Highly commendable and informative narrative - but breathless and unrelenting! Give it a more leisurely pace, provide some silences, some breaks in the narration so one can pay better attention to the pictures and better follow the narrative generally. Still, a lot of work went into this video.

I appreciate your taking the time to reply. I would indeed suggest a slightly slower pace, more of a pause between sentences (they just seem to run together without any kind of break), and some periods of silence, especially when you move from one topic, one ‘chapter’ to another. It would then be easier to absorb and grasp the whole story as it unfolds and enjoy the carefully chosen images as well! All good wishes to you.

Brother, i just started watching videos from your channel yesterday and after finishing this felt compelled to say, well done. This stuff is so interesting to me already, but you tell it in a tremendous way. I will be watching all of your doc videos, liking and subscribing forsure. One figure I'd like to throw into the hat would be Nucky Thompson. The figure played by Buscemi in Boardwalk empire. To be honest i can't say I've ever seen anything on him aside from that show.

Hm, I've listened to a couple of the longer episodes here on your channel and I've noticed there's often a great deal of overlap between one mobster story and the next, but the reason I'm commenting now is because of this specific mobster, Dutch Schultz. In short, I think posterity should always be reminded that Schultz "did not go gently into that good night" when his number came up. Any chance of doing a video just on "The Last Words of Dutch Schultz"?

1:31:30 -- RE: "French Canadian Bean Soup" is clearly nonsense; I'm not so convinced on that as you seem to be! I think its actually more likely to be a kind of linguistic code being used by someone in the criminal class who knows when to replace words. "French Canadian Bean Soup" might be construed as being a reference to food, but the initials of the words "Bean Soup" will always be B.S. And yeah, don't tell me that "Meta" wasn't a part of human speech patterns prior to the advent of the Internet. The underground illegal bars of this time were called "Speak-Easy" for precisely this reason, because it was not a good idea to talk openly about some things at that time in history.

Are you sure Luciano hired Coll to kill Maranzano..? I always thought it was the other way round - Maranzano hired Coll to kill Luciano then invited Luciano to a meeting with Coll waiting as a set up. However, Luciano beat Maranzano to the punch and sent some of his Murder Inc crew to hit Maranzano first. I think Luciano wouldn't pay Coll to do a job his own killers could do, especially as his killers were just as dangerous and effective as Coll...

@keithharrison9797 Well It's really the only thing I've ever seen or even heard of depicting bumpy actually taking it to Dutch it's a total fantasy like when you say "He met his match" that would mean he was the one that actually killed him or even had anything to do with it or maybe he took over his rackets when he died and that's not even the case so I guess I'm confused how "he met his match"

It would be easier to listen to if you did not cut off the whole upper and middle range and only leave the booming bass. It gets tiresome quickly. Also, respect the punctuation. Your voice never stops. That also gets tiresome after a while. Do not cut out pauses in editing. You should have many thousands of likes for the content, but I suspect a lot of your listeners leave, worn out by your endless river of words - as I do now, 15 minutes in.

Benji-777, tks 4 ur reply. As a native NYer I hv 2 respectfully disagree with U. NYers learned abt immigrants starting in the last yr of elementary school, and through Jr. and HS. NY was the main point of entry 4 immigrants who came across the Atlantic Ocean. These people were vy poor. As a result, they crowded into the slums of the "Lower East Side." That is why the "LES" was the epicenter 4 most of the immigrants who came 2 America. It is true that once the new arrivals became established, they left the slums of the "LES" ASAP. Hope this puts U on the right track. Check out videos on RU-vid abt the immigrants arriving at Ellis Island, and their journey 2 the place they could afford. The LES. Again, tks 4 ur reply. Potentially excellent research, but narration was far too fast with no pauses or gaps in the relentless narration. With no backing music, sound effects or smart editing to pace it, this became unwatchable after a few minutes. Imagine hearing one man talking non stop for 1hour 45 minutes.

I like the fact there is no music or anything, I like to hear the info, it doesn't need anything to dramatise it, although pausing when you speak would be beneficial

@@TheLastSupper_yt IMO these criticisms are somewhat valid. You did an absolutely excellent job and adding BGM is often superfluous, if not distracting, for these sort of videos. I would only agree that there should be some breathing room with your narration and allowing the audience a space to take in and digest the information. It doesn't necessarily have to be a regimented formula of space but enough to be in a vague rhythm. Otherwise, I enjoyed this one quite a lot and I'm gleeful to give you a sub to look forward to watch more!
