This is about my sister. All three of us siblings (me, the oldest, a younger brother, and the youngest is my sister) were born by cessation because of different reasons. My sister's reason was that she was too big, so when they opened my mom to take her out, she was so big, the doctor had to stand on the bed to remove her from my mom's belly. My father told me it was the scariest yet funniest shit he's ever seen.

Cool science thing: very VERY common for women (and female animals) to go into labor during or before storms because the barometric pressure leads to a thinning of the amniotic sac and labor being induced! This is part of the reason you're not meant to be flying in later pregnancy. The barometric pressure changes caused by being in an airplane can easily induce labor.

Pre birth but still worth talking about. When my mom was about five months pregnant with one of my sisters, after a routine ultrasound, she got a call from the clinic that they'd found something up with the baby. My mom was panicking all weekend until she could get in on Monday because apparently they aren't allowed to give that information over the phone. She gets in and they tell her that the baby is small. That's it. That's what they gave her heart palpitations over. Neither me nor any of my siblings were particularly large babies and my mom herself is only about 5'3", nobody in the family is that tall either. She was furious lol. My sister just turned nine, she's doing fine.

Every sonogram they did had me splayed out and swimming around 😂 the doctor told my mom "she basically had an olympic sized swimming pool in there so its no surprised her muscles are more developed." Then when I had my daughter, I had the same pool in my uterus. The jurses had trouble wrapping her because her little arms and legs were just too strong. Cue them handing her to me and she lifted her head to look at me seriously confused. The burses kept telling everyone who came into their shifts that there was a newborn who is lifting her he ad already. They had to come and see her lol. She also had NO problem latching. They were confused, a little back and forth before they realized i’m in active labor. Offered to escort me to Labor and Delivery, i got in my room, and the waiting game began. My mom was called by a frantic technician while she was pregnant with me, saying she had to come right back to the hospital because she had double the count of something in her labs that indicated I had a severe birth defect or genetic problem. My mother had to calm her down over the phone and told her to just read out the result because she wasn’t trying to go back to the doctor that week lol. She said she’d just figure it out if there was a problem. In the middle of the nurse explaining that the results indicated downs syndrome, and a bizarrely high risk of some additional complications like cleft lip, dwarfism, etc…, she paused and just said, “Oh. Lemme call you back.” The nurse had misread the labs. Specifically the part that said my mom was pregnant with TWINS 😂 Once she divided the count by two, whatever freakishly intense case of Down’s Syndrome that had appeared in the results was totally normal lol. Had a similar case with my brother. Right out the womb, all he did was eat. Would suck down a bottle and a half of formula AFTER sucking my mom dry of milk. Nurse kept telling my mom she was overfeeding him and that he’d get fat (this was baby #4, and I’m pretty sure he was the only one of us who ate that much as a newborn) Fast forward 12 years and he’s still a black hole when it comes to food. No, he’s not overweight. He’s bulky, but that’s literally his body type. I’ve seen this kid eat 3+ plates of food before anyone else could finish their first. He likes food, what can I say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My mom told me when I was born I was face down and I wasn’t making any noise or moving. When the nurses got me breathing, I screamed the loudest anyone had heard a baby scream, the hospital staff were genuinely shocked. My parents were very relieved, my dad said it was the best thing he’s ever heard. I was a really small baby, a bit premature. Before I was born they told my mom I was going to have Down syndrome, and that abortion was an option. Turns out I didn’t have Down syndrome, just grew up to find out I’m autistic and have chronic illnesses. Really interesting stuff.

I have a crazy birth story. Sorry ahead of time. When I was in labor with my son I was using hypno birthing and had an emergency induction. I was trying hard to avoid an epidural which I ended up needing anyway. At almost 25 hours into labor and a nurse came to check my progress. I was at a 6. She had me get on my side (call button behind me) and gave me a peanut ball. That's s special pillow that's supposed to speed labor up. I told her I was starting to feel my contractions again so she sent in the anesthesiologist to give me more meds, told me we still had a while and left. Anesthesiologist told me it may be 15-20 minutes before I felt any relief. I said that's fine I will just listen to my hypno birthing again. I do and he leaves. My husband decides to use the bathroom leaving me in the room by myself. Suddenly I can feel my son turning and realize I am in transition. It's going really fast. I kept concentrating on my hypno birthing breathing through each contraction. I then start throwing up a lot, all the pain went away and I felt something pop. My husband comes out of the bathroom and I said that I think I threw up my catheter and asked for him to call the nurse. He does and she comes into check. She looks and says "um.........that's not your catheter, that's your babies head. I said no it's not. She said it was, lifted my leg to remove the peanut ball, and he literally fell out. This was my second child so I guess with the hypno birthing my body just knew what to do and took over. Later some of the nurses told me I traumatized the whole labor and delivery floor.

My grandma looks completely white though. My older sister and I have different bio dads but my dad adopted her. Mom thought id be born dark like my sister. But I was completely white. I did get darker as I got older but I never got as dark as my sister. You never know what you're going to get with genetics.

My mom says when I was born, she was a little delirious from the pain and was confused as to what the hell this creature was. Her initially reaction was, "It's not mine. I wasn't pregnant. My head hurts. Not mine." Of course, it was pain induced delirium. Once she calmed down, she saw me swaddled in blankets and realized that was, in fact, her child, and was so relieved to see me that she started sobbing and apologizing.

Well I was delivered (I think C-section) after 9 ½ hours cause mom said peace out. Turns out I was over 9 pounds as a newborn. The doctor looked mom in the eyes and said your child is a moose. And dad laughed and teased mom to the point where the nurses asked her if she wanted them to make him leave 😂
