Great to see you again Dylan, I am absolutely over the moon with your review, this is probably my number one contestant for a record of the year so far alongside new Iotunn record, I have been listening for this record non-stop since it came out, it's just outstanding 5/5 from me and the same as you Tower and S-XIV my two favorite songs, huge thanks for your review and keep up with a great work!!!!!!!!

I had been listening to DVNE's other two albums and I saw this vinyl for a reasonable price and had to pick it up a couple of weekends ago. I can't agree more with your review. It's sooooo good! I didn't know about the story behind it so now it'll be even better when I listen to it again and again. Thank you for the background info! Also the gold vinyl is ridiculously beautiful and one of my favorites in my collection. A wonderful surprise when I opened it.

I was really into the first singles off this album. When the full thing came out I was actually pretty underwhelmed and would not have given more than a 3/5 max. Admittedly, I've only fully listened to it once and this review (good to see you back Dylan btw, awesome review) motivated me to give it another shot

I actually was the same but I’d really enjoyed their other stuff so came back to it in a different mood a few weeks later. Now I think it’s fricken awesome. One of my AsOTY so far, no question. Definitely give it another few spins and you’ll hopefully come around.

Amazing bro. Balls out for that rate! I m at 4.5 on both their albums but personaly like Asheran just a little more. I love this album but feel they carried an early Mastodonian torche and a little more technical guitarwise on Asheran. In here they aimed for big production a la Cult of Luna (which I think its involded somewhere). Anyway, fantastic band. Great review!

Proggy stuff I’ve enjoyed this year: this album of course, then the Iotunn album is brilliant too. The latest Stortregn is fuckin great and in loving the new Paranorm too. All these albums are going on my end of year list that’s for sure.

I like Asheran a little more than Etemen Ænka, but I agree that the score is definitely 5/5 for this album. Asheran, if it were up to me, I would rate maybe a 5.5/5, but that’s just because I was younger and that bass and mid-heavy low Ab hit hard on the opening track (I was in middle school then and didn’t listen to anything heavier than that, so it blew my mind then, and remains a nostalgic album for me). That being said though, Dvne’s story is insanely good, complex, yet somehow still able to be grasped really well, now spanning across two albums (and hopefully a third album, because they dropped a teaser today as of Mar 11, 2024). Dvne is easily a top 5 band for me, maybe top 3. I would absolutely love to see them live

Prog is one of the very few genres of metal that normally does nothing for me but DAMN if this isn't an absolutely killer album! Even as a totally non-prog guy this album is easily a 4/5 skulls.

Yes, an easy 5 skulls for me. Its my album of the year so far. I just keep coming back to it, like ill enjoy other new albums and think well maybe they they can pass DVNE for me and all go back and listen and, nope Etmen Aenka is still the best.

I liked this album lots but I was a bit let down after Asheran. I’m probably being too nitpicky but I feel the huge dynamic shifts in the compositions aren’t as punchy this time around. Asheran wore its influences more overtly than even this one did but it was a more exciting journey for me and like Dylan said here, I don’t care.

I'll admit I have avoided Dvne in the past purely because "V as U" generally has some edgelord wanker behind it. Thanks for opening my eyes with this review here. Shoutouts: This guy isn't metal but since Dylan attracts a bunch of prog nerds I'm gonna name drop him here: Ryo Kawasaki. A super smooth jazzy prog rock guitarist that made a bunch of really great albums in the 70s.
