I love making videos of duty free whisky. I have done 60 videos in the last 3,5 years. Loads of views from people that are interested in picking up a bargain. Let me know if you found a cheap whisky at the duty free, what was it and how much did you pay for it. Please remember to like share and subscribe ❤. Need 7 more subscribers. Duty Free can be a good bet but only for experienced whisky monsters like me. I walk past 95 % of it because I'm thinking of a cheap and quality slurp on my holiday. A litre of Ardbeg 10 for less than £50. I'm good with that. One litre Glen Garioch 12 the same. Most of the rest, especially when it's Travel Retail excusive, is absolute pants. Duty Free retail is a market for 'normal whisky buyers' and people like us only occasionally.

@@welshtoro3256 agree. Ardbeg 10 cost me €45 so ok. But from my examples you can see big price difference. Not all duty free shops are crazy. Saw some good prices. Istanbul, Qatar, Emirates Brussels, can be expensive. But if you know your prices and stick to what you want then it’s ok. Thanks for watching. Remember to like and subscribe. Almost at 2000.

I've only been to duty-free shops in the US, the UK, and France, and the prices I've seen were about the same as retail, but in some cases, much lower. Not to mention the access to the travel exclusives, which sometimes are interesting. I recently bought a bottle of Ardbeg Smoketrails Bourbon & Côte Rôtie at Orly in Paris for 74 euro for a 1-liter bottle, and it's delicious. I wish I'd bought more. And they had Glenmorangie Signet for under 200 euros (it's a bit over US$300 in my local market). I think the key is to have good knowledge of the market and prices at regular retail before passing by those tempting duty-free shops.

@@KakoGuzmanMusic absolutely. Like I said in the video. Make sure that you know the price before you buy. Thanks for watching.

Ardbeg Smoketrails Bourbon & Côte Rôtie was70 GBP at LHR last December. Will have to check out CDG next month. Hope their prices are close to Orly.

I use to love duty free years ago (about 10 years ago) when it use to be legit. Now it is just a money grab.

I"ve noticed that some whisky shops in the UK will sell you whisky duty-free if you show them your passport/airline ticket. That's a much better way to get a good deal and find the bottle you actually want.

@@jaklumpp That is very interesting. I saw something similar in Aqaba Jordan. There is a Duty free shop in the city. Thanks for the feedback. And welcome to my channel. Please remember to like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video.

Another point is a lot of well known single malts have started to make lines just for duty free. For example they may use a lot of marketing, but not make it clear what the age is, or if it is a blend of different aged whisky etc etc. a lot of marketing and a lot of obfuscation.
@WhiskyLoversSociety
@WhiskyLoversSociety День назад
@@davidcox8433 absolutely. But it makes sense for me as you are not going to get it at the local shop. Well most of the time. I see a lot of these bottles are now also in the local shop. For me you need to know what you want and make sure you know what it cost.

You just need to know your whiskies and prices. I have a problem finding any bigger selection over 40% ABV in the airports I am travelling. The biggest duty-free scam is not in whisky/whiskey but in local products (Greek products in Greek airports, Italian products in Italian airports, etc.) which can easily be 2-3 times more expensive then in local shops.
@WhiskyLoversSociety
@WhiskyLoversSociety 2 дня назад
@@ivanmihailovic421 welcome too my channel. Appreciate your first comment. I can understand the higher prices as explained in the video. Costs are very high due to rent. But I agree. Know the price and only buy for a good deal. Please remember to like and subscribe. Cheers

Only buy whiskey from duty free for travel exclusives.

@@sentimentalcheung very good suggestion. I also see more and more travel exclusives at the local shops. Thanks for your feedback. Hope you have a great day. Cheers

Not all duty free shops have good prices. LHR, Gibraltar (the best) and Delhi are some that I have found to be good. Most of the ones in the US do noy have good prices.

What about buying Johnny Walker Black label, Red Label or Famous Grouse. That is cheaper right? Obviously not connoisseur grade!
@WhiskyLoversSociety
@WhiskyLoversSociety День назад
@@davidcox8433 That is definitely an option if you are looking for that type of whisky. They often have offers like buy one and get 20% off on the second one. Or they bundle it with 2 bottles and glasses. There is a sale to be made. Blends are popular. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers. Please remember to like and subscribe. Welcome to my channel
