It should also be noted that for the Unionville station continued to have some passenger service once a year during Doors Open. The York-Durham Heritage Railway operated an express service between the historic Markham station and Unionville station on those weekends. This allowed people to utilize the parking lot of Markham and still enjoy the festivities in Unionville. This continued until 2018 when GO started weekend service on the line in 2019, ending the YDHR's rare mileage trips at this location.

I actually rode the YDHR. But, did it end???

@@bohdantelychko8155 no, we are still in operation as an organization. Train rides are on hold due to government restrictions. We have four themed retail stores open (2x Harry Potter, one Polar Express, and one Christmas Station) to provide revenue until train service can resume regularly.

When I was very young, I lived in Unionville and remember when that station served steam locomotive powered trains and you could see crates of chicks on the platform. From Unionville, we moved to Oakville and I remember the CN trains going through there, the start of GO service and also the Lorne Park station. I also used the old Exhibition stop for the CNE.

Fantastic concept and fantastic execution! I look forward to binging the rest of your videos over the next few days. Another GO station which was closed was the original Weston GO station, which was located on the north side of Lawrence. It was demolished in 2013 to make room for the ramps down into the new railway tunnel under the Weston neighbourhood. The present Weston station opened at the same time, located on the south side of Lawrence.

I absolutely love your videos, and appreciate the research, finding old aerial shots, especially high quality ones can be pretty difficult. I have a few photos of the old Lorne park station, I wish they could have been included in this video! Awesome work VU

Thanks so much! I’m thinking of remaking this video sometime in 2021, and I’d love to include your photos! My email is in the About tab of my channel page if you would like to share them with me.

From germany: I miss the GO Bus and the GTA. I passed so many times thru Clarkson GO going from and to Meadowvale.. Or parking my car at Dixie Go and going to Toronto. I stayed in Sauga city for 6 months to move to Montreal for another 6 months. Now I miss Canada so much.

There was also an old station at York University. It still exists but trains no longer stop there and it is not listed on the GO website.

I explored it in a separate video. I’m not sure if it’s fully abandoned yet as they installed new PRESTO equipment: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jdWoPW9-7PE.html

What the name of the background music? I had a hard time listening to the video because its so groovy! A vaccine to my depression! Very interesting history about Lorne park as it never had a station replace it. TBH I am glad GO transit relocate the Unionville station. Because it wont work well if they destroy all the historic area just for parking. shows that GO maybe has abit of soul after all!

The song is Mirror Mirror by Diamond Ortiz. Definitely agree with your thoughts on Unionville too - it’s a lot better positioned now to connect with Downtown Markham as well

Okay well no public access. In Warden Station there is public access to the abandoned CN tracks through the forest but not the bridge.

Who knew Exhibition moved! Great history here. So much potential. I wished GO had consistent service throughout the day, rather than the commuter idea.

GO on the Lakeshore lines does have all-day and weekend service. Making it viable for going to Toronto on the weekends.
