For the ill-informed, no, this isn’t my real name. I have a family and don’t want to be messed with. When men face life in prison, they will silence anyone by any means. However, I am a real former SEAL. I was with SEAL Team Two from 2004 to 2011, in the Navy from 2002 to 2013, with three tours to Iraq, South America, Africa, and Afghanistan. There’s always been a rift between the East and West Coast, so take this with a grain of salt. At Team Two, we all thought Jocko Willink wasn’t doing a good job. So much so that we didn’t use any of their tactics, which is a fact. Was it in direct response to Jocko? Not sure, as I was only an E-5 when tactics changed. We operated only at night and made sure not to stand out with patches and such. In response to Michael Monsoor, I presume, we began to dog-ear our grenades with rubber bands and wear them in pouches instead of draping them on the pin and spoon. We also put tape on the pin and double wrapped it. One drunken night, I heard that Monsoor had pulled his own pin by accident because it got caught on something. That part is just hearsay. But the fact is, after Monsoor died, we changed TTPs on grenades. Why? Not sure. Bottom line is, on the East Coast, TRADET was teaching none of the tactics deployed by Jocko. We got up at 4 PM not 4 AM on deployments to conduct nighttime OPs. I know several SEALs, including Mike Day, who didn’t like Jocko. Now, as far as murder being involved, I wasn’t there. But I can say the enemy doesn’t wear uniforms, so identifying enemies is tough. And just because they don’t have guns doesn’t mean they are allies. At that time, cell phones, kids' toys, walkie-talkies, etc., were being used to detonate bombs. This included women, children, and men of all ages. So, on that front, that’s a hard case to prove some 20 years later. Now, as far as Jocko being some great leader, I’ve seen no proof of any great leadership in the military, period, as the war in the Middle East has been lost, and we are on the brink of WW3, and we have more laws in America than before 9/11. Here’s how the award system works in the military: Only screw-ups get high awards. If a group of SEALs does a mission with no shots fired and arrests the guy and gets him convicted in court, you get some low-level award. If you do daytime ops, use explosive breaching, alert everyone, Americans get shot and killed, and you survive, you get the highest awards. That’s a fact. The military awards failure. So did Jocko use terrible tactics? Yes. Is that a crime? I don’t believe so. Did he kill civilians? Hard to say. Is a he great leader? We lost the war and guys got killed on his deployment. No one was using his tactics as of 2013. Now, the martial arts thing. I can’t say if he was making money on the deal but a forensic accountant could figure that out quickly. But the Deter System was not widely loved. We all wanted some MMA-type training but due to contracts with Duane Deter it was difficult.

The same Mike Day that was on Jockos podcast?
@TheDday246
@TheDday246 7 дней назад
Yes. In the interview, he even says daytime operations weren’t a good idea. Mike only did the podcast to help promote his book. He told me personally that Jocko was an idiot and that he believed Chris Kyle was a murderer. But again, East Coast SEALs always poked fun at West Coast SEALs. The fact is, we no longer conduct operations like Jocko did. Jocko was using old tactics from the Vietnam era, so it’s not like Jocko had a lot to go on. Based on my career, it’s completely plausible it was all covered up. I saw all sorts of questionable things happen. My own act of valor was based upon bullshit in Iraq. I’ve seen people with broomsticks get shot by up to 16 rangers. The divide between good and evil in combat is blurry. Anyone who takes a side knows fuck all about the very nature of morality.

Lieutenant Willink demonstrated exceptional leadership, operational vision, and courage under fire in the battle for Ramadi. He conceived and executed a brilliant plan aligning SEALs with American and Iraqi Army units to train and combat advise them, taking the fight to the enemy in their historical safe havens. Lieutenant Willink spearheaded battalion-sized missions, leading his forces in a high intensity and bloody urban warfare, to emplace six combat outposts in Ramadi, in a highly successful clear and hold campaign. His unit conducted more than 200 sniper overwatch, raids, and clearance operations to account for more than 200 enemies eliminated and more than 200 captured. Additionally, he aggressively expanded the human intelligence network in Western Iraq and employed civil affairs to gain cooperation from the local tribes in building the Iraqi Police Force and taking back Ramadi from the insurgents. By his bold leadership, courageous actions, and total dedication to duty, Lieutenant Willink reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions to the United States Naval Service. Funny thing is, Eric Deming has no citations.

I’m an old Marine, but more importantly in this context, I’m the father of an 0311 infantry Marine who served in Ramadi. If there were operators killing innocent civilians in order to gain some military credibility and get some medals or ribbons, you have my attention. Did you create unnecessary conflict that resulted in the deaths of multiple Marinies so you could wear some stupid ribbon?! You have no idea the contempt I have for you if that is the case!

Your second sentence sums it up across the board during GWOT. But again, post 9/11 was still fresh in people's mind esp the troops. You know, the 03s, 11Bs, and the high speed low drag SF operators wanted to spread that fear and hate against the Iraqi or Afghani. Not all, but a few. Can you blame them? Boot camp, SOI, and in the fleet we were instilled and sang cadence about what we do to our enemy( young or old). Y'all need to accept reality that there are thousands and thousands of Kyles and Jocko in uniform. They simply run the state of affairs of the military. Don't believe me? Check your fruit salad for a Iraq campaign ribbon or Afghan ribbon or both. One team, one fight. @@tonyslaughter4285the reason for the surge was the failure of Operation Together Forward in mid 2006. We would go out and conduct civil military operations with the support of maneuver elements during the day and then go back to our FOBs in the evenings and AIF/JAM/SCIRI-BADR would rule the night, brutally, depending which area of the AO. Casey was concerned with limiting casualties at that point and showing off reconstruction dollars we were spending. Most of which were being wasted due to improper planning and implementation. Patreaus changed that, increased targeted assassinations of AIF leaders, put a better system together to administer CERP dollars for reconstruction and CMO, and established the JSS system that put our troops out in sector 24/7.

I didn't have any opinions about this matter beforehand, I liked Jocko. But after listening to both him and Eric, and now these Marines, I can truthfully say I believe there really is some real substane in to the criticism of Jocko. Not only that, there's a lot of proven times when SEAL command covered up botched SEAL operations, so the fact that Jocko said "Why would management allow us to do these things" - well, we all know that Navy like to cover up these things.
@user-sk7jt3pf1c
@user-sk7jt3pf1c 25 дней назад
True. When I got to sandbox, an old infantry grunt said “if u nerf someone with a shot, make sure u shoot a second shot at the ground”. I said why, he smirked, and said, “that’s the warning shot”. Look, most people tried their best to do the right things. Mistakes happened. Young kids, traumatized and scared for their lives, sometimes made mistakes. Not intentional. And guys covered down for their guys like guys should. But sometimes, bad stuff did happen, by evil people, with bad intentions, and others covered for it. If Jocko did, he would have ample opportunity to hide it. And even if he did a wrongful death investigation, which happened when the ROE were broken, he could have easily written it in a non incriminating fashion. A commander in his assigned battlefield is often judge, jury, and executioner. But in a battle for hearts and minds, like Iraq, one bad actor can have massive implications for others he ms not even know. It turns the people against us, strengthens enemy resolve, and results in more lost lives. When seals are running around like untouchables, accountable to none, and using imagery borrowed from evil comic book characters to intimidate the locals, (which is super f’ing gay btw), there is a butterfly effect. It probably didn’t make the local population feel very safe while Jocko was sprinting around in a spike choke collar with assless chaps and a punisher logo painted on his chest and killing random people so he could go back home and brag about how many souls he ejected from their bodies.

Edit: The more I read and the more I research, the more holes appear in this narrative. I can't in good conscience pretend that this is a reliable video anymore. This video purports that Bruiser was operating without oversight and that's just not how that works. This feels completely fabricated. I'll leave my original post up for anyone else who might want to see it. I have some issues with this. These things aren't slams against the people on this show, or the people who put all this together but just a couple thoughts to keep in mind. This is a serious topic, so pardon the length of the reply but I feel it deserves me being thorough. The first is that Ryan, the guy who's letter kicked off a lot of this debate, is basing everything he's saying purely off conjecture. He didn't witness any of the stuff he's talking about personally and doesn't say any of his men saw any of these things take place personally either, save for meeting with a member of the Bruiser unit (which I also have some issues with). In the day and age we're talking about, even in the mid to late 2000's, if Bruiser was just rolling out and murdering people for no reason there is no way that isn't caught by somebody. A camera, a cell phone, satellite imaging even. Other units, etc. I've read a ton of comments regarding this and not once have I ever seen a single comment from someone saying "I saw this personally". It's all conjecture, and if you're going to impugn a respected reputation you just need more than that. "I heard this from x" is just not good enough, if you ask me. Especially if some of the people who they are bringing up are local leadership which to anyone who was there should ring some bells. It was common knowledge that there were good and bad actors in that region from day one. It was definitely not uncommon to have local authorities misleading American forces and making some wild claims. Am I saying all tragedies didn't happen? Absolutely not. Things definitely happen in war. If you're going to say "This group committed war crimes", you need more than that. As an aside the enemy absolutely operated in neighborhoods, caused collateral damage, and then blamed it on Americans. That was VERY common. To say that the insurgents did not have reason to operate in neighborhoods and that it gave them no tactical advantage is just wrong. IEDs were often not tactically placed by insurgents. Some were, a lot were not. Stirring up unrest and blaming Americans for that unrest was part of the insurgency game plan to weaken our alliances with local leadership. It's very surprising to me to hear an XO say otherwise. The other issues I have are with the meeting with the Bruiser that Ryan speaks about. I get that every organization is different and operate differently. I'm not saying it's impossible that misconduct or lack of respect occurred. It can happen. What bothers me is that Ryan is saying it was 'unprofessional' to have an insignia on their equipment, the punisher skull. Insignias and identification markings have been core critical across every branch of service since inception, and the punisher skull is -far and away- not the most insensitive marking there has been in the military. To say that they are unprofessional because of that makes me wonder if this even happened. That sounds made up to me, because in my eyes and from experience that is not a reason to discredit an entire organization. As far as the war crimes not being reported thing, I get that we were very busy during that time in Ramadi. I just don't buy it that there was no way to run that stuff up the ladder. As busy as our forces were in that region, and they were definitely busy, the military makes time to investigate war crimes and take action. I have a hard time believing that it wasn't something that they would have acted on. It just does not pass for me. The last issue I have doesn't concern this broadcast itself but more the comments being deleted on Jocko's video and the like. I've seen a lot of those comments as I've tried my best to stay apprised of this topic. While some might have caught strays and were deleted unnecessarily (I won't pretend there aren't some of those), there were a ton of comments that weren't just being critical. They were threats, attacks, slurs, just plain rage. You can be outraged at allegations, but if you go on a massive rant where you are personally insulting someone... Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if that gets deleted. Freedom of speech is not freedom of consequence. It's just like if I talk trash in a bar, I can't be mad if I get leveled for it. There's a right and wrong way to discuss this kind of thing. I'm not saying in any concrete way that these events didn't happen, but the facts presented just don't get me over that ledge. If new things come out, I'll gladly eat my own shoe and take the hit. For now though, it doesn't really pass my litmus test. Just my thoughts. Stay safe out there everyone.

This XO sounds like the biggest dipshit. He thinks we didn't do COIN all the way. His conclusion is that if we had COINed harder, we would have been victorious. The fact is that we should never have been in Iraq in the first place. We had no justification to be there. The Israelis fabricated evidence that led us to war. Thus, we had no feasible objectives, besides "nation building" which meant contracts for Haliburton. War is about killing the enemy, but our corrupt politicians, want to make our military in to some humanitarian police force instead. That is what got those marines killed, for no good reason.

The weakest part of Jocko’s defense podcast was that 90% of it was based on the official record. The whole point behind the whistleblower push is that the official record is wrong. The same thing happened in WWII, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and so on. After reviewing both sides, I will say that the most truthful side has been the whistleblowers. Now, we can all recognize that Iraq in 05/06 was known as the “Wild West,” because ROEs were lax. But that makes the accusations against Jocko even more convincing because they would have to be flagrant violations. More so, there’s a whole-ass book AND movie that overblows who Chris Kyle was and what he did. Final point - Jocko is incredibly successful. Dude makes hundreds of thousands PER SEMINAR. Plus consulting, plus books, plus supplements, plus his MMA gym… what I’m saying is, the dude has lawyers, the fact that this went on for over a month without a cease and desist or lawsuit is pretty telling.

@@GhostHuntingGrunt I appreciate your comment. Jocko is not a random dude. I've been listening to him since he first appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast. I've read read his books and heard his speeches. He has written books that have helped tens of thousands of men and women and even children to progress in their lives. He has started companies that produce products 100% made in the USA. He is a highly decorated SEAL Officer. He has, in his writings, detailed mistakes that he made, that led to his men getting injured. He consistently gives credit for his success to the men and women who work for him, weather in his time in the Navy, or in his companies, and downplays his own abilities. This is a man that deserves the benefit of the doubt. 100% support until real evidence comes out.

They let us check out their gear, but never did they allow us to “borrow” it, even while relieving them on a post. They had .50BMG and .338 Lapua rifles that we would’ve killed to shoot. Never happened. As just a regular infantry Marine, I’ve never heard of a unit, especially a non-Marine unit, lending out weapons like this.

One dude got relieved of command for sneaking it on the Quadcon without requesting authorization and adding it to his CMR, the other dude got NJP’d and a LOR. One thing is picking up an AK off a combatant during an engagement for utilization if shit hit the fan, it’s a complete other thing of temp loaning weapons between units of different services and chain of command. I guess congrats to the channel for actually getting Jocko to respond. I would have never expected him to give any of this attention. I suppose based on the accusations being as serious as they are he was compelled to do so. My recap of this video: The Marine XO who wrote the letter clearly wanted everyone to think TU Bruiser killed 36 of "his" Marines. Jocko responded in a podcast addendum, and now here the XO walked his comments back to acknowledge that 17 Marines died in Ramadi (not 36) and around the time TU Bruiser was in theater-- which also happened to be when the most intense fighting was occurring... but he didn't elaborate that the Marine deaths were the direct result of anything TU Bruiser did like he framed in his letter. He contradicts himself in this video compared to what he wrote in that letter and how this channel presented the XO's letter in the original video about all of this. It's clearly misinformation or disinformation and if I owned this channel I would want that error on my part corrected for the record. Obviously we aren't going to see that happen because it won't fit their narrative. The XO goes on to say that HE DID NOT witness any innocent killings perpetrated by TU Bruiser, but people he knows told him about it. When asked what he did with those reports he responds saying he was too busy at the time to do anything about it. He expresses disgust with the Punisher patches the SEAL TU was wearing... and in my opinion, is the one thing in this video I would say is actually verifiable and they are justified in calling out. As a Marine and Iraq Veteran myself, I do get this perception of a lack of professionalism and still remain surprised TU Bruiser was allowed to "decorate" their uniforms in this manner. I wouldn't make as much of a stink about it as these guys are doing, but I do actually agree it's weird for an elite military unit to do that. Similar to the XO, the former enlisted Marine from 3/8 they have on here basically peddles an identical story. People in his company told him TU Bruiser killed innocent people... but he clearly says he saw nothing himself and did nothing himself about the reports he received. He goes on to talk about how intense the fighting was in and around the government center that led to the civilian population moving entirely out the area... but then also contradicts himself by saying the TU Bruiser guys who showed up to the government center shot noncombatants... that weren't in the area? But he didn't see it... people just told him they saw it. So were there civilians in the area to be shot or not? It just doesn't compute. He also says that if a Lance Corporal or PFC in a Marine unit were to shoot a civilian they'd be fried... but seems to think for some reason the SEALs had zero accountability and could shoot whomever they pleased however they pleased with no ROE. He also seemed to take exception that the SEALs operating in the area weren't briefing him on their missions and movements in the AO. He said he was a Corporal at the time. I doubt a SEAL Commander in Ramadi would be compelled to make sure a Corporal machine gunner in 3/8 was tipped off as to when they'd be appearing at the government center, their objectives while there, and when to expect them again. He also said something about how TU Bruiser would go up on the roof and shoot random people so they could get combat action ribbons. Again, after saying there was no civilian presence in the area and that he never saw them shooting random people even though he literally lived at the building throughout the deployment. So we've got SEALs clipping randoms from the rooftop of the building you live in but you never saw it? You never did anything about it? Just people you know told you about it? Well holy shit it sounds Biblical then, doesn't it? Listen, I don't think Jocko can part the Red Sea... I don't think SEALs or any military community is perfect. But I hope the people watching these videos can understand the frame here this very tiny and small group of people no one has ever heard of before is pushing versus the more likely reality that TU Bruiser wasn't a murderous bunch of unchecked cowboys. My read is that these folks don't like the punisher patches (agreed), don't like the fact that a SEAL has gone so public with their experiences and persona (understood), but to call them fraudulent murderers is quite the fucking stretch. Just my $0.02.

I respect these Marines' perspectives/experience and enjoyed listening to them. However, as far as the specific accusations of war crimes and cover up, at the end of the day it's still hearsay and assumptions (albeit, seemingly pretty reasonable assumptions from their perspective), rather than direct evidence. I have to hand it to Jocko... he knows how to talk. His rebuttal videos sounded pretty eloquent and convincing to a general audience. Unless much more specific testimony of Bruiser SEAL crimes/incompetence and Jocko directly sweeping it under the rug emerges, I don't see any of this affecting Jocko too much at this point. For those of you commenting that Jocko should come onto this channel or have guys like Deming etc on his channel to hash this out, come on!! There's no way in hell he's gonna do that. He is not going to use his platform to give these accusations or the people making them anymore attention than absolutely necessary. Outside of veterans and a niche of people who are interested enough in military and GWOT to follow this shit closely, nobody in the general public is really paying attention to this. And for Jocko's fans, his response was probably more than convincing enough to satisfy them to not look further into it. I'll give Jocko the benefit of the doubt and say that I'm not convinced that he was necessarily intentionally nefarious or a horrible guy. In light of all this, I definitely don't think he was anything close to the great battlefield commander that he makes himself out to be. It seems that he did demonstrate a level of incompetence by not deconflicting battlespace and failing due diligence to manage potentially trigger happy psychos like Chris Kyle. But at the end of the day, it seems to me that Jocko just kinda did what careerist officers tend to do: shine shit and write it up as gold. Make sure X number of ops are planned and executed, let your guys shoot enough to justify and validate what you're doing, write it up nice... and "mission accomplished." Then he got out and marketed himself well. And thanks to the Navy PR machine, the SEAL brand made it all the easier for him. Chris Kyle always seemed like a bad dude to me. At face value, the idea that he was getting that many legit kills compared to other snipers working the same battlefield never made any sense. Some snipers are better than others, sure. But this wasn't Carlos fucking Hathcock mastering the art of stalking and remaining unseen in the jungles. Kyle was manning the same urban sniper posts as all the other Marine/Army/SEAL snipers operating out there at the time. How the hell was he seeing all these legit targets that the others apparently couldn't? Bullshit.
@dv4119
@dv4119 17 дней назад
That point about Chris Kyle is really interesting and something I never thought about. If you’re right of course, cuz idk shit about these sorts of particularities of the battle space and can’t confirm a RU-vid comment. But Chris Kyle was one character I always found shady, esp after reading how he bragged to people about driving to New Orleans after Katrina and sniping dozens of looters on the Superdome. 🙄 And this story “Kyle also claimed to have killed two men at a Dallas-area gas station in January, 2009. He told one writer that the men attempted to rob him at gunpoint, but he drew his own weapon and shot them both in the chest. According to Kyle, the entire incident was on tape, and the police let him go after he gave them a number to call. He also asserted that he often received emails from police officers across the country thanking him for "cleaning up the streets." More than a tad psychologically unbalanced to 1) make up such weird lies, 2) think the lie makes you look good. Either it’s some expression of PTSD that tilted his aggression and valuation of human life, or the dude just has serious power fantasies of murdering “wrongdoers”, and he quenched his desire thru the military. If sniping American citizens for looting is admirable in his eyes, I don’t doubt he could justify killing people overseas in a warzone for just about anything. But part of me is like, well this is a decorated war hero I’m talking about, and there’s no concrete evidence of any wrongdoing, so I usually just keep my opinion to myself. The best case scenario is that you’re wrong, and his targets were justified (or as much as they could have been for any other in the position) and he just was a dude who got found himself at the right place at the right time to make the most of his talent, and happened to like talking shit. Worst case is a lot of innocent people were killed by a glory-seeking SEAL and a movie was made in celebration

If Eric Demming is lying, then Jocko would of sued Mattew Cole for writing Code Over Counrty. Eric Demings recommends it. It came out over 2 years ago. Jocko is on pgs 153-160. 2 members of Seal Team Six were on an observation mission to see if Team Six could help Task Unit Bruiser. After witnessing warcrimes after contact, Chris Kyle in particular. They declined to help Jocko. They saw no need for it. Nor did they make a former complaint. It does provide a reason for the endless paperwork that Jocko complains about. They were trying to slow him down.

Finally! The good fight. I’m former USAF 822nd and 824th SFS joined active duty March 2000 my second deployment was 6 Oct 2001 and was part of Task Force Dagger. Listen. The damage goes further than just the obvious. I have younger siblings and peers from high school who think only veterans with high body counts are the only real vets. In my Squadron, we took the term “quiet professionalism” very serious. Having the discipline to do your job and protect personnel and resources was the stand up troop. Intelligence and integrity is what we viewed as honorable not a comic book vigilante. My point is this shit also affects the culture we come home to after the culture we became accustomed to and that is difficult. I’d like to collaborate. I’m currently a volunteer peer support advocate and the good guys have to stick together. I feel this kind of shit hurts us, our country and national security. The romance between actors and mass ignorance also affects veteran suicide. I have witnessed that firsthand aswell. Thank you gentlemen for everything. I can relate in my own way as an active duty member immediately after the attacks. Thank you. Contact me. Too much to type. 2024 is year of truth.

A month later a man rolled through our TCP off Apple road once right before curfew in December. His wife was in the back seat in labor with his son (probably 14 years old) in the front. We taped IR Chems on each corner of the car and radioed battalion to alert all OPs and checkpoints in the area and once we got the all clear we sent them on their way. They made it a mile and a half from the hospital before marines lit up the car like they were mad at it. No one survived. Both sides have dumb guys but man do the marines have more. Jocko just did a two part rebuttal where he sites (but doesn't show) all the documentation & internal reviews that are done & the process a spec ops team has to do to operate in someone elses' battle space or whenever a SEAL team member has to shoot someone & the investigations to make sure it was a good kill. But all that is fine & dandy but it means nothing because all these documents & internal investigations also gave us the Navy SEALS' stamp of approval on ALL the lies being told about Rodger's Ridge with the stolen valor & botched planning that were covered up & Marcus Luttrell's complete fabrication of what happened at Op Redwings & that cover up. Honestly, I would be more willing to believe these Marines that are risking their reputations, with nothing to gain, to tell the truth instead of a bunch of narcissistic glory hounds that the SEAL community has allowed themselves to become.

But our company 1st Sgt went APE SHIT because of it looking "unprofessional". We were operating out of Hurricane Point and doing mounted security patrols/ QRF/ and government center security, on a rotating basis. I did not stay the whole deployment as 1/5 was undermanned and I was short timing. I was there til about mid June. I will attest that Ramadi was a very busy place and especially at the gov center. We were always taking shit there. I stood post at the police station at first, but then moved over to the roof top overlooking the entry control point. At that post, I was in it a couple times a week. At least! One night, we spotted some armed hadjis moving through buildings to our north. We called it in and were about to light them up. Same story…. Our leadership ran it up the chain looking for adjacent units or SOF units…. They came back with the go ahead to shoot if we’ve positively identified them. Which we were certain that we had. They were wearing local attire and moving with ak’s Whatever seal team that was present in that time, skylined themselves and decided it was not a good idea to let anyone know they were going to be in our area moving around in local attire with local weapons. They were a split second away from being killed by us, for it. At the last second, my platoon sergeant stopped us, AFTER giving us the go ahead to shoot. That was my only interaction with the Seals. From afar. Don’t be stupid, talk to the units in the area and let them know you’re there so they can back you rather than shoot at you.

Just want to say, if any of those three men are reading this. Ya'll are doing the right thing, and I hope you are able to continue your existence without the weight of knowing what you know. I have always been anti-war to a certain extent and it it has hardened much much more compared to when i was younger, but I have never hated or held contempt over the service men/women of the military. Over the years though, after taking all in the information and I'm always learning more. I have grew bitter and formed a hatred and distrust for the Military as an institution. However, when American Sniper came out and Lone Survivor came out, and when I got older and more suspicious of stories (happens with age to everyone). After all the reports of immaturity of the seals and the my research of Chris Kyle as a human being (because at the time, I never doubted his story. I only despised him as a person, but respected his service) when I came back to those events and read into them with an open mind. My entire perspective of the Seals went from thinking that there is some bad actors, but its not a culture problem. To, most of the Seals are people I should not trust at all and I off the bat don't like them and assume the worst. To hear from all 3 of you, that this isn't your experience with other Seals but also pointing out the bad actors, I feel that I can look at Seal Units with more sympathy and respect. That there is a way to solve the issue, and that it's finally being acknowledged. I don't like the idea of real personal and intimate stories of war being sold as a way for people to experience heroism, and live through those who have actually put their life at risk (but its also impossible to prevent, and might serve a greater purpose despite it). However to have people live through those who are nothing more then living ghosts of a person they know they aren't, while most of those who have died in combat never lied about who they were, showed their vulnerability in death, but despite that faced death head on and looked it in the eye. Those people are dead, and their stories haven't been told, and most likely never will. While those who have built a lie to serve their own fabricated legacy are writing books and spewing words that might as well be considered empty and meaningless are living lives of luxury and success. Its despicable, and all 3 of you despite the faults that come with being human. Are the few that carry true integrity that actually weighs something.

Read Matthew Cole's book "Code before Country" about the corruption and coverups within DevGru and the SEAL Teams. So bad that they tried to prevent the Medal of Honor to a fellow warrior Combat Air Controller named John Chapman who sacrificed it all on Robert's Ridge.

I’ve been tired of the “ Navy Seal “ story for years now. I’m so glad to see a lot more Delta guys coming out with their stories now! I’ve never heard of a perfect human/ organization before, and these guys seemed too perfect IMO. My marine leadership stoped me from attempting SF because of the behavior they saw in Iraq. You could sense that they had a bad taste for sf.

Love this. Jocko removed my comment from his video too. Btw: there’s another Marine offering up his critique of the XO in a separate video. I think both of these guys are sincere and honest. Read “Code Over Country” The email from Jocko to Chris Kyle said everything I needed to know about Jocko. Jocko sat quietly by while Kyle smeared Jessie Ventura, all while knowing that Kyle was a sociopathic liar. That’s how much respect Jocko has for his senior frogmen and tradition. Are we to believe that Jocko wasn’t there when Monsoor’s CMH was awarded? He knew that Ventura never said anything like what Kyle alleged and he knew Kyle never hit Ventura, but he sat quietly and let the country crap on Ventura. Screw Jocko.

Can you link the video? As an enlisted Marine Infantryman during the same time that this XO was in, I find him to be suspect. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that made a good platoon commander. My good platoon commanders didn’t run and hide post-career. They are easy to find; however, I’m not sure where the shitbag platoon commanders are.

@dbohler8640
@dbohler8640 27 дней назад
@@manhalen7046 I guess you think that “because it’s Jessie Ventura, it’s OK to slander a senior veteran frogman, even if that slander destroyed his livelihood”. Ventura was there in HONOR of SEAL tradition, dismissing class 258 from Hell week, as he had done when asked to dismiss 158, years before. He didn’t bad mouth his brother SEALs as Kyle alleged and Kyle never hit him. Maybe you think that’s OK and you’re screwed up too if you think it’s OK but it’s not OK in this veteran’s mind. Jocko should be ashamed for not speaking out on Ventura’s behalf. The email between Jocko and Kyle proves that Jocko knew Kyle’s book is full of ish. Ventura became successful, wealthy and famous without scraping gold from the trident. He always honored the silent professional’s code. Kyle and Jocko crapped on it.

I was with 1/8 when we went to Ramadi in 2007, and we would have SEALs pass through our lines in the battlespace, and they would always let us know either by radio or Blue Force Tracker that they were passing through. On more than one occasion it was in civilian SUVs and wearing local dress, all of which they described. Stark contrast to TF Bruiser. 3/8 had an incredibly hard deployment in Ramadi. I spent significant time during our workup watching all the combat footage I could of 3/8 to get an idea of what lay ahead of us. Our Battalion Gunner had been with 3/8 and he was a wealth of knowledge. The Anbar Awakening occurred just as we got in country and it went from kinetic operations to security operations. I am glad I got to play a small part in ensuring the sacrifices of the prior Army and Marine units in Ramadi weren't wasted on my watch. Obama fucked all that up losing the city to the Islamic State, but that's another story.

Greetings fellow Warrior. As a Marine Raider I can say the SEAL Platoons I deployed with were 99% all professional fighters. A few were Unsat. As for the Army SF , 100% of the Green Berets I've worked with and known they are all quiet professionals and men of honor, integrity and high moral character. Maybe I was just lucky. I smelled Bullshit on Kyle from the beginning when I first heard about him. After he got caught lying about other things, it just solidified my belief in that assessment. I heard he was reporting his own kills with no confirmation from anyone else needed. I've brought this fact up to VERY few people because of the blind hero worship so many people are engaged in when it comes to him. I also wonder if his nickname "legend" wasn't actually a reverse pun. Kind of how a 300lb guy gets the nickname "tiny". I think a LOT of his fellow SEALS felt he was utterly full of shit, and a psycho, and laid that handle on him as a backhanded way of saying it.

Right on. And also « Lone Survivor » (the movie)… an absolutely non sensical story. From my own limited military experience, a tour of sevice as an NCO in the French army during the time of the Bosnian war and terrorism at home, I could sense that Luttrell’s account was absurd. And if that mission did truly unfold the way he described it, then there was something terribly wrong with the leadership and capabilities of that particular unit. In August 2008, a French patrol was ambushed an destroyed in Afghanistan by 100 Talibans. The French took 31 casualties, including 10 KIA, one of whom was killed by an edged weapon during hand to hand fighting. There was no attempt to turn this into a heroic action or to create a false narrative… it was a huge f**k-up by the French army and that’s all there was to be said. Seven families took legal action against the military leadership but to no avail, so there was a cover up of sorts. But nobody wrote a book or made a movie trying to spin the facts… that would have been disgusting and dangerous!

Poor Marines in there building a report with the locals and then the cowboys arrive. I mean, it's not hard to imagine. The SEALs are an elite, fired up, specialized fighting force with a totally different mission set than the Marines. They had no blood equity in the game like the Marines did in that particular arena. They were hammers, and everything was a nail to them.
