Darrell has a nice rocking chair in the office at his Honda dealership. The rocking chair has a plaque on it that reads, " To my friend Darrell for the retirement years. Dale Earnhardt. " What a treasure.
Given to him exactly three months before the 01 Daytona 500. It's something Darrell will cherish probably more than anything anyone will ever be able to give him.
Darrell is a great ambassador for the sport and I am telling my age but in the late 70's early 80's he was the man, especially on short tracks. Darrell a top 10 driver all time in Nascar and a great commentator
Definitely one of the smartest , back when you had to take care of your equipment. He was probably the best finisher of a race back when grip and hp was mechanical and not so aerodynamic.
There are in the last corner, the right hander before going down the front stretch. Since multiple series race at the Glen, armco is the best way to go in that case. If you had safer barriers at the bottom of the hill on the first corner it would be more dangerous. But they are always trying to improve safety at that track which is a good thing.

that's the basics. You can say the basics of every sport. Basketball is a sport with men in shorts dribbling a ball. Baseball is nothing but stick and ball and steroids. Football (NFL not soccer) is wrestling with a ball. The athletes/stars are the ones that make it enjoyable to watch.
