Ben Wallace would've been able to guard Dwight down the stretch. He couldn't because he had to guard Lewis the Cavs didn't have anyone outside of Lebron that could keep up with him, and Lebron had Turkoglu to worry about.

The problem wasn't the team, it was Mike Brown not making adjustments. He had Ben Wallace who obviously would've been able to guard Dwight yet decided not to put Ben on him for some reason.
