I love to memorize quran too, the best way to do is by listening to some beautiful recitation that you like again and again and recite with it and try to understand the meaning In that way it becomes easier.

Assalamualaikum brother. In my country normally they will start memorizing starting the age of 6 - 17 years old. To memorize at old age might be a bit difficult because our brain got too many other influence. I can't even memorize all the tajwid even though I was born Muslim. Respect to you brother.
