What this company has done in 50 years is astounding… to be 50 years young and achieve a place at the top of the drum world in almost half that time is truly mind blowing. In the 90’s at 13 I started with a late 60’s 3 piece Ludwig Classic, a few years later my parents got me a Yamaha Power V Special for Xmas, after a handful of years I sold that and saved up for a Gretsch Renown Maple… beautiful kit.. sold the Ludwig and I now have the Gretsch as my workhorse, a PDP New Yorker for my home practice kit (which is actually amazing for what it is, I love it and it only cost me $150!) and my showstopper is a freakin DW Collector's series in Black Pearl Lacquer w/ Black Nickel hardware, decked out with 9000’s… it’s unreal. As an amateur drummer, I think I’m doing alright… still working towards that sponsorship! 😂

I just purchased a PDP concept maple kit with all DW 9000 hardware and pedals. I was a budget, so I opted for the PDP kit, for now. But, went all out on the hardware. OUTSTANDING quality by far on everything. Thanks again DW for such awesome equipment.

As final customers sometimes we don't understand the high prices on hardware and all the effort that has been put on developing every single part. I am a happy DW Collectors owner and couldn't be happier with the final product!

Since 2 years, my entire hardware setup is DW. ^^ I have the 9000 series kickdrum pedal for 2 years now. I adjusted it to my personal preference, no problems at all, as smooth as day 1. I have both my snaredrum and my racktom mounted in a 9000 snare stand. I just open up the baskets and the tripods, the memorylocks take care of all the rest. And I have 6000 series hardware, hihat and cymbalstands. I really couldn't be happier with 'just' cymbalstands than the 6000 series. I think they have that certain something, that does it for me. They are lightweight (I take my entire setup - 4 stands and a hihat - in two hands! Just one walk from flightcase to stage!) And because they are lightweight, they seem to make the cymbals resonate better too. The hihat is just a dream to play! You really have to try it, to actually believe it. But it is amazing. Couldn't be happier! Really. Best buy I ever did.

My most favorite manufacturer videos is when you get the inventor, the designer, the manufacturing engineer and the company President all involved in the interview. With DW you get all of them in one amazing person, Don Lombardi. I wish I could learn what Don Lombardi has forgotten.

Hugely insightful and interesting. The only DW gear I have currently is a 9000 kick pedal. It was recommended to me by a friend who said 'once you play one of these, you wont play anything else' - He was right! Currently saving for some more DW toys!

I've actually chatted with Mr. Lombardi over in forums about Pedals and cams, etc. I did switch because I was looking for a round cam with a better linear response and while the design and engineering of these new ones are outstanding I do miss the manufacturing quality of my DW5000 double pedals that I got for a discount (80 bucks) at Best Buy when I was getting started, even when they were made in Taiwan. A true work horse, those guys went to Hawaii and back in my checked in luggage and were inspected and taken apart by TSA, they still work. I'll never forget those pedals and still have them. I just wish the cost could go down and that the pedal design itself was a little longer and less like a foot, but I know I'm the exception. Also offer the option of the turbo round cam with the standard 5000's. These things are like Cadillacs and they are made for loud music with their huge heavy beaters.

I've had my 5002AH since 1997. Found another one ten years ago. The single chain is my favorite! I also have three stands, a bunch of dog bones, and cymbal holders. I got my first dw 9700 stand in 1996. I was 20. I had no idea a stand could influence the sound of my cymbals so much!

I love DW hardware because of the spirit of innovation that drives its development. I've had a 9002 double pedal for more than 10 years, now, and despite much abuse and neglect (even rusting in the rain), it still feels better than some fresh-from-the-box brand new pedals from competitors.

So many Arambulas, good on you DW.

Love my 5000 pedal… The only qualm I have is that, to pack into a hard case, I have to disassemble the parts. The competitor, Iron Cobra, allows you to pack without the need to do so.

Personal 2 favorite company is SJC and DW. Own a sjc sounds really good but when I jump on a Dw drum kit dang..

Love how dw innovates. Its expensive stuff. You dont need it all. But they give you so many choices to be reasonable. If you have a collectors series set. You need a rack system just to get the most out of your drums. You dont need a 9000 stand for a 6 inch splash lol. It makes customizing drums alot of fun . I use a rack and stands. And dedicate the rack to the drums mostly just so they can resonate to the best of their ability.

Great stuff, high quality made. I have lots of DW hardware for my different kits and I'd like to have it consistent. And that's the problem … I'm based in Germany and most of the accessories and spare parts has lead time of 3, 4, 5 or more months. This is unfortunately not acceptable for the working drummer …

Hi there.. can you do something about the top hi hat cymbal to prevent keyholing on the top cymbal? you know... to avoid the metal-to-metal contact between top cymbal and hi hat clutch! This would be great!

Sorry to post on such a old video but I just got my 9000 rack. I know it's all about options but what is the generic theory of using the V Angle Clamp? I couldn't tell if it would be more helpful for quick tom movements since it doesn't seem to be necessary for cymbal arms since they have the adjustable angle via the boom arm holder already. I hope all my terms here aren't too confusing.

dw makes amazing hardware straight up. I don't think any other manufacturers compare to their hardware. it's just too bad that for many drummers it can be difficult to obtain them based on the prices. I get it they're the highest quality so the price reflects this but imagine how many drummers could be even better if they could get their hands on some 9000 series pedals!

Is your kick pedal testing machine available for gigs? I like a steady down beat. I see a lot of negative comments on here. You don't how much they are paying their employees and they could easily ship all the work overseas.

I have a concern that i would like to address to the nice folks at DW's manufacturing dept.. I have always used your pedals, and now, i'm going old school rerto with your DW 6000 turbo single pedal, as it is made exactly like my old 5000 pedals, which helped me perfect my heel-toe technique.. I would never think of using any other pedal on the market, so this is coming from a loyal DW pedal customer.. However, there is a particular flaw in the manufacturing of the 6000 series pedal, and that is the bass drum hoop clam lock screw.. I'm referring to the screw that holds the clamp in place.. Because i use different sized bass drums with different sized hoop thicknesses for many different gigs, the screw started to bend in a forward position, and this is after the locking mechanism was locked into place.. Luckily for me, all i had to do was bring the original screw to my local hardware store and found a pack of screws that were the exact same size match and fit perfectly, only that they were about an inch longer, but still works perfectly.. Now i know that this is not an adjustment issue because i've been using this type of pedal for a while now and know how to adjust and lock the hoop clamp.. I'm thinking it may be an issue with the type of screw being used, or where it is placed ?.. As of now i have the hoop clamp lock nut fastened all the way to it's lowest position, and adjust it more with the wing nut.. I really don't know why this is because i'm no engineer , but i do know that this problem needs to be addressed.. Any suggestions to avoid future bending of that screw ? I'll admit, i am a bit of a lead foot, but have really good technique, which is only natural after 32 years of playing, but still love the fluidity and lightness of the 6000 series pedal, and aesthetically , it looks great with my kite.. So with that being said, i hope you fantastic folks at DW can fix this problem.. Any and all suggestions are welcome.. Cheers !

Dear DW drum team, first of all I would like thank you for this video. I enjoyed to get all those background informations - for what it takes to produce such good products like these. For myself I use DW 9000 hardware and I´ll never wanna give it away anymore. I got one question to you guys: What is that good looking "table" Cobus is using for his phone or whatever while he plays his song? please look at minute 0:56:09 .I hope that this is available at a DW drums retailer, I would be glad if you could give me that name of the product. thank you.

you guys need to bring the adjustment up above, mount them on the snare drum clamp arm, the bass pedal mount screw should be on a u-joint up near the top of the pedal, you guys are not thinking, If I was working for DW, I would change the drumming world...yes I am him. What is the largest snare drum size that a 9000 snare stand can hold? Can it hold a 16 or 18" floor tom?

I have two new 9000 DW hi hat stands. I use the long rod but it is always unscrewing. Easy enough to retighten but is there a way to prevent the rod from turning?

i need dw5000 pedals replacement parts, that top part where the springs loops arounds (the piece that you can choose the angle of the beater) and the shaft is worn out, a bit pricey. I had these dw5000 for over 10 yrs

I was interested in getting a concept kit (im on a budget) and a pdp rack but could I put dw boom arms on the pdp rack to get the features like the wing that holds the felt and the part under the sleeve to tighten the space between felts? If that would work I would love to know. Thanks

Having the top felt attached to the wing nut is not good if you have a cymbal holder attached to the bass drum (tom holder clamp, etc.). Every time you play the bass drum, it rattles. It's very annoying.

pioneered the chain drive pedal? What about Sonor's signature series pedal from the 1982 catalogue? I use a Sonor sig series and to me it looks an awful lot like a DW 9000 series; I use a DW 9000 series hi hat which looks a lot like a sonor 82 catalogue sig series hi hat. Sonor lead the way in so many aspects of decent hardware. Their hardware was made to last forever just about, double braced, memory locks, levers instead of wings nuts, rubber instant release grips for cymbal stands, quick release lever snare stand baskets etc etc. Not to mention using woods that previously had not been used like bubinga, based on actual research about the hardness of wood and there associated sonic qualities.
