Lana byrne I agree. He didn't have the best suited partners for his abilities and devotion.

she has crazy q factor. Incredible charisma. She looks like a cartoon. Can't wait to see the dances. Val is actually my favorite dancer, but I think for Laurie, I'd prefer Mark or Sasha, so I hope Val gets creative and they just have a lot of fun.

i think jana will be a dark horse, she has the potential to win

I know, right? Major bummer for some of us DWTS fans not to see Mark Ballas this 23rd season! It's because he's focusing on his latest project this fall: Broadway "The Jersey Boys" in the Big Apple (a.k.a. New York)!

Yeah. It is weird that neither Mark nor Tony are on S23 to be seen, but it's already Week 5 and I'm getting used to it watching and enjoying it too (since they're sidelined this season).

I like your pairs selection. and I was definitely looking at Val/Laurie and Lindsay/Calvin for sure. Laurie definitely has what it takes to win it and I think she can handle Val pushing her. I think Lindsay and Calvin make a stunning duo, and he seems to like a challenge, so I know Lindsay is going to make him work. Who doesn't love Babyface? (right) He just always seems so shy, but the one think he has in his favor is musicality. so if he can incorporate that into his dancing they could definitely be top contenders.

Yes Derek had two gymnasts and is innovative too. Val must feel like he hit the jack box with Laurie and will probably copy Mark and Derek's past gymnast choreo

I totally agree! I miss Mark & Paige from last season, if Paige had the same wide fan base as Laurie, they would have won! Same with Sadie, Katherine & Chelsea! Hope Mark comes back next season after his awesome iconic Broadway role on Jersey Boys . WTG Mark but you will be missed this season 23 of DWTS! Ain't the same without U

I disagree, Val was great with Zendaya and she too was only 16 years old when she competed on DWTS in S16, and Val was very creative with her. When Derek was paired with Nastia, I think he depended a bit too much on her gymnastics skills, but one of the things I love about Val's partnership with Laurie is that he did not just depend on Laurie's gymnastic skills, he actually seriously taught Laurie proper Latin Ballroom dancing this season, and he utilized very little of her gymnastic skills this season because he wanted to turn Laurie into a proper dancer, and not just a gymnast who tries to dance. Anyway, I'm glad Laurie was paired with Val this season, their chemistry and partnership was great and Val really let Laurie be herself, he choreographed some really great dances for her and some dances that remained true to who Laurie really is. I'm so happy Laurie & Val won S23!

Linda L I'm happy for Laurie because anyone would have won with her. Like Carrie-Anne said though there was no shades or light and dark. Val's choreo was one trip pony for me. He didnt choreo a soft romantic or sexy piece for her to show her range (grieving choreo about her grandmother doesn't count; no shade on Laurie at all just Val).
