@@mx.netherlands6588, the Dutch were actually (one of) the first to colonize parts of the modern day USA. Specifically, the part that is now known as New York. The Dutch called it "Nieuw Amsterdam". According to the (Dutch) history books, we traded it with the UK for Suriname, but what actually happened is that the UK conquered Nieuw Amsterdam from us and renamed it New York and we conquered Suriname from them. Then the UK tried to trade it back, but the Netherlands were like: "No thanks."

The Dutch (I am Dutch) fought 80 years with a 12.3 years pause against Spain, also known as the 80 year war. WIllem van Oranje Nassau died during the war, he got murdered by Balthasar Gerards, a former good friend of his.
