A sonic masterpiece, Simon Le Bon is quite simply a god who walks the earth. Duran Duran are the most under appreciated underrated band of all time. I am a straight guy who catches a lot of stupid ignorant comments from insecure men but I wear my Duran Duran T shirt's with absolute pride.
Agree! Duran Duran are brilliant! I always admired Simon Le Bon for his focus on making great music with his band instead of pursuing a vanity based solo career like so many other singers. Simon is one of the all time great lead singers!

Since i heard this song for the first time several years ago it sounds in my head once in a while, it is very strange!... LIsten to that "piano"... Those voices... is like music from the sky. Beautiful. Timeless...
They are under appreciated. When a band sells nearly 100 million albums in their career and are not in the Hall of Fame. Unbelievable disgrace the Hall of Fame is. Duran Duran is emotion, beauty, talent, magic. They have an incredible ability to remain relevant as a band. Scott you are a friend in Duran.
I never, ever had cried over a song until now. I thought I was too cold hearted or something. Simon's voice can really move me. This is an absolutely beautiful song. Greatest. Band. Ever.

This week I had a cat die, and “Ordinary Life” was playing at the grocery as I wondered about him, almost as if it was a channeled message from him to me. I didn’t pay much attention to this band as they were so made for MTV I thought they were a product made from a non-organic corporate entity, but in listening to their songs now, they were ridiculously talented.
Depeche Mode? Underrated? They filled the Rose Bowl in the 80s. They still sell out massive arenas. How much bigger did they need to be? Besides, the phrase "under-rated" is really a form of deathwish. When a band explodes outside their natural fanbase into a mainstream that only tolerates them because they’re being instructed to by the will of the industry, the inevitable backlash implosion destroys them (build them up to tear them down). I love these bands too, but I frankly don't want more half-hearted fair-weather fans looking for a thing to park their boredom on. Anyway, typically when someone says "under-rated", it's really just a misguided way of saying they wish them success and a sense of appreciation. Don’t worry, they’ve got it. I agree with Larry’s comment, that the likes of The Fixx is one that fits the expression, a TRULY under-rated band, and actually were extremely similar to Duran Duran in the day, great videos, 5 piece band, mysterious lyrics, synthy yet rocky, enigmatic lead singer, European, pure art and talent all round,... but these days they tour yearly and their shows are fantastic, but truly so small in audience that the 80s would weep in shame.
As well you should! Duran Duran is one of my favorite bands and I proclaim my love in the face of all my friends. Duran Duran, in my estimation, is one of the most under appreciated bands ever.:)
Duran Duran should be in the music hall of fame why not 40+ years in the business brilliant and sell out tours 2019 wow not many bands from the eighties music have achieved this, iv been saying it for years that they are very underrated in the music industry.

THis track ALWAYS gets me in my heart. Makes me want to cry + "Liberty" is not a great album and very over produced BUT "My Antartica" is just simply SPINE CHILLING and i mean SPINE CHILLING + IMMACULATE Cry +

Simon Le Bon is an excellent Lyricist and Singer.In my humble opinion Morrissey is also one of the Best Lyricist and Singers I.never get tired of their music because it just gets better all the time.
Duran Duran has produced countless gems like this one and if there was honor and justice in the world they would be worshipped like Gods. Who is the second best band in the world? I don't know but the distance between second best and Duran Duran is astronomical.

ive named my greyhound after this song. she will be racing at belle vue in manchester in july2012. she is called antartica. i have been a duran fan since 1981. to be in the music industry and to have one or two top 40 hits is one thing but to have spent 4 decades at the top of a competative rate is fantastic. thanks boys
Duran Duran's best albums were the ones that got the least attention. Really sophisticated beautiful songs where Simon goes ful range vocally and Nick does what Nick does best.
