What player… that hole borer caught my eye… that’s saved a couple of shillings when I eventually get a DX Commander off Callum The Alchemist… and I like that you were in touch with the earth … barefoot to absorb the frequencies of the earth.😊 Best wishes, mind how you go. 73

Antenna Setups with Uncle Roly is fun. I am using a plastic or a metal like a floor dowel people use them for their rotary clothes dryer in the Yard. I'ts about the same size and weight of what you using there but way more comfy to drill them in the Ground. They are 15 - 15.-€ in the local hardware store. Excellent video Uncle Roly, stay safe to be well. Happy weekend from Your Friend Uncle Guenter of the German Frontier 💯🎸🙋‍♂

When I installed my DX Commander antenna a few months ago I also used a length of 50 mm PVC water pipe, I used a mallet to knock the pipe into the ground about 400 mm, and I also have about 400 mm sticking out of the ground for the antenna to fit over. It does the job really well.
@ZL1BQDRoly

Great minds think alike huh.... I find that short piece of pipe ideal for the POTA/SOTA work i do. cheers HNY

Hi ya Dusty. The first method works great for sure. I had a problem a couple of times where the wind was quite strong and the bottom kept kicking out, that's where the pipe idea came from. cheers

Nicely done, Roly. Killing two birds with one stone.... playing radio and aerating the lawn. 😊👍 I drilled a hole in the cap on my Shakespeare Wonderpole, put a bolt thru the hole with a nut and washer on each side of the cap. Once that was done, I cut the head off the bolt off and ground it to a blunt point.... making it a spike to stab into the ground then I guy it the same as the DX Commander. Haven't had a chance to deploy my DX Commander Rapide yet so unsure if the same trick will work for that antenna but I like your idea. I might have to give it a go when the time comes.

Very well done! I like the first method as a start and the post to keep the high winds from ruining my day. I am considering a ground tilt up mechanism for my qth where a Classic or Neboola would reside for months at a time. Then the grounding plate for radials is already there. Just have to mount it and lean it up. Thanks for another great video. All the best, 73 de KI5HXM.
@ZL1BQDRoly
@ZL1BQDRoly 2 года назад
Hi Brent , make some sort of hinged arrangement to raise a Neboola. Cal has a video showing his arrangement somewhere. Makes it a lot easier for a one man operation... cheers HNY
@brentjohnson6654
@brentjohnson6654 2 года назад
@@ZL1BQDRoly thanks for the reply, Roly. I remember Cal’s video with that big thing. Haha. I would use radials and feed line on the fixed plate and have a hinge with maybe a 110 degree travel and then guy it properly once up. Of course it would most likely have 2 guys in the ground prior to leaning it and securing the third one. When I had children growing up at the house we made a candy cane that went over the guy wires on my tower. It was made from small white pvc that we put a slit in to slide it onto the metal rope of the guy. Then I took a red electric tape and made a candy cane looking monstrosity It helped the young ones from running into it with their bikes. Haha. All the best!

Great ideas! The first option works best for me. I can do that. The second option is near impossible as I will hit rock at 1mm below the surface. 😉 Thank you!

That nifty pvc bore pipe won't work in rock soil I'm sad to say. 😐@@ZL1BQDRoly
@g0fvt

Very similar to what I did, though I did bore the hole with a 50mm auger bit. Being a little oversized meant I needed to drive a few thin wooden wedges down the side of the 40mm PVC pipe. Your solution is a bit smarter, 73
@ZL1BQDRoly
@ZL1BQDRoly 2 года назад
Nice work! The pipe i have is light enough and easy enough to throw into my backpack for POTA and SOTA work. I find too often that trying to put up the DXC in the wind can be very frustrating when the base wants to 'kick out' all the time......cheers HNY

Hi roly , hope your well. Neat wee video mate, and great ideas to get your antenna up without any dramas. Iam busy here trying to put together a 20m bicycle mobile at our local beach, with a gtu as help from g4akc. I got a ebike from Santa, and beach is 3 mins away. Take care, Best wishes: brian zl3xdj. Oh ps : did you get a final size for your loop on the ground.
