I have send a poffertjes pan to a friend of mine in the US. He makes them now so many times for his kids and makes them on independence day for the kids living in his neighborhood. These kids can't wait until independence day comes. 😆

Haha, we handed out a few small plates of liquorice in Slovakia, they remained untouched till the evening which is when we ate them all! They looked at us like we were possessed.

Ha, the rain makes a lot of our foods so much better. Individually the weather is bad, and the food is meh, but together, when the weather is cold/rainy, the food warms the inside, it is very nice to eat 'stamppot' in the cold.
Great ti see you rrying Poffertjes the way it's originally eaten over here, I love it. But I eat it only about 2 times a year, at the biggest traveling funfair in Europe in my city Tilburg, and then another time. Live it!!
They're probably really good, I love Surinam food. It's not Dutch though, so would be weird to try that when trying Dutch food. Granted, same goes for the German sausage.

Hello Shinichi, Laurence, Dennis, and Tim! It's so wonderful to see you all in Amsterdam, enjoying so many delicious treats, even on such a rainy day! Everything looks so yummy. Stroopwafels are so yummy, and I was drooling, imagining how good they must be when they are freshly made. It must have been so nice to have warm treats on a cold, rainy day, like the currywurst and the patat. Thanks to Dennis and Tim for helping you find such great places to eat! What a great video! If I ate meat, I'd gobble down that currywurst, which looked filling and yummy. Most everything looked good. I just love seeing the four of you guys together. The chocolate kisses are similar to something we have in the UK called "Wallnut Whips" - chocolate shells with a whipped eggwhite/sugar centre, only topped with a candied wallnut and without the waffle at the base. Wallnut Whips are my adoptive mother's favpurite and I bought her several different varieties/flavours for Christmas.
Ohh, I need to check on that when I visit London again. In the UK, there is something similar too but I forgot the name. Something with tea and it has a blue-silver or a red-silver.
@@joielai7571 That must be Tunnock's Chocolate Tea Cakes - whipped egg white and sugar in a chocolate shell with a biscuit base. The ones in red coloured foil are milk chocolate and the blue foil wrapped ones are dark chocolate - both very yummy,, especially with a hot drink :)
I have a friend in the Netherlands and she sends me drop and I LOVE IT!! But then I'm the kid that always liked black licorice. And yes, the salty drop can be a bit extreme, but I still like it.

Stroopwafels don't have caramell in them, it is stroop, it is more like melasses. It is a product from the sugarbeet. It is not burned sugar, than it would taste differently.
You actually don’t eat a haring that way in Amsterdam. Most locals eat them in parts (cut in pieces). Every other part of the Netherlands eats it like you did.
That's not true either. Various ways of eating them all around the country. You can eat them the traditional way everywhere, but in Twente it's popular to eat it on a breadroll (broodje haring)
Amsterdam was on my bucket list when I made plans years ago but then 9/11 happened and I never did go there. I've had the herring and onions (yum) but would love to try the poffertjes with a steaming cup of coffee. Amsterdam is still on my list of places to visit so thank you for this video.

Yay! I love my grandparent's birth country's food. I forgot to get the poffertjes when I was there 5 years ago for a family reunion on my maternal Grandma's side.
The last one, the potatoes ...those would be for me. Here in Canada we love our poutine, but I have no doubt I would adore trying that. I also adore the little mini pancakes. I have had those before several times at the Dutch pavilion at the fair, and YUMMMM! I’m not big on chocolate, but the kisses do look quite good ☺️
You were probably not entirely wrong about the ammonia-like taste. That's probably because it contains an ingredient called Salmiak, which is made by mixing ammonia with hydrochloric acid. Unlike the source ingredients, the result is actually harmless. Well except from tummy aches if you eat too much of it, as is the case with most candy.
The way i eat haring is cut 1 into small pieces, pluck every miniscule bone from it (you can eat those normally but i dont like the texture). cut some onion and tomato, add 2 spoons of mayonaise (not the belgian sour one but sweet one) Mix it up, and put it on a sandwich. Believe me, it may not sound great but its 1000x better than just a haring with onion.
