I went with DX9 Gabriel because of the G1 look, it came in last week and I am very pleased. Next to Optimus, Omega was my favorite Autobot and this sculpt nailed the cartoon/toy look for me. The price wasn't bad either. Either one of these looks like a solid buy though. Great review!
When these were announced I immediately preferred the aesthetics of the Fans Toys Omega, mainly due to the way the tracks display/flare out on the bot mode’s back. However, several initial reviews of FT Omega made me nervous about his tendency to lean badly so I decided to wait for DX9 reviews and comparisons. The subsequent reviews and comparisons made it clear that DX9 had the better engineering and stability. After watching multiple comparison videos, I decided to go with DX9. Despite the fact that I preferred FT’s track display/flare out in bot mode, I couldn’t justify going with minor aesthetics over better engineering. It’s a close race between the two, and I typically prefer FT over most other companies (except for Generation Toy; I’ve become a bit of a fanboy of theirs), but the better engineering and stability of DX9 won out for me.
I just picked this up for $180 from BBTS after handling this and Fanstoys. Again this was a rare battle FTs lost overall. Price, stability, transformation --- all DX9. Presence is equal. Easy purchase decision to make. I watched your FTs review of TG years ago and that transformation gave me anxiety.
Know people are going to be entrenched on their company fandom side, but how awesome is it we have two great choices for a giant Omega Supreme? I did go FT, just because it came out earlier, but don't think this would have been a bad pick up either.
I got the DX9. I'm completely happy with my decision. My advice to anyone buying it would be to tread carefully when first attaching the arms - on mine, the joint was so tight I couldn't get them back apart without a prying tool! I did some light sanding around the square peg and it's great, now. There are some features of the Fanstoys I prefer: I agree with you about the better thigh sculpt; I like the idea of Omega having a matrix chamber; I'd want that third joint in each finger and I like the light up eyes. That being said, the factors for which I bought the DX9 over the Fanstoys - poseability/joints and transformation - matter so much more to me!
I enjoy what both companies typically have to offer, so whichever a collector chooses I think they'll be satisfied. I'm excited to see if DX9 actually has a Devi in the works. Though I'm sure most are a little burned out on the Devi wars lol. A decent and humorous review there, Mr. Skullface.
Of all the G1 type Omega Supremes released - Hasbro's Year of the Snake (retool of Energon Omega Supreme), Planet X's WFC Omega Supreme, and the MP types by DX9 & Fanstoys...I think that this one takes the win as far as aesthetics go. As a figure...I think it works nicely whether you run a CHUG collection or an MP collection.

Just got my DX9 Gabriel from BBTS this week. Love this figure! So happy that I got him before DX9 decided to close up shop. Such a shame to see them go after creating such a magnificent bot!
Insisting on Omega supreme being the same size with Devastator or any other combiner is wrong, just check again the Secret of Omega Supreme episode on G1 cartoon season 2 and you will also verify that omega is in fact taller.He is at least half to one head taller and is evident on several times during that episode
I would like to see you review WeiJiang Ultima Guard. I thought it looked cheap at first but looks better and better as time goes by. I really do like the look of this DX9 Gabriel. Thanks for the great vid again!
I just got this and the joints and insanely tight. Were the joints lubricated? If so, was there a type of paint safe silicone spray you used/would recommend. Posing this guy is basically impossible right now.
I felt like this had more of the cartoon aethetic I was looking for. I had already picked it up but was curious about your opinion. I agree it's pretty much the same thing, just minor differences. It's cool you stuck with yours. A lot of others were switching from fanstoys to this one. To much money for both if you ask me.

Best Omega available right now in my opinion. Normally I am all in with Fanstoys. Bought the FT one but he just did not do it for me. Sold it and bought this one. Really glad I did. Looks more toon accurate. The FT one looks more toy accurate. Good review as always
I have two questions: which face sculpt do you prefer between this and the FT? And you didn't mention in the pros/cons of both, the neck popping up and the head able to look down. That is absolutely a pro, as the FT cannot do that at all. You're always so adamant on big bots being able to look downward, so is that not a huge plus? I already own the FT, but in the same boat of liking things about both. I love the neck joint on DX9 but I feel I like the face sculpt ion FT a bit better. Great job on the review as always!

I call this one of your "supreme" reviews! The "Omega" review of this guy is right here. ;) I agree with you on that both DX9 and FT are good options. For me, I'd go with the DX9 because I find the transformation more enjoyable and the bot mode a bit cleaner looking. That Wei Jiang version looks pretty good, too. But I don't have any prior products from them. So I am more hesitant to drop $200+ for it. I've had great luck with DX9 releases, though, so far. Stay cool.
Honestly I understand Omega is. Big but this guy is over kill in size He is like metroplex Big he could come diwn 3 notches in size to Make swivel movement as standing better.
Mr. Skullface. I really appreciate you doing a review on this guy. I was waiting to hear your opinion on him and comparison to the FT. I have the Fans Toys Omega. Would you recommend buying him in addition to the FT, or possibly wait on a Takara release? FYI, Omega Supreme is my fav Transformer of all time. Thanks again!! 👍👍
Brant Lisk while I'm not Skullface (obviously) I did end up with both myself, I just bought the guardian repaint of the FT Omega. If you have the cash to spend and the space I don't think it's a terrible option.
DX9 seems to have a better overall build, seems to be a bit more stable then the Fans toys one, I watched both reviews and it seemed that way when you were manipulating them. The head, the waist and the ankle rocker have better range of movement on the DX9 and that's very important, specially the head, on a TF this size he has to be able to look down. Fans Toys looks better (those wings are great) and is a tad bigger then DX9 but I can get a better price for DX9 (100USD less then FT) so this gives me a bit to think about. Bobby was it only my impression or even though the FT looks better (we share that opinion) DX9 is a bit sturdier and better articulated? Thanks for the review, it really comes in handy.
10:39 This part is much easier if you extend the track from the lower legs first at 11:26. With the track out of the way, you'll have a good quarter inch to grab onto those little flaps.
Looks directly at the laser light, "letmeshowyasomething!" Very complete and entertaining video, they seem more lively and fun these days. Do watch out for the birds if you go outside with that sandwich :^)
Great review as always. I love them both. I personally got Dx9. But you can’t go wrong with either. I’ll never understand the arguing and fighting with collectors about things like this. Can’t they both be good like you said?
Did he get one of the wet ones tho. Seriously, you make a great figure and leave the boxes in the rain (or whatever they did). I stuck with FT's too as I prefer the look, but I do think this out engineers it by some margin.
Have both. Fanstoys did not do it for me. It’s just unstable. Dx9 more cartoon accurate and more rock solid. Have weijiang and he’s stylized but more steady than the fanstoys. I will give credit where it’s due and this time fanstoys was the weakest of the three

As for which Omega to get, if I do get one, and I agree from what I have seen both are incredibly well done, if I were to buy one today I would lean toward the DX9, because I prefer the beefiness it has over the Fanstoys Omega. But to me there really is no wrong choice, what a great time to be a recent 3rd Party purchaser. I love all the options available to me. Fantastic review, Bobby!
No, Omega Supreme isn't supposed to be about the same size as a combiner. He's the next size up. Anytime you've seen them in a cartoon about the same size is just them animating and directing the scene poorly. How many times have you seen that done in TF.....? >.>
I believe omega suppose to be much taller than devastator. There is a fight seen between them. He towers over him like a basketball player would over a regular size person
Nothing hateful here. I think now any Omega you go with, youre good, as long as that's the one you wanted. i was even looking at that weijang. if I was a kid, I would want that one for the motorized tank part, even though the robot mode looks creepy.
Hey Bobby, I just got into a fist fight at Ollies and I would also love to argue about which Omega Supreme is better..... I took the real scientific, educated consumer approach and bought the DX9 version because my youngest son is named Gabriel.....
I think the red and the yellow are both a bit pale - that and the appearance of the plastic makes it look cheaper to me. Not alone - if this was the only Omega, I'd look at it and think "holy crap this is beautiful!" But when next to FT.....it doesn't look as professional. I agree with 99% of your review though. The colors and the wings do it for me.

Oooooooo somebody didn't check the scale chart lol omega is bigger than devy, chart and toon. That being said I give it a pass. You did look at the led light and it sucked...
Dudu Nikolaishvili All of Bruticus’ components are bigger that’s the constructicons(I thinks, can’t remember well). Also I think their vehicle modes are bigger than the constructicons.
No the Combaticons are often depicted being almost the same height as the Constructicons, and although it is not very consistent (scale is never consistent in Transformers), Devastator is always depicted a Head taller, or sometimes massive, compared to the typical five component combiner.
Because a Humvee should certainly be considered the same size as a 6 wheel crane or a giant Earthmover dumptruck, and a bulldozer should totally be the same length as a helicopter and a space shuttle. :)
