I submitted "MECHAMODE" with my pals to this jam! 18:25 While we only made it as finalists, this has certainly been a good experience! Thank you Dunkey for playing our game and for the support for game developers!
To the participants, y'all are insane, in the best possible way. The games are all super creative and a lot of them look really fun. I'm particularly impressed with how everyone worked "mode" into their game
I was one of the devs and this was the best jam experience I've ever had. Our game Blocks for Babies made it in for one glorious frame at 0:53, which my family will cherish for generations. Give it a play and maybe a wishlist on Steam, my grandson will be named Bigmode Game Jam 2023!
You made Blocks for Babies?? It was one of my favorite games showcased in the Jam!! And i'm not even a baby!!! Great idea and execution, and hope we'll see more of it if the steam release goes well :)
Ahhhhhhhhhh another dunkeys video and more comedians in the comment section!!!! You guys are so funny why you guys funny? Ahhhh you guys funny guy HAHAHAHAHAHA LOLOLOLOL
as one of the devs (wasn't a finalist), thank you dunkey, thank you leah, thank you ben and sean, and the others. please make more jams in the future. i loved my experience, enjoyed myself, leaned a lot, and met amazing people. thank you again. ❤️(play Host Killer btw lol)
I know the same style of game is actually a quest in Kingdom of Loathing, an old browser based game. You find your dad's diary and it turns into a text adventure game like that.
That context catacombs game looks like it kicks ass. What a fantastic format for a video game, able to switch back and forth between being able to see what’s going on and where, to being able to have other senses described but not immediately seeing the outcome
It would be cool if partway through the game you got a hint to type "use eyes" which let you see, and on a second playthrough you'd know to write that right away and get a different experience for the start of the game
I wish someone told me to go in blind on it. Jesus it was so cool and crazy of a twist to put into a game you only worked on for two weeks. I cannot believe some people's creativity and out of the box thinking

Dunkey I have been watching you since the dark days of eating too much taco and pizza and being sad playing mario 64. Growing up with you has been incredible and I cannot explain how happy I am that you are doing so well, on so many fronts. BIG congrats on the baby and BIGMode.
You're doing a great job buddy. Always know that you are important and your life means something. This world wouldn't be the same without you and you can do whatever you want in life. I believe in you. ❤
Reminds me of the old Multi-User-Dungeons. Avalon, Aardwolf, that kind of thing. Have never seen anything that includes the 3D moving mechanics alongside the text based stuff though, it does look really cool.
I was talking with some friends near the end of last year saying "So this year, Boomer shooters came back into fashion. Next year I predict text adventures will become trendy again.". I said it as a joke at first, but now I really want it to happen.
Jaw dropper, even more so when you find out you can go back to text entry. 100% someone's gotta make a full game out of this Get the Chapman Brothers to fund it and remake Thy Dungeonman, lol
Whoa, thank you Dunkey for playing my game! I'm the creator of Red Snow, the snowboarding game where you kick penguins and decapitate yetis. As others have said, the jam was an awesome experience, and all the devs were insanely talented. Truly honored to be in a dunk vid, and thanks to everyone for the interest in Red Snow!
Yay Gemini Prime made it into the video! My greatest accomplishment is that you seemed to be having a fun time while playing. And you were probably clenching at every jump, which is exactly what I was going for. ❤
this is one of my favorite dunkey videos to date i feel, i haven't laughed like this a lot recently but this format is one of my favorites. i love the way ur showing off cool games and developers in your community, and the fact that i can play these myself.... super cool. love dunkster
Drawing the little guy was so funny during the stream because we were all just as surprised as dunkey that it actually worked. Can't believe you didn't include the two hotdogs on a ball suggestion.
As someone who's not only doubled-down, but tripled-down in supporting indie devs after the bullshit the big companies have been pulling, I absolutely love what you are doing, Dunkey. Keep it up!
Just imagine if the vegetables were harder to kill depending on what they are. Example: It is harder to kill a carrot than a tomato. And you only kill the vegetables that you plant, so you can improve your equipment. But you choose what you want to plant. Holy shit it would make for a great Stardew Valley mod. Imagine, you plant the whole season the things that will grow to try and kill you, you grow the farm, tools, and once they are ready to be reaped, they try to kill you, so you have to be ready for that fight. The harder the plant, the biggest the reward, but also the challenge. Shit, these devs made a genius idea.
thanks so much for playing our games, dunkey! i worked on munch planet with melon and made the funny music for it! this has been an incredible event and i've loved every second of it. and a biiiiig thanks to the organisers and the rest of the team at bigmode for this experience ❤ next up: catch this man 24 hour version, aka "the one dunkey hears when trying to catch this man" (oh my god i just heard the outro LMAO)
The amount of creativity on display here blows my mind. The multi-game-game was incredible. The text adventure that you can turn 3D but still requires you to go back to text adventure is immaculate. The one where the ship in the game is the ship you're in was so cool, you can do some awesome things with this. I WAS A FUCKING DUCK THE WHOLE TIME!?
Ahhhhhhhhhh another dunkeys video and more comedians in the comment section!!!! You guys are so funny why you guys funny? Ahhhh you guys funny guy HAHAHAHAHAHA LOLOLOLOL
Holy shit, at 0:48 in the bottom right corner, there's the game I did art and design for! It's the one called "have you tried turning it on and off again?" He didn't play it in this, but the fact that my existence shows up at all in a dunkey video is so rad!
I tried some of these games after the stream, and they were so much fun. I love the unique gameplay of Munch Planet, and Red Snow is what real Snowboarding should be, especially the quacking penguins. Thank to the creators for their amazing work, and thank you, Dunkey for making me aware these existed. I hope Bigmode Game Jam will be a new tradition for years to come.
I actually can not contain my excitement, Thank you Dunk and Bigmode Team putting our game in the video. I'm am beyond ecstatic and you all made me and the team extremely happy. What a great jam this was! ♥
@@JessymphonyDev Straight up one of the most creative things I've ever seen, legit mind blown by the concept and how clean the execution was for a game jam game that you made in two weeks. Incredible stuff!
It’s been awesome growing up alongside you Dunk. You deserve all the success that comes your way and that comes from what you help facilitate. Here’s to a successful and fun FY 25
Although I've only been around for about 2 years, I've loved getting to know your channel and going back and witnessing you're journey here as a creator. You're one of my favorite sources for entertainment and I also just love your passion for and what you appreciate in video games. And to see you doing this now and giving that love back to fellow creators in the way you are is absolutely inspiring. Keep doing you bro and thanks for all yr creativity.
@@donutlegend2340does a good game have to have replay value to be good? Plenty other media I can consume once and have it be on my top 100 list. Even like the portal games I can’t replay because I memorize the solutions
@@donutlegend2340 ok but you need to realise just how inventive some of the concepts are, like the text adventure that you flip in and out of text mode to first person mode to solve puzzles, or Munch Planet
Imagine spending hundreds of hours developing your game to see Dunkey laughing his ass off having the best time playing it. Dunko, my boy, you are really one of the most positive voices in the gaming community and we’re lucky to have you
I'd love to play all of these. Red Snow, is what real Snowboarding should be, especially the quacking penguins. Race Against a Duck has the best twist I've ever seen. And Munch Planet has an amazing gamplay concept. This was all so much fun to watch, and I hope Bigmode Game Jam becomes a new tradition for years to come.
i'm proud to have finished a game for this jam, i learned a lot about my skills and limits as a developer and made something i'm happy with! thanks for hosting
By far this is the best dunkey video ive seen, it just goes to show how dedicated of a fanbase he has and how far he's come. You just know that the games in this video will be referenced in future videos. I can't wait for Animal Well.
Hey dunkey great vid! Thanks so much for putting this jam on I'm super happy I got to submit a game and be a part of one of the coolest game jams I've seen yet. The quality of games was really high and the community was great, I've met some really cool people and played some really cool games because of this jam, so thanks so much for putting it on!
Classic Dunkey is back! I love it when you're just having fun goofing around with indie games. Thank you so much for posting this and to all of the developers who turned in submissions!
It goes to show how much work goes into a fully realized, polished game. Hats off to anyone who did what they could and put themselves and their work out there.
This was an incredible first game jam experience for me. Watching you play our game was such a delight. Thank you so much for hosting this, and I hope you do more in the future. ❤
dev here, we actually made it in the video! 0:47 backpack boy i learned a lot making it, so thank you for hosting the jam and playing the game on stream!
All jokes aside so many games shown here were so creative and well made, with alot of concepts I haven't seen triple AAA studios capitalize on. Amazing job every one!
Congrats to everyone who participated! As a dev this was super fun and the community is awesome! I've also seen that people have been playing the games that weren't in this video which is super cool!
Very happy I could have the opportunity to create a game for this game jam! i learned so much and got to play so many great games. Thank you Jason and Leah for making this a possibility!!
Fantastic work by everyone involved! Of the games seen here, Gemini Prime, Monkey Mode, and Bored @ School are the three that stand out to me the most. 👏
OMG BIG MODE IS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO THIS CHANNEL Fr though im so glad it carries the same quality of your normal videos and got me dying of laughter as usual. Thank you dunkey, you make my day all the time
the best part of watching this live was all the musical numbers in the games like when they said "A La Mode" or "Monkey Mode" and "Ya betta go catch-a me"
Congratulations to everyone who participated. This was such an awesome community of devs and I hope this becomes an annual event! The day of the stream I woke up with the worst stomach ache of my life and I ended up sleeping most of the day. My boyfriend woke me up to show me that our game (ADMINISTER) made finals! Watching you play and review our game made my day and I will treasure that memory forever! ♥ Thanks so much for the opportunity! Hope to see you all next year.
