This mix is a masterpiece as the beginning and the very end gives you a traditional '60s bond while simultaneously providing you with the '80s Duran Duran vibes we all know and love when it gets going 🎅🏾
This the music from John Barry (not sure who came first with the theme, the band or Barry), it was on the B side of Duran Duran's single. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ndjckQHx0h4.html
One of the members of Duran Duran was a huge Bond fan and while drunk went up to Cubby Broccoli and said "When the f&^k are you gonna get a real band to do a Bond song for you?" Hence came this amazing classic. Amazing what happens when you put talent and respect for the source material together.
That was John Taylor, He was also the one who did not want the song remixed or extended to keep it pure, he stated he regreted not having it remixed. But the group had secretly gone behind his back in 1985 and made a remix/extended mix. But it was never officially released. until few years ago it was put out on a bootleg album as 12". It has a few differences to the single/movie version. Different chords in one place & and the Drum beat is slightly different. Probably remixed from original demos or first cuts of the song (when John wasn't around) so that remix sounds like a rough cut but Still sounds good.
Duran Duran was cutting edge and way ahead of their time. Couple that with one of the best James Bond Intro songs, and mix it like this, in a word, perfection! A+
It's just a blessing that the mediocrity of the titular film doesn't tarnish the song. Christopher Walken playing Christopher Walken mitigates somewhat but for every CW you've got a Grace Jones and a Tanya Roberts. Gratuitous miscasting abounds. Even Roger Moore was miscast at this point unfortunately.
I've got to be honest - I'm not a huge Duran Duran fan. But i have always loved this song. It is the best song of their career in my view, and one of the very best Bond themes. 10/10
planet earth girls on film save a prayer rio etc, Duran Duran along with Human League, Gary Newman and Depeche Mode/Yazoo created the platform for 80's pop
this extended version captures all the excitement of all Bond Movies put together. For true Bond fans, we can actually see film footage clips in our minds while listening to this masterpiece.
Hey Michelle . I grew up with Duran Duran @ the High School Disco . They were such an innovative band in the early 80`s and still going strong now in the 21st Century .
Can we appreciate Roger's majestic, yet underrated drumming?? I love how this song just lets it shine! I love how it slows down at the end just before the beautiful flute comes in :D
We have a lot of respect for the 60s but all us kids that were born in the 60s made it better in the 80s take a look at Michael isn't he the best of all for eternity. All of them after him are just a joke .
I always loved the drums in this song, and the beginning of this version is fantastic. John and Roger Taylor are the most underappreciated rythym section in music.
I literally listen to this every day. Sir Roger (R.I.P), James Bond and Duran Duran. Makes you proud to be British. Plus the film was amazing - don't believe the shite they say. Amazing Mix.
Patience. Jesus Christ a.s. isn't done with the ASSWIPES who made his Life difficult by choosing to manipulate him and turn his children against him and stole his wealth etc.etc. The Jinns/Demons who were allowed to escape Nazi Germany 🇩🇪 Aaliand her Goddamn family along with others.
This has got to be the re-mix of all re_mixes! If this isn't what you do for a living, you've missed your calling! The ideas you threw into the mix are musical genius. I've always loved this song now I ADORE IT! THANK YOU so much for this gift to Duranies worldwide!
Absolutely. The Music Out Now In 2021 I Refuse To Hear Today. The 80s Are So Much Better In Music Vs Now In 2021. I Prefer The 80s For Music Anyday. The 80s Were Great And Timeless For Music, Television, And Movies. 2021 Not So Much.
This remix is second to none. The beginning with the double drum beats and orchestration, and then add the flute at the end. I guess the middle part is OK also! Duran Duran, April 19th, 2016, Dallas, Texas. I can't wait!
Here is the challenge still sitting here circa 1986, the 'current' artists of 'pop' have yet to come close to something like this for music content and creativity. It's now 2020.
Jesus that was fucking amazing. The eighties truly was the best of times. I wish someone would invent a time machine already so that I could move back there permanently. This modern world you can keep. My soul is in the eighties. That flute section at the end. Just heaven.
@@stevenjohnson7442 ... indeed. Just because you CAN extend certain parts doesn't mean you SHOULD! This song is bombastic as it is, and you have to be careful because of that, if you're going to extend it.
@@donniehagy970 Agreed. Especially after hearing the remix that was made by Steve Thompson but never released. The percussion on the Thompson mix (apparently approved by both the band and EMI but soon after rejected) is WAY too busy and incredibly distracting and it brings nothing to the table. This fan made version is simply extended, it includes parts of the instrumental B-Side, and that what makes it good. That famous Barry melody is all over this mix. I love it.
Stefanos. That's an excellent idea, Duran doing TWO songs, a ballad AND an up-tempo number. A View to a Kill is perhaps Duran's best recording imho, especially this particular version. To me, this version rivals or even surpasses the aural aesthetic of what was achieved with the Arcadia album, the So Red the Rose.
Brilliant. When a song, specially a remix gives me the chills, then I know it's an awesome song or remix. 💯👍🏻 I've loved this song, this band since I was an 80s lad and seeing this film. Cheers
This remix is a masterpiece to my ears and mind, the last part of this when the flute sounds is the most sincere sound I've ever heard ,this whole song ,together was made by a wizard of a music genius, goddess of my heart ,a thank you doesn't even come close ,sheer brilliance ,Duran duran was my first band that lept to my heart ,ears and mind as a teenager ,every time I listen ,it just is amazing .
Who will LOVE 2 GO " BACK 2 THE FUTURE" and Re- LIVE da 80's ?. Especially 1984 . I LOVE THE 80'S and DURAN DURAN . I MISS MY DEAR BEST FRIEND MICHAEL ROSER ! 🤝
colina merry don't be sad my dear. My mum and dad are no longer hear as well. They both pass on the same date 3 years apart. 28 Feb 2007 2010. As much as I miss them dearly. I know in my heart they are in a far better and safer place. When they were here. I use to worry so much about them with, me making my own life. With my own family. Not being around all the time. Knowing they are safe with God. gives me comfort in my heart. The good thing is. If I do my good in life and do no evil. God will take me to be with them in good time. Duran Duran Is One Of My Favorite Bands. One Of Those Best In The 80s Bands To Listen To. They Have Some Really Good Songs In The 80s That I Really Like A Lot. The Reflex, Save A Prayer, Hungry Like The Wolf, A View To A Kill, Is There Something I Should Know, Wild Boys, Rio, Union Of The Snake, Girls On Film.
