On May 25, 2024, my incredible 99 year old Grandma passed peacefully and joined my mom on the other side. She had requested that I perform Dvorak's "Going Home" for her funeral service. Shortly after, I lost my final grandparent, my Grandpa on my paternal side, on June 20, 2024. He was a big fan of my cello videos, so in his final hours he also got to hear this performance, and was brought to tears despite being virtually unresponsive. This performance is fully dedicated to my grandparents across both sides of my family.
This version of Going Home is adapted from Yo-Yo Ma's solo cello arrangement. After experimenting, I landed on a unique set-up for this performance that gave me the sound quality I liked the best. I am using a modern cello with steel strings, tuned down to A=415, and using a baroque bow.
This is my first single release in years and my first release since my Baroque Cello Christmas album in November 2023. You can download/stream the track wherever you listen to music by searching "Emily Davidson Going Home."
