That’s because Reagan attacked Unions, destroyed the Fairness Doctrine, allowed Mergers and Aquisitions to reduce competition, and Pardoned 3.1 million illegals, bringing in ten million MORE. Fox News attacked Democrats without any restraint.
SuperRockgod666 Of course this video sampled the James Bond movies, but in terms of scale and budget, Duran Duran went all out i.e. Wild Boys and New Moon on Monday.
@@sandfya Back then, the record companies had massive budgets for videoclips to promote the songs and albums. If you had a great idea and a cool A&R manager everything was possible.
Absolutely! Just saw them @Cruel World festival 2024. Unbelievably good! Every song was astonishing! Especially this one! Please somebody upload video from the show. It was beyond good!
I idolized this band. They were my escape from a difficult home life in my mid-teens. Learned to play bass & keyboards thanks to John & Nick. Anyone that spent countless hours in their room practicing DD tracks will totally get it. Still a huge fan to this day 😎👏🏻
I took a job as a music journo in the early 90s on the condition that I could report on DD whenever I wanted (nobody cared about them at that point.). Time has proved me correct, congrats, DD!
@@Ben-yj8yeI'm not. RRHOF is a bullshit list that only a handful of people actually control that don't base their decisions on criteria like actual talent and musical influence/success. The fact that U2 got in in the early 2000s and artists like RUSH, Journey, Stevie Nicks, etc only got in within the last decade should be all the evidence anyone needs. Many artists have been critical of this during their acceptance speeches. If I were up for one I'd probably pull a Maynard James Keenan and just not show up, lol.
@@DesertDuc after looking at their past winners I’d have to agree… they have artists like Madonna inducted, but actual rock bands take years and years.
@@renenowaylynch6423 but it didn't hit number one, I'm afraid. Duran Duran was the only band in history to hit number one with a Bond theme. No one has done it before, no one has done it since. A-ha came close. The Living Daylights hit number Two. But only Duran Duran holds the distinction of taking a Bond theme to Number One. Not even Tina Turner could do it with Goldeneye. I'd say that's pretty freakin impressive!
you do realise they had remote control helicopters back then right? even in hk martial films like 'in the line of duty' they had remote control helicopter that they flew into victims to blow up, or put cameras in them etc
"Dance into the fire, That fatal kiss is all we need. Dance into the fire To fatal sounds of broken dreams. Dance into the fire; That fatal kiss is all we need. Dance into the fire. The choice for you is the view to a kill." Have I been in the fire for 35 years? AWESOME SONG
Dude.... I played this song constantly on my own. And I'm the same age. I loved the music that came out during the 80's. There will never ever be another decade that produced such sounds and I will miss it till the day I die. Duran Duran is neither a Duran nor a Duran, discuss.😂
One thing to notice, this is the time where they tried to experiment with humor in music videos. It's not there anymore. I don't know why. I think this music video is very well produced with great humor. It even sells the movie too.
@@rune20401 Back when you could tune your auto, set of points, some plugs, some carburetor cleaner, alittle tweaking. A peasant afternoon's chore. Why so many own these old cars today. Iove autotune. But it's kind of a ridiculous comment about a tool with valid uses, and many examples of abuse. He changed the sparkplugs without a ⅚"deepwell socket!! Really!! How special! Mummy's so proud. Yes, she is!!! God bless.
We loved them, drove out 4.5 hours each way in a snow storm to see them in Hartford, CT and enjoyed their music then and still do, but when this one was a soundtrack theme song in the James Bond movie, that was even better and even more powerful. Great song and well deserving of a theme song. We loved Duran Duran, even somewhat dressed like them at some point or other and enjoy the time that this music represented, the 80s, the best era in music.
Today in 1985 "A View To A Kill" topped the charts at #1. July 13, 1985. It is the one and only Bond theme song to accomplish such a feat. Still a classic.
do people really care about the charts any more?, the music today is just a drone of the same notes in England "Beatles " they got to number 1 with 3 million sales, some crap got Number 1 a couple of years ago with 50,000
I can still remember what I was doing when I first heard this song on the radio back in the summer of 1985, I was stacking firewood, when the presenter said this is the first playing of the new James Bond theme by Duran Duran, after hearing it I knew that it was going to be massive hit worldwide
One of my all time favorite songs. And love it that Andy fries Nick at the end. I always wondered if that casting was tongue-in-cheek or if Andy fought for that part.
My123Cents ME too man! It may be corny AF, but I just watched AHS 1984 and had a blast! You should try it, if you like horror of course but I laughed alot at the pretty good accuracy of the 80s. Not all LGBT and SJW either like the other seasons. It’s somehow on purpose I’d imagine, and to it’s benefit.
This is such a great video .. I can remember when it came out and how I watched it over and over because I had recorded it on VHS tape (along with other DD videos and interviews of course!!). So clever how they integrate the video with the actual movie clips and make it look cohesive. And, that quick, blurry shot of John's grin .. and the tying in of Bon, Simon LeBon .. is just 2 of the many things that make me love this video even today.
Coincidentally, I streamed it on the night of 22nd May without even knowing that it was released that day! IMO Sir Roger Moore bowed out well with this in spite of the high criticism this movie received.
Roger Moore's last indeed. I watched it in the cinema with my mum. The ruthless way Zorin and his right hand man killed all their workers taught me that I shouldn't trust unquestioningly the motives of any organisation that's employing me.
I'm listening to it in 2024 just as I was listening to it back in 1985, and I will continue listening to it till the day I die, and maybe I'll even ask that my wife or child play it at my funeral and and even put it on a radio in my coffin so I can listen to it in death as well 😂.... The 80's were my Wonder Years. It was a tough decade for me because I had to learn to grow up fast. But it was my decade and I will always love it and always hold a deep grip on the nostalgia that it brings me, especially when it comes to music and film. The absolute greatest and no one will ever tell me differently.😉👌🏻
Remembering my father’s favorite group! Im 26, he passed away 4 year ago. But he gave me the best musical taste of all! Im listening for him to keep enjoying music.
I believe we have John to thank for this: the story goes that he met Barbara Broccoli at a party while tipsy and, being a huge Bond fan, suggested that Duran do the theme song for one of the films. The rest is history!
He approached Albert Broccoli and said "When are you going to get someone decent to do one of your theme songs?". Big words for a guy that will soon fade into obscurity.
@@Szczaqu LOL You're not a bass player, are you? He's hardly faded into obscurity, dude. And considering this is the most successful Bond theme ever, I'd say his "big words" were pretty freaking accurate.
Nice story. I was actually living in Paris at the time this film was released. I am from Bath. I spent a lot of time visiting friends who lived all over Paris and there was the odd moment jumping over the turnstiles in the metro, which kind of added to the excitement and the atmnospherics. Ah, the joys and folly of youth.
@@tappetmanifolds7024 That's pretty cool! I'm still waiting to get there myself: was planning to go last year, and of course that didn't happen. Hopefully I'll make it over next year! 🤞
Just turned 50 and this was a watermark song in my youth. Duran continues to be one of my favorite all time bands…but looking at this video with fresh eyes…it’s not a great video! It does earn lots of nostalgia points.
Maybe but they were filming this after a rough night and many tensions between each other which is partially why they were not filmed together. John had no sleep the night before.
@@martinwillis6334 Actually .. Carly Simon ... Spy Who Loved Me, followed by Sheryl Crow Tomorrow Never dies, followed by Madonna's Die Another Day, followed by Adele's Sky Fall, followed by Gladys Knight's Licence to Kill, followed by Bjork's You Only Live Twice, followed by Nancy Sinatra's Diamond's are Forever, followed by the rest.
I just got out of seeing them live in concert and they were absolutely phenomenal. They performed and sounded exactly as if they have always been in their prime.
*Wow!!! I'm reviewing all the films during this month all in sequence, so I'm listening to the soundtracks too... I arrived at "A View To A Kill" and I declare: NOBODY managed to surpass this theme performed by Duran Duran!!! You come to this conclusion when you decide to listen to a track and end up listening to it 10 times in a row!!! I love Sir Paul MacCartney's work, I really like the theme played by Carly Simon, but with all due respect the union of John Barry/Bernard Edwards and Duran Duran is unbeatable... Simon, John, Andy, Nick, Roger, Barry and Edwards: thank you!!! 00"//==-*
love the drone camcorder lol omg .... and the walkman thing .. we had quite the imagination back then and stuff like this seemed so futuristic to us back then .. so miss those days ... lol
I am a huge 007 fan and of Christopher Walken as well. Duran Duran's theme song is one of the best. This is an excellent video but the brilliant ending is the best part; "Bon, Simon Le Bon". 😉
I am an "80's" teen and my 22 year old daughter is fascinated! All of her friends love to talk to me about what I wore, bands I saw and some met....they absolutely are captivated by the 80's! It was the besttttt !! If only I knew what I had then...lol
