Wow these five podcasters definitely have the classic gamer wit and charm that makes them really engaging to listen to for 9 HOURS. And even better, all their avatars definitely don't give you Newgrounds cringe or "I used to make a shitty webcomic nobody reads" vibe
Yes and what I liked the most about their personalities was how distinct they were from each other, they didn't sound like the same awkward gamer trash copy/pasted four times at all!

Don’t even know who those 10 hour guys are but you can get the gist of who they are from their first pause. Guy just loves being the guy to explain things first.
I would love them to check my Gaming Spotlights and get a plot twist that they are just me reading steam reviews xD they did praised dunkey for his passion, while he does have flaws in his critique approach (who doesn't?). Which is so absurd to even review someone doing opinion pieces with constant stops. Comes off as someone who loves his own voice and thinks everything about their views are clever. They may be right at stating the obvious, and shooting blanks. Can't imagine watching 10hours of talking about things that just exist without adding anything new to the table. It's just like reading my whole replies and watching my pointless spotlights that are clearly just to please the mighty algorithms with quantity over quality (and just like these replies, are there to put myself somewhere to be noticed)... Love the name btw, and no more drugs for me

It's amazing to watch five guys come together to react to one man's content in a significantly more boring way than the original content. Those five guys are so talented. I wish I could drain all the enjoyment out of content with a team like that.

If dunkey didn't take himself seriously, he wouldn't constantly get on a soapbox to talk about how people should review games, he wouldn't have made that comment comeback video trying to defend his position on Last of Us 2, and he wouldn't have made a video pointing out how RU-vid doesn't reward quality content while comparing himself to content creators who actually put effort into their videos.

@@alexhayden507 It's because with the sheer girth of content he has, not many people are really willing to stick around to watch him, especially with so much more interesting people to listen to. So the only people willing to listen are going to be diehard fans. There are no "casual" fans with this guy. His fans pretty much only listen to him and not much else, because his content is so inaccessible. Simple logic, really. Maybe.
@@TheHonoredMadman I mean it makes sense to wanna see both sides of it, almost the entirety of this comment section is just "RAHHHH MAULER SUCKS ASS!!!" or "who makes a 10 hour video on one video?" but they make this opinion off of a 2 minute clip. The 9 hours in their podcast only contain an hour talking about dunkey, but most people won't take notice of that because they're simply uninterested in seeing both sides. It's a terrible epidemic on the internet to only defend one content creator, when Dunkey is allowed his opinion and MauLer/efap is allowed his/theirs. Personally, I don't like TLOU2, but I love Dunkey's video on it because it highlights the best features of the game in an honest way. Meanwhile, I can understand MauLer's perspective. Dunkey is hiding some flaws of the game because giving any ground to the game's haters would drastically change the demeanor of his comment section. Honestly giving each content creator their due is much better than what I've seen in these comments.
The thing they said about him sorting by new comments was so dumb. He's not avoiding the top comments because he couldn't argue against them he did so because all of the top comments agree with him.

These streams would be so boring with anyone else but you just know while watching this you’re gonna hear him silently say something beautiful or just say anything in the chill dunkey voice and it’s worth it. And Leah in the background is always hilarious
I love how later on in the ten hour circlejerk podcast, one of the five reddit athiest intellectuals complains about dunkey dropping the Red Dead 2 spoiler when literally at the beginning of dunkey's video he lists all of the spoilers
I was really upset about the red dead spoiler though I didn’t come for that at all I was it was kind of wrong and it ruined that part of the game for me

The streamers criticism came from his dunkview videos in which he gives an unpopular opinion, which is fine. Then he does a video in which he reads the comments, again fine. But he purposely reads the most brain dead comments overshadowing any genuine criticism. This is something he has done consistently for ages. You can’t argue dunkview videos are jokes, except for a select view of course.

Huh, its interesting. Dunkey may have gotten the idea of all the no more good content performance art from On Cinema. On Cinema similarly blends real life and satire into something that might not be recognizable to people not in on the joke. It turns it into a much more sophisticated style of humor, like the Tim Heidecker trials. As goofy as Dunkey's humor is, theres a shitton of depth to it. Those dudes may as well be A.I. interpretations of the stereotypical "Gamer". I don't think everyone who plays video games is like that but it's just that they embody the stereo type so damn much. They disagree and some of them seem to dislike Dunkey overall but they still care about his opinion so much as to spend this much time on it. Also from what little I've looked up about them they talk about his TLOU2 videos multiple times so it's not just this one 10hr long isolated event. I really just feel pity for them. But I have faith that they'll grow up eventually and look back on those videos in embarrassment.
there have been times wen I wasn't sure if dunkey is joking or not (he almost always is, it's clearly a comedy channel before anything else), but I cant believe those 9 hours guys sincerely can't tell when he's obviously joking. I agree that dunkey has done things wrong, took this criticism in a bit of a childish way, and constantly blurs the line between seriousness and satire in a way that can seem to be just a method of shirking criticism. I also just realized that I am in fact a Dunkey fanboy, and am going against my own wishes by getting so heavily invested in this whole affair. In any case, here are the problems that I have with the 10 hour video in no particular order: 1) Its 10 hours long. There are valid points, but who is going to sit through all 10 hours to find them? People will, I know, but condensing it down would have made it much more coherent and effective in my opinion. 2) The video's tone. Dunkey is guilty of this too in some cases, but the ayre of superiority coming off of those 5 guys makes me not want to listen to what they have to say, and the fact that dunkey had replied to one of their criticisms in an earlier video gave such a defensive tone that genuine arguments were made to seem simple childish rebuttles (You think I'm wrong? Well... you're fat!). 3) Being mean for no good reason. If the critique was of the video than why did they have such a personal vendetta against dunkey, and Leah by proxy? Dissing someone's appearance does not make you seem like reasonable people, it makes you seem insecure. 4) Money, money, money. This 10 hours of critique combined with being called out by dunkey gave these guys a lot of bad press, but interaction is still interaction and money was no doubt made. There is a financial incentive for harshness, and knowing that your controversial and widely hated video will make bank is just smugness fuel. 5) Is dunkey always being satirical? Dunkey likes some game genres more than others. He and scott the woz are very similar in this sense: they both aren't really rpg guys. When dunkey likes a game, he overlooks flaws, and when he dislikes one, he focuses on them. As a viewer, I take these things and more into account when watching his videos (brainwashed, enlightened, or informed am I?). 'Recently,' he made a video on why metroid dread was bad, but actually, the video used inverses to say why it was good. Dunkey uses satire to craft narratives. HOWEVER, he also stays away from truly moving premisces for the most part because of this. He underplayed by a long shot JonTron's racial comments. He uses satire to hide any real meaning. Personally, I enjoy the escapism that comes with that, but I also recognise the cowardess. It is a style that won't be changing anytime soon and has major flaws, but I recognise dunkey's flaws and enjoy his content nonethless.
Dude, what you said about the escapism and all that in the last part was spot on. I've noticed that too and I like that Dunkey is like that although it annoys me sometimes for the same reason. English is not my first language and I'm tired rn so maybe this won't make sense but thank you for that comment, you put into words what I felt but couldn't really verbalize.
Mauler thinks he knows everything, but he doesn't. He understands the technical aspects that make Star Wars work, but not the spiritual or emotional aspects that make Star Wars work.
