Its quite hard to find good and reliable utility lights that runs on regular AA cells these days. In some situations, running 18650 rechargeable batteries might not be ideal especially when you have irregular or unreliable 18650 cells, charging down-time, flight restrictions on carrying spare 18650 cells onboard, etc... In rural situations or constant on-the-go applications, sometimes its just not practical to worry about whipping out your powerbanks or solar panels for USB recharging. You just need a thing less to worry about, just pop in a fresh set of dry-cells (available even in most rural provision stores) and off you go. Utility lights need to be practical, able to last through the night of burn time, and most importantly, not overheating or have logic failures due to the fancy controller modes. We own enough flashlights for real-world usage since the era of incandescent Maglites, Surefire, and recent LED based Nitecore, Fenix, Convoy, etc you-name-it brands to know. This is not a paid ad, we just think its a well-designed & useful flashlight tool at a very good price having chanced upon it during our road-trip travels.
