Again, we have refined our sequence of content for advanced training videos. The video has two parts. The first concentrates on pattern and algorithm. The second part concentrates on testing what you have learned. Hopefully with these new improvements you will agree this is our best advanced training video to date.

This great. Once again you have explained the technique like no other video I have seen.

So Skyscrapers and 2-String Kites are X-chain variants. But I still look for Skyscrapers and 2-String Kites. But for all the other variants I just look for X-Chains. Make sure you get good at practicing X-Chains: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-di1aM5X0h6Y.html X-Chains probably occur more frequently than X-Wings.

At 10:10 the 3 in R2C3 can be eliminated starting from R2C8 R7C8.

Good catch. Another nice X-Chain sequence. You are good at X-Chains!

At 8:10 another 1 can be eliminated in R2C6. Starting with R8C6: R8C5- R3C3-R4C8-R2C7 eliminates 1 in R2C6.

Another good catch. That one looks like Turbot Fish type X-Chain.

in test 1, it looks like r1c2 can also be removed from a kite in row 5 and column 8

Nice catch!! I review all the test examples to try to get rid of this kind of thing. This one got by me. It's happened several times where I found the same pattern twice and if I catch it I put in new test example. But you are right that is definitely another 2-string kite. I'm just about to finish my next video on X-Chain. It turns out a 2-string kite is a variant of an X-Chain. Anyway, thanks for your feedback. Nice to see someone is actually learning it!

followed a link on reddit, watched the video twice. Can't figure out how you identify these xwing cells, I had learned a different kind of xwing

I was trying to make it simpler by saying the "one half of an x-wing". But technically what it is call is a type of "link" between cells. Most people will call them "Strong Links" these are really what I call "Either-Or Links" because it is a Strong and Weak Link in both directions. For more information on on links I think the video I did on the Turbo Fish starts out with a pretty good explanation of the different types of links: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Wz8LUAlDP0.html But try not to get hung up on the looking for links and link terminology. What you really need to think about is the logic of the way the 2-String kite works. Take a look at 1:28 mark in the video again. Notice the two cells being shared in block 6 (R5C7 and R6C9). If R5C7 has a value of 8 then R6C9 cannot have a value of 8. But if R6C9 is not 8 then R8C7 must be 8. So when happens is the intersection point of the cells R6C3 and R8C7 create a kill zone. It's almost like an X-Wing where the two X-Wing halves form a cross. When I look for 2-String kites I usually look for the first half an X-wing, then for either corner, see if the block being share by either corner has a perpendicular X-wing half coming out of it. An then I confirm if there's a kill zone having possible candidates to kill. I don't know what kind of X-Wing you have learned. I recently did this video which I think has a pretty good explanation of what I know as an X-Wing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6WnFkrUt_10.html I'm pretty confident I am following the standard definition of X-wing.
