Thank you for this wonderful PhotoLab 7 demonstration. The pace and detailed explanations of the various tools and the results achieved were just right and very helpful. I will rewatch this again to get as much out of it as I can. I happened to come across this and subscribed to your channel before it was even near the end. Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge of DXO PhotoLab. I look forward to seeing more from you.

As an enthusiast who loves DxO PhotoLab 7 this is one of the best videos that explains a well structured workflow. My only change is maybe getting the light right before colour - I thought this was the mainstream thought. Otherwise yours is very close to mine. Love the pace and detail. Have you any other DxO videos?

Thanks Marcus - great video tutorial - perfect pace and amount of detail. I've just started using the trial version of DxO PL with a new camera after a very long time away from photography. I've never edited RAW files before and I was a little overwhelmed to be honest. I've watched a few videos and it's starting to make more sense and with your video, I really liked the workflow. Great work!

Recently moved to Mac, and away from Adobe. Had their All Apps plan. I'm new to PhotoLab. Took advantage of the 20% off special. I like it a lot. I wish it supported DNG files from my Pixel 8 Pro, but I have Affinity Photo, and it can open the DNGs. I found the video useful, and I hope you'll take time to do more. I think a lot of people leaving Adobe will end up using PhotoLab, and we can use some basic tutorials. Subscribed.

@@careylymanjones DXO PhotoLab 7 supports DNG File. Here is a link: support.dxo.com/hc/en-us/articles/6941915638045-Which-DNG-files-are-supported-by-DxO-PhotoLab-as-input

@@LashahVideo Sadly, PL doesn't support the DNG files from the Pixel 8 Pro (or most recent smartphones). After I posted my comment, I found a thread in the DxO support forums, where it was explained that DxO doesn't consider most smartphone DNG files to be true RAW files, and doesn't support them. The consensus was to edit the DNG file in another program, and save it to TIFF, with a P3 profile. PL CAN open that, but the advanced denoise functions are disabled, and of course, no lens corrections, as DxO doesn't have optical modules for smartphone lenses. It still does a very nice job with my mirrorless camera RAW files. Just wish it could do the smartphone files.

:) you could see the deep prime effect even though that is only available in that little prewiew window on the right.

Naw, but nice advertising. I'll take Darktable, thank you, its open source.

This is not advertising; I'm not affiliated with DXO in any capacity. It's an honest review of a mainstream photography software application with good customer and technical support. If you are already using Darktable (open-source software, aka free) and it works for you, that's cool. But your statement would be the equivalent of me saying, "Windows and Mac OS are all hype; I use Linux." Really! There are sites and videos for those statements, but it's not applicable to every video that discusses software options that differ from what you use.

No, it’s not… not for me. I hate Adobe, and if Dxo also was a DAM, it would be my choice. Dxo is the best raw processor but Capture One ingested my 32 GB Lightroom catalog and kept all my edits and collections, so years of work didn’t go to waste.

@@marsrii4372 DXO is a DAM (Digital Asset Manager) and a very good one. I will do a video on the DAM features of DXO.

How is C1 handling larger collections (50-100k) nowadays? I stopped using it years ago as the DAW part was unbearable slow and buggy. The editor of DXO is great but the DAW part is too basic for my needs.

@@HaraldWalker The application that I’ve used that can manage really large photo collections is Photo Mechanic Pro (it can handled up to 1 million) and it really fast. I never keep more than 60,000 photo in my collection got C1 and Lightroom because over that amount it start to slow down. Lightroom has the best archival system of the two.

@@HaraldWalker I imported my Lroom cat with 70k plus photos into Cap One, and it took 3 hours. it kept all my collections, keywords, color tags intact and it seems no slower than Lightroom. Of course I lost all but the most basic edits. The raw editor works similarly. I will use the cloud at work to output my edits into tifs. It’s a steep price to pay, but I had to be free from adobe’s ransomware…
