I am from the Netherlands, my wife is from Malaysia and we have a Dutch-Malaysian son! Today, I am spending the day with my son Milow in our home in Kuching. We have a lot of fun together, do some chores and I will tell you a little about what it's like to be a Dutch Dad in Malaysia!

Yes. You are doing it the right thing. My husband only speak Dutch with my 2 kids. My husband in Belgian and made Malaysia home for the past 19 years. In the beginning the kids only reply to him in English. But he is very persistent and our 14 and 10 years old kids speaks Dutch, English, French ( because they go to French school in KL) a little of Bahasa and now they are doing mandarin. Keep going. The best thing you can give him is being multilingual. By the way, my husband does camping with the kids in the jungle and I’m sure you will do that with Mylo. Tot ziens.

Hey! Thanks for sharing that. I do believe it's very beneficiary for a kid to grow up multilingual! Tomorrow we're taking Milow out to the jungle for the first time! Exciting! I'll surely bring him camping too, in a couple of months!

@@secrets.295 because most local citizen itself especially non malay don't even want to speak national language. Maybe they think if you do not speak local their child can still having a good live in Malaysia but it is important to say that if they enggage with politic, they have to speak national language. Be a good citizen like singaporean, they proud when they sing their national song.

You are so smart to speak Dutch to your adorable son. Good father. When he gets older, he will be able to master, English, Dayak, Bahasa Malaysia besides Dutch. Hopefully, you send him to Chinese School and learn Mandarin as well as China is becoming very powerful. Everywhere in the whole world are trading with China. Most of the products in the USA are made in China. China has improved tremendously within these 2 decades. So there are a lot of advantages to pick up some basic Mandarin.

Well done parenting little Milow and making sure he knows his roots from both sides of the family. That’s very important. Milow seems to be enjoying the Dutch cartoons and also the nursery rhyme, Een Twee Drie Vier Hoedje Van Papier 😅. Well done. Can’t wait when he’s older and starting to speak the different languages and dialects 😊

Wow...Superbaby Milow..nice to watch u enjoy..1 more year troublesome for both of u especially at night...A family man or single life which is better..Every married people have to go through this difficult period as both of u have to share to do house-keeping.Sometimes need parent or neighour baby-sitter if going to any important functions...cannot take along Milow along. .from Perak..11/2/22 ..see u next week in video....Nick...

Thanks for watching my videos every week. I really appreciate you! The nights are pretty good, we have a nice routine so we all get enough sleep. Some days he's easy, other days a bit fuzzy, but that's all part of it! I love being a dad, and we'll make sure to keep Milow safe! 😁

Yes. Speak only Dutch to Milow. I am a Malaysian Chinese married to a German and living in Den Haag. My husband speaks 'German to the kids and I speak Mandarin to the kids. They went to Dutch Schools. They speak English, German, Chinese, Dutch and French. My advise is be consistent and speak only Dutch to him.

Will you teach him to speak Malay and Mandarin too? 😂 Cyrus Janssen, due to the multiple cultures around him, plan to teach his children English, German, Mandarin, Cantonese etc. 😂 I don't know if that's possible 😘

Hopefully the covid cases in Sarawak doesn't get worse like last year because we want Milo experience his first Hari Gawai at the kampung. Then all the borders will open soon, so Milo can go to the Netherlands.

@@ckh2505 cool! There are so many places. If you eat pork, try the kolo mee at Kim Joo on Carpenter Street. Eat laksa at choong choon, have a delicious seafood dinner at Top Spot. Basically walk around and stop here and there for food!

Just like my sister who married Chinese. She not allowed the father speak spolied Malay language. So her husband speak only Mandarin to kids and she speak Malay to them. It's work! The kids speaks Mandarin to their grandparents. Thank you sharing Milo to us.
