I have never heard Apple Dump Cake. I love to cook with cast iron so I will have to try this.

We have always called it Dump cake.. I thought it was just a Boy Scout thing.. but then I googled it.. it turns out that it is actually called a Dump Cake.. people make them in all kinds of different ways.. but yep.. it's a thing. Try it you will like it.

Oh that looks really good, Jerry. Looks easy with the cake mix and pie filling. Anything cooked in cast iron with hot coals sounds good to me. Like how you added brown sugar on top. Good tips.

The brown sugar is a must (in my opinion).. I know others that do not like it.. just like adding the Sprite.. I like my cake moist.. it is too dry if you don't add a little sprite. Thanks

Look great man. I am ready to help you eat it. I like that dutch oven cooking. Not so much the cooking part, but anything that comes from one and eating it. lol. I like how some of y'all know exactly how many peaces to add to make it cook correct. Great video. Very cool stuff. That brown sugar is a great add. Oh man put some ice cream with that then it would be magic. lol Thanks for sharing buddy.

Lots of practice my friend.. but dutch oven cooking is real hard to mess up and it comes out real good too. And yes.. Ice cream is the topper for this cake! Hope to get to cook for you guys one day! Thanks for watching

Love the cast iron cooking my friend!! My wife makes something similar in the oven with “Mountain Dew” but now she wants to try this in our cast iron!! Easy peasy to do on the camp fire too!! Thanks for sharing ✌🏼

I like putting brown sugar in my apple pie filling and brown sugar and maple instant oatmeal on top of the cake mix and butter pallet, I do the same thing with peaches. Cherry i just do the cake mix and a cherry coke. I shared it in my outdoor camp cooking fb group, hope gets some extra views. Is that the 8qt dutch? I have an 8qt and 6qt both in 12" I have the same fold-up lid lifter/stand too. oh and all hail the beaver!
