Im in Australia and started this last month at full cost. I was desperate and it really has saved me. The improvement in my skin is considerable and my quality of life has improved so much.
Hello Christine, how much does it cost in Australia? Im from Austria and here it would be like 1700€ a month, so no way i could afford it. But im lucky, my government healthcare decided to cover the costs. My treatment will start next week, so may i ask you when you experienced first improvements of your skin condition?
@@xshowda it is $1615 a month. We can only afford it as I was a housewife and then returned to full-time work as my children are school age now. My most of my income is dedicated to this medication now.
@@xshowda my skin improved within hours and within 6 weeks went from raw to almost perfect. I have occasional flares but on the whole it's a lot better
@@christineschafer78 Well, thats really damn expensive. The only way for me to afford it would most likely be a bank robbery, and another one the next year to finance this lol. So im very happy the govt will pay for it. Im suffering from neurodermatitis for many years and left behind many doctors and hospitals without a clue what to do. Almost no treatment but the strongest cortisone is working. So i really believe in Dupixent and hope it will help me too.
I am not happy with all the money Dupixent company spends on TV advertising, instead of reducing the price. God bless you and thank you for making this video for the rest of us.
I will be giving myself my first injection next week for chronic nasal polyps/hives. Thank you so much for having the courage and concern for others enough to make this video. It is very helpful and, I'm sure, has helped many people feel less anxious about their treatments. For anyone in the US, the Dupixent co-pay assistance program can drastically reduce the cost of the medication for anyone with commercial insurance.
Your video really helped me relax more about taking Dupixent. I took my first dose yesterday afternoon. (Although I was prescribed an automatic injection.). I kept an emergency EpiPen at my side In case of an allergic reaction. ( I was fine, thank God🙏) I followed the directions and the supplied Dupixent instruction video. My fiancé administered the shots into each upper arm. (The initial dose is two injections and then after, one). It didn’t hurt! 😊🙏. I slept until noon today! I love Refresh Optive to help with the dry eyes. I began to feel a little dry about 5 hours after the injections. Your tips really helped me! Thank you so very much. I hope that you are doing well.
Thank you for this really informative video! The clickbait/opinion-based ones becoming a bit annoying when trying to find information on peoples' experience with Dupixent. After a lifetime (35 years) of battling Eczema (+Asthma) and trying all the usual treatments, I just started with Dupixent yesterday. I'm so excited and hopeful, but also trying to reign it in and manage expectations. I hope you're still doing well and responding to the treatment ❤
It really work.. I was at the lowest time of my life until I started getting the injections now my life is totally changed but after about 7 8 months of doing this I'm starting to feel like it's fading away and I've been getting very sore and swelling up where I'm giving myself the shot
Thanks for this brillant video Amelia - I'm in Australia where we can get it for $29 per month via our health system which is amazing. I'm just starting my Dupixent journey today (with 2 doses of 300mg) after having been on RINVOQ (Upadacitinib) for 18 months. It worked really well for ages then started to lose effectiveness so my dermatologist has put me on Dupixent. Doing my first injection in a couple of hours and was naturally really nervous but I found your instructions really clear and helpful so I'm confident it will be fine. What's more scary is the crazy list of side effects and possibility of being totally allergic to it so I'm more worried about what will happen after I take it than actually doing the injection!
Thank you i inject myself with insulin daily but never get use to the dupixent injections always watch your video before I inject two for my nasal polyps. Thank you!
i just wanted to say thankyou for this video. im in australia and im about to do my first dose tonight, this video was extremely informational and helped me feel a lot calmer about injecting myself with a needle. my skin has been atrocious since i was 6 months old i have have tried everything in the book, steroid creams, wet wraps, topical creams, medications, UV light therapy and im sure there’s more i can’t remember. 22 years of severe eczema and im hoping this medication will knock it on the head. thankyou SO much.
I am scared to death. I just had my initial doses this past Monday. The nurse at the dermatologist administered it. But there is no way I can do this. I’m taking the next injection to my pcm and she can do it every two weeks. Your video is very helpful, but for me, it confirmed a professional is going to have to give me mine. I will say after two years of sheer hell with AD I finally have relief. Blessings.
Oh lovely of course if you don’t feel comfortable then there’s no problems your doctor doing it for you. Believe me it took a huge amount of confidence for me to get this point, it was not easy at all. Sending you love!
The eye side effects are manageable, if you keep them hydrated every day like I mentioned so they do not get infected. Personally for me I believe the side effects are worth it for the results I get :)
Dapper Blue: some people do not experiences the dry eye side effect. And you won't know until you Dupixent. If you are really suffering from eczema, don't let the fear of dry eye stop you from trying it. If it doesn't work out for you, or the side effects bother you too much, you can always stop treatment.
I got two starter injections today. I’ve never been in so much pain due to eczema. They did a biopsy and I have spongotic dermititis as well as atopic and contact dermititis. I’ve done everything! Patch testing, phototherapy, every topical steroid, prednisone, etc etc. I really hope this will help me. My face is so swollen and I have open wounds all over me. Cuts, red itchy patches. I woke up this morning with crust all over my face and i couldn’t even make any facial movements it was so stiff. I’m praying for a miracle here. My 6 year old even said “I wish I had a mommy without eczema” :(
I have never actually injected myself. It gives me so much anxiety and I HAVE to get this into my body.. I did it. The worst of it was the shakiness. Thank you for the video.
I’m just wondering if you could tell me how ur skin is now since this video is 2 years old I was just curious. My son has just been approved to get this and it’s the hardest thing in the world to have to inject him :( he is young and it’s hard when he cries every time we have to do it. He’s only had 4 doses so far but it’s getting better
Hi Amelia, I am also a sufferer of eczema aswell I wanted to know did you dermatologist/doctor ask you about it or did u discover it. I wanted to know since I have been dealing with eczema for all my life. I also wanted to ask has your skin been clearer or cleared since you posted this video this would be a lifesaver for me. Eczema has caused me low self esteem seeing others clear smooth skin. Thank you for this info and I hope you reply.
I have AD and I just started on Dupixent after years of trying creams and medicine and pills requested by some doctors. But I met the perfect doctor that gave me Dupixent. Still no results bc it’s just the first day lol-
Thank you for this video..my eczema has been horrible since 2004, they finally decided Dupixent is my only hope..i do my first shot by myself on Tuesday..fingers crossed I can do as easy as you did..im not a needle fan at all..but you have given me the confidence with your video
Is one year that I use Dupixent to heal my asthma. Sometimes the liquid is not going in…somebody had the same problem? What should I do I do? Than I realize that in Australia you have normal syringe to use…in Italy is a different thing to use to inject.
I like the syringe over the pen. I have a steadier hand and can see when the needle inserted. It easier for me to anticipate the little pinch while injecting. The Dupixent pen the needle is covered, it slipped out of my hand during the plunge then needle retracted quickly. It felt like I missed most of the dose. I switched to syringes after that incident.
I do understand why you use the syringe. For me, it's too much seeing the actual needle! Also, afraid I wouldn't keep my hands steady with the plunger. So to make it seem less like an injection, (i know it is one) I use the pen. 2 clicks and Im done. Good luck to you in your healing journey.
Is the syringe less painful than the self injectable pen? I gave myself my first shot last week in the stomach and it really hurt and left a red mark. Would like to figure a way to do it in the arm if possible
I have eczema really bad on both feet, both hands, there's something wierd happening with random spots on both upper arms like dots, and my right wrist my allergists has always given me topical treatment and loratadine which is basically Claritin I had eczema when I was younger but not bad as this and it cleared fast but now that I'm older it won't got away and the symptoms are unbearable especially the itching I'm dark skinned so it's visible and now I can't wear open toed shoes hoping this works
@@ultraboombean mine isn't painful they just itch really bad they only sting if I scratch slot and get in the shower after but I keep CeraVe on them and my hands with olive oil so it's not as bad anymore
hi☺️ thank you for this video, I am starting dupixent next month and seeing the experiences of others on it really helps me with looking forward to it despite the side effects. I really want a tattoo and I noticed you have one so would you mind sharing whether there was any complications getting it with the atopic dermatitis? thank you a lot☺️
Hello, I haven’t had any problems with my tattoos I have a few now, however I have done my best to get them in places where my dermatitis is not too bad. I also only use coconut oil when they are healing. Hope that helps!
Can you get prescribed this by a GP or does it have to be a dermatologist? If so, how would I make an appointment with a dermatologist, I’d love to try this. Great video!
Hi, thanks for your video. I have AD and cannot wait for it to arrive in Australia. How did you get over injecting yourself? Did you feel nervous about having to self inject?
Hi at first I felt so nervous and still don’t like it much - but the relief and results it has given me and helped my skin I don’t mind doing it! It is a small amount of time being uncomfortable for great results for my skin ❤️
I live in the UK, I really want to get on Dupixant as my skin is a nightmare and has been since birth! Literally tried everything too. How hard was it to be put on this medication through the NHS? Also is there any blood tests required? Many thanks
Hello lovely, ive just watched your makeup tutorial as ive also got quite bad 'eczema' on my face, and have just found this video but there is no easy way to kind of let you know about long term steroid use, so please, I highly suggest you have a look at topical steroid withdrawal, (TSW) its literally what im going through now and thousands of others are too however, doctors dont really like to acknowledge it as a medical issue although the gov website has recently just recognised it. And I guess for them, its easier to prescribe steroid creams and immunosuppressive medication then actually figure out what is up with your internal system, but honestly I wish someone had told me to come off steroids sooner, so im just advising you to have a look and feel free to reach out x
Hey lovely thank you so much. I’ve been steroid free since 2018 and I think I’m just coming out of TSW now. I know it’s such a shame that doctors do that but I’m so glad others are trying to raise awareness too x
Thank you. I’m not a needle fan and I hate I have to take this. Whenever I put in myself I never do it fully because it stings but I really want too because I want my eczema cleared up any advice ?
I am a needle wuss and I got some Dr. Numb off amazon (The cheaper over the counter lidocaine ointment didn't work as well for me) Just put it on the area you are going to inject 45 minutes to an hour ahead of time and keep it covered with something. I usually keep it on while the syringe is warming up. Other than that uncomfortable feeling of the liquid going in you can barely feel sharpness of the needle. It really does make a difference for me if that last drop gets injected or not so you might want to try this.
Also if you don't want to go buy anything try the 2-Point Discrimination Test. Just to find out which areas you are less sensitive. Like my outer thigh hurts waaaay less than the mid-thigh. And rotating injection sites is no joke. I did it twice in a row on the same spot on my thigh and it hurt for weeks
My biggest thing to decrease the pain is to keep the injection out of the fridge as long as possible before administering. As well as this I do it very very slowly to stop any stinging pain, and keep the skin pinched whilst I inject.
Hello lovely lady, I am suffering from eczema too. My doctor advised me to take it but am a bit scared of having an effect on the pregnancy, red eyes.... Etc. Also, I think it is including cortisone, is it going to effect the weight?.. Also, I am already facing the problem of hair loss. Idk... Is it that I can cut it off? Or should I use it forever to make my life better?. I mean, If I cut it off, am I going to have the bad eczema again?
I am not sure. I have been on this medicine for almost 3 years and am not sure what will happen when I stop it. For me it has caused red and sore eyes sometimes, however I haven’t had any problems with hair loss or weight change.
Can you do it yourself in the arm without anyone’s help? Did 1st dose in stomach and hurt like a bitch. Want to try arm but don’t know if I could pinch skin e-bike injecting in arm myself
Hello Amelia. I am also on Dupixent treatment for a while. Can I ask you something? Did you get any Corona Vaccination during the period you used Dupixent? Did you get same difficulties right afterwards? Pain, fainting, headache, allergic reactions etc. Thank you
I’m on my 3rd oral imunno suppressant and it’s not working. I’m hoping my dermatologist is going to prescribe me these. We’ve not discussed these yet but she briefly mentioned biological options which I’m assuming is this ? I’m here in the U.K. too and my eczema is horrendous.
@@josephqtx Wait at least 45 minutes after taking it out of the fridge before injecting. Also, I've found that injecting very slowly is less painful (or even totally painless). I hope things work out for you!
