Another great video! It would be great to explore the Ottawa abandoned stations :o (all around the suburbs you can still see abandoned railway bridges, alignments and the stations in Kanata, Orleans, etc.)
KISHANTH JEYAMOORTHY yup, a weekly CN train with 3 cars goes down the beach burg subdivision to a Nylon factory. The timing is Wednesday 11:00 am if your near Greenbank railway bridge at the school board.
@@AwesGamingSuBScriBe417 Due to Ottawa's lack of "heavy" industry due to the economy being dominated by another type of industry. And the "goods" not moving by train but in cars due to the convenient station being kicked out of downtown as a "centennial celebration" project.
@KISHANTH JEYAMOORTHY The "goods" I'm speaking of are people from Ottawa's primary industry. The original passenger station was located right downtown, less than ten minute walk away from the doors of the Parliament Buildings. It closed in 1966, and used as visitors centre for Canada's Centennial Celebration in 1967. Then converted into the Government Conference Centre for meetings, and now the temporary home to the Senate while the Parliament Buildings are under major renovations. The new modern Ottawa Station opened in 1966 in a semi-suburban area about 4 km away from downtown. This is why Canada's politicians no longer ride or care about trains.
Great video! What surprises me is the comparable drive/train times. from Beaverton to Toronto now is only 15 min faster (evening, non peak direction) than the train was. Also, how awesome would it have been to train to Dagmar, and get some skiing in?!
Fantastic video, I remember every one of these stations and stops when I rode the 'Dayliner' from Peterborough. It was a three (3) then eventually a two (2) Budd-car passenger service from Havelock. Please do a 'Via Rail Lost Stations' episode of Victoria County, Peterborough County, The Windsor/Detroit tunnel and the Sarnia/Port Huron Tunnel. I challenge you to do a special 'lost stations' show on the passenger rail service from Detroit to Buffalo through south-western Ontario. Thank-you kindly for your dedication to real Canadian history.
I’ve added Peterborough and Niagara Region to my list (for the Detroit-Buffalo line)! I’ll see about doing your other suggestions as well, however those are a bit farther away for me, so it will probably be a while before I can film them. Where’s Victoria county?
@@VanishingUnderground Lindsay, Ont. is located in Victoria county. It may be called the City of Kawartha Lakes now. The Detroit to Buffalo line ran through my farm. Passenger service ended in the late 70s, although I don't believe it was Amtrak. It had a stop in St. Thomas, but not London. Apparently, the line received a $1.2 billion funding from the US gov't to open up again, but that was when Trump was President. Thanks for your work, it's well done.
Halton only has one at Burlington - I talked about it a bit in my lost GO stations video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YevKglcawyI.html
