camera with the caption "Mario" underneath his name is one of the funniest things I have ever seen
@Allison VP Bro when I first saw this I thought Dunkey was reacting to a fake video. Or that someone made a fake video and pasted an old Dunkey reaction on top of it.
Luigi: "Let's talk about the mushrooms. Can we talk about the mushrooms, please Mario? I've been *dying* to talk about the mushrooms with you all day, ok?"
I know its not dunky, but if you want to see someones laugh getting progressively louder and harder, I deff reccomeded Alpharad's reaction on his second channel, "Alpharad Deluxe". I can't stop watching it
What's so great about this is the quality of writing. They knew Chris Pratt as Mario would get you. They fucking knew it. So what do they do? They line up an entire fucking gut punch cast and casually rattle them off one after the other, barely giving you time to catch your breath. They know EXACTLY what they fucking did.
yes they know what they are doing... They make us laugh with this ridiculous , stvpid and hilarious cast choice , so that we get interested to watch it... despise the huge chance that is gonna be a flop. Well , unless they bring in the guy who did the Sonic movie . He made it work
There is something so funny about dunkey and Leah’s combined laughter, and with Leah being in the background it adds a sort of extra comedic yet wholesome scene. 8/10 really makes you feel like dunkey
My thoughts exactly. The way it becomes more and more uncontrollable as it keeps going until Seth Rogen is shown as the voice of DK was basically my live reaction too.
His finger pointing at the screen at the end, to show his wife why he was laughing, is so genuinely funny. Like, he can’t control himself, but he needs to communicate why he is laughing.
chris pratt as mario: cracks up anya as peach: ok thats fair Charlie day as luigi: also ok Jack black as bowser: nearly loses it seth rogan as donkey kong: loses it completely
Dunkey has become so meta that he accurately predicted Kanye’s album, so in response, the universe out meta-ed him and gave us his perfect cast for a Mario movie.
Dunkey's lines: "The fuck?" *laughs* "What?" *laughs* "He's so cool." "He's so cool." *laughs* "He's so cool." "What the fuck?" *laughs* "What?" "He's so funny." "What the fuck?!" *laughs* "What the fuck?!?!" *laughs* *laughs more*
@@Gatorade69 And Jack Black as bowser is fine, two of the other actors are people I don't know, but Chris Pratt as Mario and Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong are just fucking insane and makes no sense to me
I think that concisely summarizes everyone's reaction when this was shown. Straight down to the laughter increasing in severity with each casting choice and capping off with fucking Seth Rogan Donkey Kong.
Dunkey should literally just recreate this part of the direct verbatim except he is the narrator doing the lines. It would feel just like any other video of his 👍
Something about Leah laughing and her questioning why Chris Pratt is Mario in the background as well really just does it for me. And then Dunkey losing it seeing the sight of Seth Rogan playing Donkey Kong is the kicker
0:08 we stand here in memory of Chris Pratt beloved friend and actor, in his final moments he wanted those around him to hear him say his final words “mario” may he rest in peace
It honestly feels like an April fools joke. You couldn't make a funnier more terribly cast movie if you tried. Realizing its a real thing is the icing on the cake. EDIT: These replies are so triggered and I love it XD
It's not even that it's necessarily bad. It's just that I have no idea what to expect from this movie now. Is it going to be 2 hours of silly, self-deprecating humor from a cast of people that all built their careers by playing the "kinda dumb goofy guy?"
Honestly, if Charlie Day were a tall, lanky guy, I could see him being Luigi. And maybe if Chris Pratt were still fat and funny. Jack Black as Bowser with voice editing could be decent. Idk wtf they're doin with Toad or DK.
@@Mutantcy1992 Charlie Day can be a good Luigi. If you listen to his Philadelphia performances and close your eyes, you could really imagine Luigi saying all of it.
Seth Rogan playing Donkey Kong is the funniest thing I can imagine. I’m not saying he will be funny in the role, I’m saying the fact that he was cast as Donkey Kong is deeply surreally hilarious
You know, maybe the voice actor for a game doesn't wanna voice an entire movie? It's not like Mario is known for his quote, just his WAHAAA and maybe a 'So long gay Bowser'. Also the original voice actor is IN the movie and I doubt he would have done that if he wasn't cool with not being Mario.
@@oberlin27 I'd rather the movie only have Mario go "wahoo" and a few small lines than have Chris Pratt be... Chris Pratt. Also, I've personally witnessed Charles Martinet at E3 talk to people as all of the characters he voices for hours. He's got the chops to do a movie. This reeks of classic Hollywood not understanding video game audiences. Especially when the studio is Illumination. They've had one good flick in Despicable Me, but that's the end of it. Expectations are lower than with the Sonic movie.
@@bluerexplaysgames722 Getting gamers to watch a movie based on a video game is easy as we have an attachment to the characters and worlds whereas getting the bulk movie audience, the non-gamers is harder. Video game movies aren't just for gamers. These actors were chosen to get non-fans to watch.
That's in the sequel. They're going to go full Marvel with the MCU (Mario Cinematic Universe). I just wonder who will voice Diddy Kong in the Donkey Kong Country movie.
@@franklinbadge1215 Charlie Day would be a great Toad, but if I could get him in my movie, I wouldn't waste him on Toad. He's too funny. I think Key's career was (unfortunately) defined in many people's eyes by the Obama Anger Translator character, so he's a good pick for someone to scream like a maniac too.
That would fucking suck. I hate Illumination as much as the next guy but I would much rather have their safe, inoffensive, boring animation over some shitty live action interpretation. I just don't think Mario and live action are a good mix, no matter how much CG you use over the live action. I mean, remember the last time they tried to do a live action mario movie?
@@creeperhunterD I think the point is that if it's gonna be terrible, it might as well be batshit-crazy terrible to boot, like the Bob Hoskins/ Dennis Hopper Mario movie.
Just when you think it couldn't get any funnier they hit you with the Seth Rogan. I didn't think we were living in a simulation until now, except I think this simulation is just a parody of the matrix.
I remember watching this and I thought Dunkey had just made his own slideshow of the Mario cast, then I actually read that was the cast and he was actually watching the video
@@reillymcwriting Yeah definitely, Chris Pratt as Mario seems so weird to me though This whole Mario movie thing feels like it's come completely out of nowhere, but I guess it makes sense after the sucess of the Sonic movie and the Pikachu movie, still gonna be weird to hear all these Hollywood actors portraying these characters. Will Chris Pratt be doing an Italian accent? Twitter cancel culture will be throthing at the mouth, anyone wanna guess how many dislikes the trailer will get?
@@reillymcwriting yeah Charlie Day is going to absolutely nail Luigi. I can imagine a really sad and subdued, unsure Charlie Kelly, from IaSiP, but high energy Charlie when Weegee gets scurred or excited..
