This is a detailed guide to setting Crow and Camber with a DX6. Use this process for all 5 or 6 channel aircraft. TX programming tutorial. EXCEPTION: You MUST have flaps! Duh, a five channel plane with electric retracts and no flaps wont do Crow.

Best video to show crow set up. I have had crow before on my glider but due to some wiring issues had to start from scratch again your video was very clear

Douglas, this was the best video I've found for this process. Clear and easy to follow. I also was able to set up Crow on my Phoenix 2000. I'm looking forward to trying it later today.

Doug you explained that very well. I nearly had it worked out myself but you have saved me from a trial and error session! I'm going to put it on my Phoenix 1600 that I will use as a pure slope glider. Thanks again.

Thanks for posting this video, I have a Roc Hobby V tail glider and love it. however it takes a lot of runway to land as you can imagine it floats forever... there was a new pilot at our club last week with a powered glider. when he showed Crow working I was sold on setting mine up which I have done today thanks to your video... I can't wait to try it on our next day at the field thanks to the straightforward instructions you give...used on Lemon Rx no problem... Great stuff Thank you

Hi Andy, thanks for the kind words. I am glad you found the video useful and informative. Hope it works well with your plane and TX. It took quite a while to figure out, a LOT of trial and error, but once I found the right steps it was a piece of cake. Good luck up there.

Sir, thank you so much for putting this video out there, I followed your instructions and everything worked great. The only change I made was to use the throttle channel into the crow mix as I don't have a motor so I didn't have to worry about that channel.. This allows me to gradually bring in more crow, versus a sudden impulse. My camber I did like you and put it on a switch.

Good Video. Easy to follow step by step... Now just have to see if I can get as3x and SAFE to work with this format. At least it leaves me with 2 spare channels on my NX8 to program gain and as3X switching. If you have a 2 flap, 2 ail config you can program camber and crow on the NX series using the crow feature (flap setup) but even with an 8 channel TX and RX there is only one spare channel and as3x setup cannot be completed.... Unless others know of a work around?

@shanesdiy

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, been a few years! AS3X assumes ailerons are on the same channel, how do you address that when putting an aileron on another channel? Disable AS3X or just let it control one wing for it's stabilization? I'm planning to do flaperons on my AeroScout and assumed I would have to deactivate AS3X or hope that AS3X would do its job when only controlling one wing aileron. Also, I didn't see you add the "LAL". Did you do that with a mix from the "RAL"? How are you controlling the RAL using a mix from the LAL? Did it create that when you created the model with 2 ailerons and one flap?
@spanishcop2090
@spanishcop2090 Год назад
I'm curious about this too as I use AS3x and also.... When you have crow setup can you still move alerons while it keeps crow setup to help with landing left and right for wind or what ever.
@spanishcop2090

I use safe mode at times I'd needed. Wonder what it does to safe mode as well by redoing wires
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy Год назад
Since writing this I have flashed new firmware to the AR631 in my aeroscout and did a factory reset to "jailbreak" it. After that I was able to move the ailerons to separate channels, add flaperons and retain as3x and safe through forward programming using an NX6 transmitter.

Interesting video. The only thing that I don’t understand how you manage to not having the flaps to go opposite direction of each others. Since they are on a Y cable, the left flap go up and the right go down by default for my default flap system. When I put the MIX when I change the Rate value for ON > FLP on flap go up and the other one down (+ or -). Any suggestions?

I am a beginner with a DX6...I just picked up a Pulse 15e low wing ( without flaps / with outboard ailerons ) the plane lands very fast and wants to glide a long way to land .....how can I add a position switch ( to be used on landing ) having both outboard ailerons pop up as spoilers , but still maintain my normal aileron control ( the current Rx is the Spektrum AS3X , but I also have a Lemon 6 channel I could install ).......thanks much

@marinrealestatephotography
@marinrealestatephotography 4 года назад
Unfortunately the DX6E doesn't have voice alerts. Also, the DX6e only has FOUR mixing slots (the DX6 apparently has 5). You can still do the Crow mix and the Camber Mix Douglass showed in the video but then you won't be able to do any other mixes (like adding down elevator).
@AeroB3
@AeroB3 7 лет назад
I've got the rx channels set up like you said and all 3 of the mixes programmed into my DX9 and I've gone over everything several times but the flaps move opposite of each other like ailerons. Any idea of what's wrong?
@douglassnyder1292
@douglassnyder1292 7 лет назад
Well, my video addressed the Dx6, and I am not sure if this works in a Dx9. It may have different software. The only thing I can think of to try, is go into the servo set-up menu and tinker with the reverse settings on the flaps. I know you can set the ailerons, but not sure about the flaps. Worth a try. Or, click on Roger Young's name below, and ask him if he got it to work, and if so, how he did it. Good luck, and let me know if you were able to figure it out. I am sure other people with Dx9's would be interested.

Thanks so much setting up a DX6 glider with flaps and lemon RX, one thing is there a way to use the stability of the lemon RX with this setup?
@douglassnyder1292
@douglassnyder1292 7 лет назад
You are welcome. I hope it worked for ya. I am not sure what you mean when you ask, "is there a way to use the stability of the lemon RX with this setup?". Are you possibly referring to a Lemon with a stabilization system like AS3X? If so, I was not aware they made one.
@shckltnebay
@shckltnebay 7 лет назад
Douglas Snyder the make both a stability "as3x" rx and a "safe" leveling rx
@douglassnyder1292
@douglassnyder1292 7 лет назад
I was unaware of that. I did some checking into it and found this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UvcBFdeC15c.html. Since you need all 6 channels to do the programming in my video, I suspect that maybe these wont work because they work off of a toggle switch programmed to channel 5. One way to find out eh? Go here and read the first blog: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2076090-Lemon-Rx-6-channel-2-4ghz-DSM2-Spektrum-compatable-Receivers-USA-Distributor and click on the Team Legit link and there are more videos too.

Thanks for the tutorial. I just programmed flaperons and crow on my Valiant just to play with the aerodynamics. Unfortunately the AS3X stability is confused now and only the right aileron is responding. Is there a way to fix that?
@marinrealestatephotography
@marinrealestatephotography 4 года назад
@@jeffandriese6743 Hi there, Jeff: Some people (Brian Phillips, for example) say it is ok to have the AS3X and the SAFE autolevel on only one aileron. However, on my Conscendo Advanced (AR636 receiver with AS3X and SAFE), I was able to get both Ailerons to have AS3X and SAFE, despite splitting the cable up and putting RA in to port 2 and LA in to port 6. The problem though is that you then have to reporgram your AR636 receiver using the Spektrum Programming Software and the appropriate USB cable. That software only works on PC's as far as I know, and won't work on a MAC).

I did everything as you say on this video, but in my E-Flite Turbo Timber EFL15250 with AR636B Receiver it doesn't work weel, it means, In "CROW" Mode the Wright Aileron also MOOVES. YES, i configured Aircraft Type as "2 Ailerons/1Flap", "left Ailereon" on "6", Flaps on "5", "Mixes" as You say and so on..... After you changed the "AIRCRAFT TYPE" from "1Ail/1Flap" to "2Ail/1Flap" did you not change the respective "Channel Assign"? "Flaps" from "6" to "5"? I think so, isn't it I think it's "something" that "is escaping me", could you please help me? Thank you very much
