Duran Duran hit so big and hard back in the early 80s that you couldn't go anyplace without hearing something about them.. I liked them a lot but we were so oversaturated with them within a couple of years that I think people needed a break, I know I did.. I think that's why really good songs like this went largely ignored by so many.. This was underlined by the fact that there were so many other awesome artists and bands out during that time.. The 80s, as even young people are appreciating now, was a stellar time for future classic music and movies

“Newly awakened” ..that’s so me right now I’m using that description ..also “Born again Durannie” I have always loved them and have been listening to them since the 80’s I’ve heard these song 100’s of times but after listening to their entire catalog on repeat for the past few weeks straight,my understanding of their true brilliance went NEXT LEVEL!😎😎 I’m absolutely stunned at how amazingly great they really are!! Every album is a metamorphosis ..you never know what to expect from song to song and album to album I can never get tired of them .. they are ever evolving musical chameleons and getting even better with age .. Future Past is fantastic and a wonderful tribute to their legacy

You could argue bass is significant idenifier in this tune. So not sure i agree with your post. However steve ferrone on drums, and Nile Rogers on guitar .

All I can say is what I sensed when it came out. Some fans didn't like this darker image of them at the time. Felt betrayed. Was silly. And I even used to. Get in arguments with guys in high school over the better Duran Duran.

The video captures their most R&B groove. 1986, and the their first release "Notorious" almost reached #1 in the U.S. Yet this follow-up song was almost entirely ignored by the radio. Then "Meet El Presidente" met the same doom on the top-40 charts. Which goes to show that the United States was always culturally fickle.

My friends and I were in Venice, Italy in February 1987 at a club there when I first heard the single for Skin Trade. The DJ spun the record and played the video on a huge screen along one of the walls of the club. It was fucking magical, all the hot Italian girls squealing with delight as it played. Notorious was a splendid album in 1987. Duran Duran proved it was still the great band of that era, hands down.

Definitely an underrated tune! I love that this song has a particularly unique, almost playful, soul-like and jazzy sound to it. Simon Le Bon's vocal inflections here are masterfully utilized here. Love the trumpet and sax work, as well. True musicianship all the way!

Yo me acuerdo de esta cancion de Duran Duran del 86 como si fuera ayer, se escuchaba mucho en la radio y El video mucho airplay en MTV. Election Day de Arcadia tambien fue otro tema de Simon y Nick que se escucho mucho El año despues, ! Grandes recuerdos y Tengo 54 años!

Notorious and Big Thing are 2 of the most transitional albums for Duran Duran and to me the best at the time!!! They are still as haunting and magical as ever in 2018. Nothing like these guys has ever come out in music that impressed me as much as Duran Duran.

Of all their songs I often forget to listen to this. Yet, when I do.....I'm taken back to that warm summer. When I first really got I to DD , and now, i look back on this track and video with a feeling they were so under appreciated with these tracks. I Love this as much now as I did back then without any nostalgic retrospective haze.
