Only thing I'd add would be The Witch's Vanity, so it gives you a free aura in the future. Got a lot of reanimations because of that extra enchantment

Especially with access to valgavoths lair I think the way to enable victor is Calix, guided by fate. Before duskmourn released I had an abzan enchantment stompy deck using builders talent, hunters talent, lord skitters blessing, and spellbook vendor as the main enchantments and then Invasion of theros and calix as payoffs, victor fits perfectly in the list. For invasion targets Heliod the radiant dawn and ossification worked well.

Defiled Crypt/Cadaver Lab and Grand Entryway/Elegant Rotunda both give you 3 triggers for Victor .....this also seems like the best home for Ghostly Dancers

I've been playing a similar deck and it's done me pretty proud. I do add in some Aven Interrupters to help with board wipes and Nurturing Pixies to pick up some of the enchantments, though

I feel like slumbering keepguard could be good too, just because the extra sorting is nice. Not to mention an out of nowhere attack if you can manage to keep stuff on the board.

I played against a Victor deck that runs the rooms which make enchantment creature tokens. Opp was able to trigger the 3x eerie a few times during our match to bring out Valgavoth from the graveyard

Jeff Hoogland talked about the whole “luck vs skill” thing in Magic a while ago, and he made many of the same points you did. Talking to someone in his chat, he said, “So basically what you’re saying is that there’s no skill in Magic, it’s all variance based on the cards you draw, which is just not true. I mean, there’s a reason why you see the same people consistently in the top 8 at major events, and that’s because Magic is predominantly a skill game. Deck seems sweet. Would be fun to play in paper. I'd be super tempted to squeeze in a couple of pixies and Sporogenic Infections. Not too difficult to make Infection a 2-for-1 & might make Victor's third trigger easier too. Maybe a couple of Ethereal Armor sb for the monored matchups.

Spiteful hexmage .. when it enters attach cursed role to creature you control. When you cast 2nd hexmage, can't you target a creature that already has cursed role... It just can only have one role token per player so it would sac the first curse role... Match up @ like 32min. Anyways, I think I'm gonna try this deck, nice brew!

On the topic of bannings. WoTC doesn't usually go after dominant decks (something is going to be/needs to be the best). They'll step in when something is unbeatable or format warping after giving the players a chance to try and figure out a solution with the available tools.

The only card I'd suggest testing is Sporogenic Infection as a sideboard option against big creature decks. With Eriette in play it effectively removes 2 creatures immediately by making them sac 1 and the other cant' attack, then you trade the 1 life proc at end of turn.

ive been playing hella victor. I have actually reanimated other from openents gy quite often. actually have gotten oppents valgavoth a couple of times. a synergy i want to try is delney plus hexmage wicked role on victor so he double procs with delney lol. plus delney makes erriete double trigger aswell. I havent tried this yet I just play more discard strat with bandits and run teeth and and 2x enduring tenacity at top end which works really well with sheltered by ghost. can voltron up a creature with ethereal armors, ghost, feather, and scavengers. have had like a 20/20 life link with enduring tenacity before lol. peace love to see a victor build def my favorite card in dskmrn and peeps ofc!

I think the only way to make Victor work is in a domain room deck with Marina Vendrell and other cards that allow you to keep locking/unlocking rooms. Seems like a lot of work tho and prob wouldn't be competitive at all

Should swap rottenmouth for archon of the wild rose. Cheaper to hardcast without saccing enchants and surprise flying on your dorks ends games on stalled boards. Rottenmouth is very easy to play around imo

I'm a big fan of archon but if rottenmouth is easy to play round then someone's doing it wrong - like when people used to just slam sheoldred on turn 4 with no thought for timing because everyone spoke ad nauseum about how good it is; all these cards are closers, not usually slam-it-and-hope-for-the-best-ers

If you slam it early you are saccing your board and if you play it late you get a 6/6 that is easy to play around instead of a closer that gives your team evasion and stats. I haven't been impressed with viper and it feels like a win more card

imo standard has been powercrept too much because of red prowess specifically. them killing you on turn 3 with ease means cheap efficient removal has to be EVERYWHERE, which means removal *also* has to be too good, meaning non-prowess creatures have to either have protection or be good enough to the point that being removed is worth the risk, but then you also get insane stuff like the very cheap protection in white and green. I generally feel like standard has spiraled because of red prowess, and that getting rid of the turn 3 kills and the hyper efficient removal/protection would be better for the format. EDIT: to be specific, I feel like the most unfair deck is for sure Gruul Prowess, hyper aggressive decks should not have access to perfect protection that ALSO pumps it.

I've been running a similar list and it's slowly been carrying me to mythic. However, I'm leaning more heavily into a boggles-y strategy, running ethereal armor and other cheap enchants to kill a bit faster. Feels very good and Orzhov's sideboard feels insanely strong in this meta.

9:14 Risky play for sure, and off the cuff I'm not going to say he played it well. But to be somewhat fair to the opponent, the fact that you already played two hopeless nightmares makes the odds of you having the third significantly lower. So he might have been taking a calculated risk there that just didn't pay off for him. Or maybe he's just a dumbass lol.

WotC pro tour structure favors stability on the pro circuit. It's far, far easier to stay a pro than become one, and it's been this way intentionally since the beginning. It's interesting the mistakes you see in Pro Tour play from players who have picked a deck very recently after hurried testing. Heck Javier was punting game after game yet still made top 8. Also, small sample size, if you took the tournament structure and played all players of equal strength, you'd still get results that look like some players were far better than others just by expected random normal distribution of results. It's fun, it does often feature great play and games, but it's also largely a mirage.

I just tried timeless and never again. My opponent first round a swamp and some 1/1 vampire My First round a land My opponent second round a land 2 dark ritual and the 2 monsters 1 had Whenever an opponet looses life you gain 1 life and the other was a creature with whenever you gain life your opponent looses 1 life. All I had down was 1 land. He attacks with his 1/1 and I take 1 damage = loosing 1 life he gains 1 life so I loose 1 life and the process just repeated itself until I died in his second round and I had 1 round😂😂😂
