Totally agree... He has been noted among some as being a fantastic bassist, tho. Just not the same accolades as the well known amazing bassists. Even in their earlier stuff, he's incredible!
Duran Duran was HUGE in the 80's! They were one of the original bands featured on MTV. You mentioned the song, Oridinary World, that's one of my favorites! Also, Hungry Like the Wolf, The Reflex, New Moon On Monday, Notorious...So many hits!
Yes. Do this one. When it came out, I had just broken up with the girl of my dreams, at least I thought so at the time. it was exactly how I felt. I don't cry, but I pulled over to the side of the road and cried. I guess I do cry.
Save A Prayer is definitely a trademark for them. "Rio" is considered to be their, and in general, a classic album. Duran Duran was and is both listenable and danceable and brought together disco and pop, even rock elements.
Duran Duran unplugged 93 is the best version of a live song ever done, required listening you will not be disappointed with lamya signing back up,,chills (RIP).. cA
They caught a lot of flak back in the day, dismissed because they were cute & popular with their female fans. But they were genuinely good, & their music stands the test of time.
India.. These guys were once the biggest band in the world around 84-85. They were biggest of the British new wave acts to land here in early 80’s. There videos back in 82-83 made MTV huge.
Still making albums and selling out concerts. You have def opened up Pandora’s box with Duran Duran. Huge great backlog. I would start from their first album to their newest. You would get crazy views.
DD is my favorite band of all time. They have a lengthy discography, af anyone wants to listen do it in order and listen to the progression and the changes in their style but still staying true to that style. Comw Undone is one of my Favorite songs from them. Good choice.
Duran Duran was one of the first bands to embrace the music video as a mini-movie. The videos for Rio, Save a Prayer and especially Hungry Like The Wolf were all filmed on location in Sri Lanka. It certainly was a step up from A Flock of Seagulls' aluminum foil covered cameras :)
I’ve been a fan since 1983 from their first album called Duran Duran careless memories, friends of mine, their album Rio the chauffeur, hold back the rain, save a prayer, their 3rd the seventh stranger, the album called notorious hold me, vertigo, winter marches on. The album big thing Big thing, I don’t want your love, all she wants is, do you believe in shame. That covers just the 80s Duran.
Yeah Duran Duran! One of my favorite bands of my childhood and all time. Definitely check out their deep stuff like Friends Of Mine, Hold Back The Rain or even Burning The Ground. You'll love it
The Chauffeur and Wild Boys really show off Simon LeBon’s (lead vocals) vocal range. Duran Duran has been my favorite band for MANY years!! Glad you like them.
When I saw them in concert in 1992, I went by myself. I was singing along with every song. When the time came for The Chauffeur, I looked around and realized I was the only one singing along. Guy next to me smiles and said I must have been a huge fan. Understatement, my friend.
@@marcicamp5222 I was a huge fan from the early days. I was a young teen when I first heard them. The closest they toured to here was a four hour drive and my folks refused to let me go. So when they reunited, you bet my butt went even if I went alone. 😍
Don't worry, you're pronouncing it correctly ☺ I love Duran Duran and please react to more! I suggest "New Moon on Monday", "Careless Memories", "New Religion", "The Chauffeur", "Serious", "Skin Trade", "Is There Something I Should Know", "What Happens Tomorrow", "Pressure Off" and "Last Night in the City". Yes, this is my narrowed down list. There are more songs I want to add, but won't. Yet.
I love your reaction videos and I was SO excited to see you react to Duran Duran!! I’ve been a Duran fan for 38 years! Since I was 14! They have such a wonderful catalog of music! What I’ve always loved about their music is that each album they put out is different from the last. PLEASE react to more of their music!! Girls on Film, Planet Earth, Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf, Save a Prayer, New Moon on Monday, Union of the Snake, Wild Boys, Notorious, Skin Trade, Meet El Presidente, I Don’t Want Your Love, All She Wants Is, Serious, Ordinary World, White Lines, Perfect Day, Electric Barbarella, Someone Else Not Me, Reach Up For The Sunrise, What Happens Tomorrow, Nice, Nite-Runner, Skin Divers, All You Need Is Now, Girl Panic!, Pressure Off, Last Night In The City. These are some great songs from each of their albums! There’s SO much more!! They’re all amazing! I can’t wait for more Duran reactions!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love 80's music! Some songs you should check out/react to are: C'est La Vie by Robbie Nevil, Something About You by Level 42, Let Me By the One by Expose, If You Leave by OMD, Too Shy by Kajagoogoo, Din Daa Daa by George Kranz, and Head Over Heals by Tears for Fears. You'll def dig them!
Having been in my later teens and early twenties in the 80’s I can tell you DD was absolutely massive when they first came out- Beatles huge- Girls went crazy
Duran Duran are one of the greatest bands to rock the 80s! One band that was part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Listen to Union of the Snake or The Skin Trade.
Duran Duran is my favorite eighties band and they were part of that second British invasion of the musical type. I am a Duranie forever. They started out as a five-piece band with lead singer Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Roger Taylor, Nick Rhodes, and Andy Taylor (none of the Taylors are related). The band is still together (all but Andy) and still tour and release new music. They just got their first-time nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the 2022 class and I am so happy for them. This song was released in 1993 and I love it but you have got to check out some of their eighties hits, such as, Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf, Save A Prayer, The Reflex, Girls On Film, The Union of the Snake, Wild Boys, New Moon On Monday, Friends of Mine, The Chauffer and more! These guys were so creative and had the best videos on MTV at the time! They even split off into two separate bands, Arcadia and The Power Station, and made hits and then got back together and continued making hits as Duran Duran! They are very special and really deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! 💖💖
I'm dying for someone to react to The Seventh Stranger or The Chauffeur...Please cover either one of these songs?! I don't know why but not many people cover reactions to any of Duran Duran's less known songs let alone their more well-known ones?
Duran Duran was one of the biggest acts in the world, during the Eighties. I have never heard this song, but it was enjoyable so thank you, India. There are many great songs by DD to react to; but if I were you, I'd react to "Rio" or "The Wild Boys." "Save a Prayer" is also a great song, along with "The Reflex" and "Hungry Like the Wolf." Any of those songs would be a great way to start off down a Duran Duran rabbit hole.
Adored this band since 1981, saw them live a few times most recently Dec 2015, they were amazing as always, best band ever. Thank you for reacting to them......... please don’t stop 😁🤗 Their 80s music videos are legendary 🥰
This band was a hit machine in the 80's Save a Prayer. Rio. Hungry Like the Wolf. The Reflex. New Moon on Monday. Girls on Film I agree with a comment I saw you opened Pandora's box thank you to the person who first said that 8)
Saw Duran Duran live in 1982, Planet Earth Tour, they were brilliant and still one of my favourite bands...seems like yestarday, time goes too fast ...
I requested this one for India to react to..It's my absolute favorite song from them, and boy do they have ALOT..Ordinary World is my next favorite one from them ..and India will be reacting to that one shortly..Don't Fret..Be Patient..It's Coming..(and i'm thinking REALLY REALLY soon at that.)Have India's notifications turned on..'cause that reaction video will be here shortly, and me,you & alot of people in this comments section can't wait for that.
Fun fact: Duran Duran was named after the character Dr. Durand Durand, the evil scientist from the sci-fi film "Barbarella" starring Jane Fonda. Duran as a boy's name means "firm, enduring", appropriate for this particular group as they have stood the test of time. Duran is a variant of Durand (French, Latin), which makes sense seeing as how the movie was based on a French comic book. The movie was released in 1968, then, one decade later, Duran Duran was formed in Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1978, and the rest is history.
Its a very Deep song...And we've all been there at one point...This song got me to move on from a serious love based relationship in my early 20's...Duran Duran was a very under estimated English band who were very popular thru out the mid and early 90's...Great songs and awesome videos...Glad you enjoyed this song...
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 YESSSSSS! Duran Duran was my absolute favorite band in the 80's. I had myself AND my room nearly 100% decorated with Duran Duran stuff. People try to call them a boy band, but it's exactly the opposite. They are ALL extremely talented, songwriters, producers, musicians, as well as all of them being absolutely stunning! A music lady's dream! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I just say go and start from there first album and move forward. SOOO GOOD!
Mostly of their songs are with a similiar content, but Come Undone is definetely one of their biggest hits in all time. It's a really sad song with you uncover it's true meaning.
Oh my God how I love this song and it's meaning. When the world is against you, when you feel alone, when you are told you are wrong, who you love is wrong, who do you turn to? At least that is what I get from it! Be yourself, stop living a lie, stop trying to conform because people tell you you should be a certain way! Also Duran Duran are one of the most underrated and misunderstood bands. They never conformed to being rock or pop or anything, they just did THEM! And wrote their own songs and played their instruments as good as any other band. And John Taylor on bass? Listen to Rio. DAMN!
They revolutionized the music video. Music videos were little more than 3 minute live performance "commercials" for record companies and were basically crap before Duran Duran started collaborated with directors to create music videos that were artistic and truly creative visually. They blew up MTV in the early 80s
One of my favorite songs of all times! I think it is hilarious you said you were 1. I was in my first year of college when this song came up.... the memories ... getting old here
Good group. They've had some hits and misses but they keep pumping out new songs. I would like to also recommend "Ordinary World" for a future reaction.
Another great song from this album is Ordinary World. both that and this were done int he 90's, but you should also check out some of their 80's stuff too. They are a great band, if a bit weird at times. :D Never saw it as an ending relationship. he's saying it's ok to come apart once in a while when life gets rough and you have me when you do like I have you when I do. "who do you need, who do you love, when you come undone?" and "Lost in a snow-filled sky. We'll make it alright to come undone now."
India, This by far my favorite Duran Duran song. FYI the background singer "Lamya" Al-Mugheiry was very successful in her own right. Unfortunately she passed in 2009 at the age of 35, so sad. ✝
The singer that does the backing vocals is AMAZING.. Her name in "Lamya", this song was a great break for her. She released an album that I think was AMAZING. He album is called "Learning from falling". Sadly she died of a heart attack, I think at 34, while starting to work on a follow up album. I HIGHLY recommend you checking out her music. Two songs I think you would love "Never Enough" and "Judas kiss / Brutus diss". But I love the whole album.
